Gun confiscations begin in New York, aided by existing firearms registry

In the wake of New York’s latest gun control law, the New York Police Department is now sending out notices to registered gun owners demanding that they give up their firearms, clear proof that gun registration leads to outright confiscations.gunconfiscations

The notice provides gun owners, who possess firearms now prohibited under New York’s unconstitutional SAFE Act, the “options” to either surrender their firearms to the police, remove them from the city limits or otherwise render them inoperable.

The NYPD knew exactly who to send the notices to by using a centralized firearms registry which lists the city’s gun owners and what firearms they have in their possession.

With the gun database already in place, the police merely needed to compile a list of firearm makes and models now banned under the SAFE Act and send the notices to the appropriate owners.

The SAFE Act, which was passed by the state legislature and signed by the governor on the same day in January, has numerous, draconian provisions including, but not limited to:

– Outright ban of magazines holding over 10 rounds
– Restriction on more than seven rounds being loaded into a magazine; the limited exceptions do not include home defense
– Mandatory background checks for ammunition
– The creation of a firearms registry for what the state considers “assault weapons”
– A requirement for firearm permit holders to fill out a form to keep the state from publicly identifying them

These unconstitutional provisions and the overall law itself have met significant resistance.

Erie Co., N.Y. Sheriff Timothy B. Howard publicly stated that his department will not enforce the SAFE Act, adding that the law is one of the strongest examples of the government not listening to the people.

“It’s an unenforceable law and I believe it will ultimately be declared unconstitutional,” he said during a press conference. “Do you want law enforcement people that will say ‘I will do this because I’m told to do this, even if I know it’s wrong?’”

Earlier this month, Howard won his re-election due to his stance against the gun control law.

“The SAFE Act was a major issue in this [Erie Co. Sheriff] election,” Carl J. Calabrese, a political consultant, said to the Buffalo News. “A lot of people in Erie County, both Republicans and Democrats, are hunters, gun owners and shooters … These are motivated people who get out and vote.”

“In a low-turnout election year like this one, it can make a huge difference.”

Howard told the newspaper that he did what he thought was the right thing to do.

“People in Western New York feel strongly about the Constitution and Albany’s misreading of it,” he added.

While the City of New York’s notice proves that gun registration leads to outright confiscations, Howard’s re-election also proves that Americans are beginning to reassert their birth rights as recognized by the Constitution.

  1. Perhaps you concealed carry permit holders will finally begin to understand why having your name on a government list of registered gun owners for any purpose is a bad idea. When you turned in that paperwork with your license fee, your name went on just such a government list. So when the jackbooted thugs want to grab guns, which convenient list will be the first one they use to track down owners? Could it be that one of people with concealment permits—people who by definition must own a gun to have wanted such a permit in the first place?

Concealed carry permit provisions passed in so many states so quickly that this aroused my suspicions from the beginning. Almost nothing positive normally gets through so many state legislatures this fast. It’s almost as if the powers that be wanted gullible gun owners to run and sign up for such a permit. Hmm. Wonder why?

I strongly suspect that some form of martial law is coming to large swaths of the US sooner rather than later. If this is correct, Officer Friendly and his fellow “heroes” will be searching houses door to door anyway, with some backup from government troops. But the initial targets will be those who were suckered into getting a concealed carry permit.

Because of our “heroes’ ” increasingly apparent inability to protect and serve the law-abiding public from all the bad actors out there, including other “heroes”, I bought a suitable gun and will probably join the ranks of concealed carry holders myself. But I do so knowing the inevitable outcome in advance, and my house is in an area that would see door-to-door searches when the shit hits the fan anyway. Might as well get a permit for the limited time I’ll be able to exercise the ability to use it.

    • Hi Ek,

      Probably, you’re right.

But it’s a damned if you … damned if you don’t situation.

My life would be over – professionally and otherwise – if I got stopped by a cop for some trivial reason and he found a gun on me or in the car, sans CHP.

I’d be immediately arrested on a felony charge – and the press car impounded – and that would be finis. Even worse than pouring a couple of bottles of Jim Beam all over the upholstery of a new BMW and leaving the empties on the floorboards for BMW to find when they sent their guy to pick the car up.

So, I got the damned permit.

I agree it means I am now on their radar.

But I figure, if they really do impose martial law – and come door to door – then the time has come to fight (or disappear into the woods) anyhow, so as a practical matter – what’s the difference?

I expect we’ll get at least a little bit of a jump on them, if it comes down to it, because they can’t lock down the country overnight. It’ll start – and that’ll be the cue for people like us to head for the hills, or do whatever it is we’ve decided we’re going to do.

I personally won’t just sit in my house and wait for the cammo-clad goons to pack me off to the camps.

Fuck ’em and feed ’em fish heads!

      • Nice reply, eric.
Very, ameri-can. In the old sense of the word.
        I liked it.
I imagine it’s the sentiment of others, too.

I only wish there were hills around my parts to ‘head to’, comrade.

      • And what can be done? Is it pretty much a fight and die situation at that point?

I just wish we could bring the Founders back to life, they overthrew one tyrannical government and they’d figure out a way to do it here to.

        I don’t have a clue…

        • It’s pretty much fight AND die now.
The only question is, can you make it pyrric enough that others might escape?
IE, make it too costly for them to continue in that area?

Of course, that then means they were correct – but they’ll be “justified” no matter what, regardless. the victors write the history.
Why i’m such a “loose cannon” at this point. Maybe I’ve got nothing; maybe i’m the biggest threat there is. They don’t know – and they’ll waste time on me either way. If they kill each other, I still come out ahead – regardless of my personal results. (And if i’m armed, and paranoid – I might well walk away with multiple corpses left behind me. Depends on your military mind, knowledge of the playbooks, and prep time. And when you carry a GPS like a smart phone, and are “predictable”, they’ll be overconfident regardless. Mine the easy routes, mine the front door, and the back…. And be elsewhere. 😀 )

  2. Common stereotypes of Americans include that Americans are: aggressive, arrogant, ignorant, of limited intelligence, overweight, poorly dressed, obsessed with making money, too moralistic and generally obnoxious.

Marie-France Toinet says use of the term “is only fully justified if it implies systematic opposition – a sort of allergic reaction – to America as a whole.”

    Anti-Americanism
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-Americanism

Josef Joffe suggests five classic aspects of the phenomenon: 1 reducing Americans to stereotypes, 2 believing the United States to have an irremediably evil nature, 3 ascribing to the U.S. establishment a vast conspiratorial power aimed at utterly dominating the globe, 4 holding the United States responsible for all the evils in the world, and 5 seeking to limit the influence of the United States by destroying it, or by cutting oneself and one’s society off from its polluting products and practices.

    Degeneracy thesis

The New World landmasses were inherently inferior to Europe. The so-called “degeneracy thesis” held that climatic extremes, humidity and other atmospheric conditions in America physically weakened both men and animals.

Evidence for the idea included the smallness of American fauna, dogs that ceased to bark, and venomous plants. Native Americans were also held to be feeble, small, and without ardor. The conquest of the New World has been the greatest of all misfortunes to befall mankind.

    Lacking Culture

Americans lack “taste, grace and civility” and have a brazen and arrogant character. The greatest difference between England and the United States was “want of refinement.”, explaining that “that polish which removes the coarser and rougher parts of our nature is unknown and undreamed of” in America.

By the end of the nineteenth century, the stereotype of the ugly American – voracious, preachy, mercenary, and bombastically chauvinist – was firmly in place. Such prejudices were rooted in an idealized image of European refinement and that the notion of high European culture pitted against American vulgarity has not disappeared.

Bodenlosigkeit (absence of ground) I think indicates the general character of all American institutions; what we call Fatherland in Germany is here only a property insurance scheme.

“How is it that we hear the loudest yelps for liberty among the drivers of negroes?” asked Samuel Johnson in 1775. I am willing to love all mankind, except an American.”

    The Liberators Poster
    http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/f/f8/Liberators-Kultur-Terror-Anti-Americanism-1944-Nazi-Propaganda-Poster.jpg

The “Liberators” poster distributed by Nazis in 1944 to a Dutch audience displays multiple elements of anti-American attitudes used by the Nazis.

“Liberator”-was a common Allied justification for attacking Germany. It also stands for the B-24 American bomber and the poster shows liberation equals destruction of Europe’s cities.

The decadence of beauty pageants (scantily-clad “Miss America” and “Miss Victory”, “The World’s Most Beautiful Leg”) – or more generally, the putative sexual laxness of American women, a theme which strongly resonates with extremists today.

The “Miss America” beauty pageant in Atlantic City had expanded during the war and was used to sell war bonds.

Gangsterism and gun violence (the arm of an escaped convict holding a submachine gun). Gangsterism had become a theme of anti-Americanism in the 1930s.

Anti-black violence (a lynching noose, a Ku Klux Klan hood). Lynching of blacks had attracted European denunciations by the 1890s.

General violence of American society, in addition to the above (boxing-glove which grasps the money-bag). The theme of a violent American frontier was well known in the 19th century.

Americans as Indian savages. (“Miss America” wears plains-Indian head-dress).
The pure materialism or commercialism of America, to the detriment of any spirit or soul (moneybag with “$” symbol). The materialism of America contrasted with the spiritual depth of European high culture is a common trope, especially in Scandinavia.

Anti-semitism appears in most Nazi images of America. A Jewish banker is seen behind the money.

The presence of blacks in America equals its “mongrelization”, adding undesirably “primitive” elements to American popular culture, and constituting a potential danger to the white race (strongly muscular arms of a black male, a stereotypically-caricatured black couple dancing the “Jitterbug – Triumph of Civilization” in birdcage, which is portrayed as a degraded animalistic ritual). The degradation of culture, especially through miscegenation, resonated with European anxieties, especially in Germany.

Decadence of American popular culture, and its pernicious influence on the rest of the world (dancing of jitterbug, hand holds phonograph record, figure of a European gullible “all-ears” dupe in lower foreground). The growing popularity of American music and dancing among young people had ignited a “moral panic” among conservative Europeans.

Indiscriminate U.S. military violence (bloodied bomb for foot, metal legs, military aircraft wings), threatening the European cultural landmarks at lower right. The terror-bombing of Nazi-held cities was a British strategy, but it was easy enough to use it to attack the Americans.

Hence the falsity of American claims to be “Liberators”. (The word “Liberators” was also the name of a U.S. bomber plane.)

Nazis denounced American jingoism and war fervor (a business-suited arm literally “beating the drum” of militarism, “Miss Victory” and her drum-majorette cap and boots).

The malevolent influence of American Freemasons (Masonic apron descending from drum) was a theme among conservative Catholics, as in Spain.

Demonization of national symbols of the United States (“Miss Victory” waves the reverse side of 48-star U.S. flag, and the WW2-era Army Air Corps roundel – of small red disk within white star on large blue disk – is shown on one of the wings).

  3. “The notice provides gun owners, who possess firearms now prohibited under New York’s unconstitutional SAFE Act, the “options” to either surrender their firearms to the police, remove them from the city limits or otherwise render them inoperable.”

Guns? I don’t know nothing about no guns Ms. Charlotte.

      • @meth – I was at least close from an ancient brain. Good catch. Just substitute the word after ’bout and that would be my answer to the mayor. Or as they used to say in a certain Mediterranean country ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ.

        • Maybe we need to look into ceramics as an approach?
Imagine a “night of long knives” scenario, with a few thousand people converging on tactical targets – all using ceramic blades that (might) get through metal detectors. (They don’t pass backscatter x-ray.)
Or, even buying kitchen carving knives once on the ground…

I don’t know – it can get so VERY ugly, so very easily.
Are the elites morons, or intentionally stupid? Or are they just hoping for the collapse each time (Rome, China, Holy Roman Empire, Russia, Germany, et al) and we’re just their latest rape-and-pillage conquest?

          • Dear Jean,

According to the gubmint, 19 hijackers with boxcutters operating out of caves can wreak havoc on the World’s Only Remaining Superpower.

Just imagine what a domestic resistance movement could do with ceramic knives!

            LOL.

          • I’m a fan of the garrote, personally. Can’t beat it for deniability, silence, availability, low-tech, and usability.

            And no tell-tale blood.

          • Meth,
If they don’t bleed, you’re using too thick a wire…

            Cheese wire is good…

Fiber-wise: I need to look into high-test fishline.
You have to get VERY close, though, and preferably come from behind.

Three or four wires, though – even from the front, it’s terrifying to find your skin peeled off, or your forearm sliced to the one… And then they turn to run, and a wire around the neck, and the body keeps going, but it’ll be like the old “leash limit” gag in the cartoons…

            Overall, I’m utilitarian…
Electrical cord, gasoline (or hairspray) and a lighter, flare gun, kitchen knife, utility razor, chainsaw, circular saw, 2X4, ice pick, bow saw… Brick… Seashell, broken bottle…
But with time and a message to make, I think I’d make someone gag to death on a dildo…
The image of them gagging to death with one in their throat, posed and left to be found…

SOMEONE will be seeing a therapist for a long time… 😀

          • E string…..promise. Wrapped around 1 1/4″ round stock, wire long enough to make an overlapping loop, heavy gloves(for you)a pressing need and desire to make it so. Victim, front seat, you in rear, push on neck with foot until wire contacts shoe sole, make sure they know who you are and if necessary, why. .

          • I’m LOL for real, you guys have entirely too much imagination!

I just threw a small handful of chum in the water, and here come Jean and 8-South in such a feeding frenzy they chew the fuckin’ propeller off!

Glad to know I’d have people at my back.

          • meth, who wants to sit around with the bait getting old? Strike, while the iron is hot, so to speak. ha ha Somewhere in my life I have read about the best way to make a garrote and that was fairly much the best from what I have heard. I can make a half dozen is a little while, Garrote’s R Us. I have replaced the wire on cheese cutters for 4-5 decades with guitar string and it works great since it’s pre-stretched.

          • Garrottes are just such labor intensive old tech. The Ty-wrap is the thang. Get the size made for HVAC flex duct. Start the end into the zip buckle to form the loop. Drop it over the head, cinch it tight around the neck with a single hard pull, and walk away. The recipient is doomed.

  4. I need to re-find the source, but I understand there’s similar happening in California – there are people being raided because they are now “prohibited persons” from having a firearm.

    Here:
    http://www.policestateusa.com/2013/california-doubles-its-number-of-full-time-gun-seizure-agents-raiding-homes-of-prohibited-persons/

Still think pro-active defense isn’t the way to go?
The sheep will show their throat – and yours, and your son’s and daughters, and THEIR son’s and daughters….
And pray they are last to the slaughter.

But they will SUBMIT and cower on their knees, and beg the almighty for intervention and to be saved.

Better to DO SOMETHING before the wolf comes knocking.

    • Jean, I read that a few days ago, tried to send it around but email wasn’t working. More of the same, people who legally registered their guns

  5. Dear RAH, Jacob,

    Me three.

    As Larkin Rose put it:

… if the victims… stopped imagining law and authority and government to be real, and just recognized them as a gang of thugs, they could ignore… [them] out of business overnight. Because the victims outnumber the perpetrators a gazillion to one. It is only the belief in the legitimacy of the ruling class, the belief that we are obligated to obey it because it’s authority — “It has the right to rule, we have the obligation to obey.”

That belief is a lie. And that belief is the entire problem.

    • I saw this headline on The Drudge Report, ‘Drone drops contraband into Georgia prison yard…’

I thought: ‘Now that seems like a fun thing to do on the weekends.’

      It might even pay?

        • Dear Ed,

It’s obvious from past sharing that you are an expert tinkerer. Classic exponent of “Yankee ingenuity.”

Maybe you can draw up some blueprints for a DIY drone. How about it?

          LOL.

          • Dear Ed,

I confess. I had to look up “tinker!” LOL.

Not plans – but I recall in the 90s a model aircraft design for a flying disk. Could also go to a Glider/RATO cross-breed. Rocket to get airborne, wings pop out and you go to a glide pattern. And the payload is mostly RDX or similar, instead of batteries like a normal glider. I’ll pull my aerodynamics text out of storage…

Let’s see them deny airspace when you have the radar cross signature of a seagull….

And hit with an FAE or RDX warhead. Only need a few bucks to do this sort of $hit. And dumber methods are cheaper still (Rockets and mortars.)

            We CAN hit back.
            They CAN leave us alone.

I guess – like Predators and Bugs – we’re just born to hate each other…

          • @Jean–

I love chemistry. I hated high school chemistry; why they start kids with the incomprehensibly baroque inorganic chemistry first, I don’t know. But once I hit organic chemistry, it all just clicked into place with that fabulous mental “snick” sound like a good bolt-action rifle going into battery.

I had some incentive, as ecstasy had just been scheduled and supplies became unreliable; so someone I knew who is not me decided to synthesize it. That someone learned a great deal above and beyond the dry theory taught in orgo-chem class; de novo synthesis without the extensive recipes available online today is a great challenge.

Fast forward a few years and that someone who is not me got curious about what makes modern explosives work.

In summary–RDX is one of the best modern high-velocity explosives. But its synthesis is amazingly simple; and the feedstock material is, guess what, the same stuff that’s in those ashless/smokeless camp stove cooking fuels! Yep, methenamine.

Those guys thought Afghanistan is the graveyard of empires? Just wait, you bastards–we’ve got a whole lot of surprises for you.

          • Dear Meth,

I did pretty well in high school chemistry. I even memorized the periodic table. Forgotten most of it since. But I was never intrigued enough to pursue it as a career.

But watching “Breaking Bad” made chemistry look awfully sexy.

As I mentioned to you before, it finally clued me into what “methylamine” was! It’s the stuff that turns crystal meth blue!

I wouldn’t be surprised if a whole slew of kids decide they want to be chemists because of that show.

            LOL!

          • @Bevin–

Wouldn’t that be the most delicious irony, tons of new chemists coming out of “Breaking Bad”!

But hell, if it inspires them, why not? Ecstasy doesn’t make itself. Someone’s gotta cash in on the market.

Besides, the synthetics drive the Elites crazy. They’re much harder to cartelize; much more market-driven in their manufacture.

      • Dear Roth,

All the is are dotted, all the ts crossed, and there’s a paper trail that goes to the POTUS himself… to drop hellfires on the white house.

            THAT would be scary.

These people really don’t know what they are doing, do they? Don’t comprehend that you can’t UNRING that bell, any more than we could if we went off half-cocked and just blew stuff up?

Why do they keep believing our side will blink? Our side has WW2 survivor stories; Vietnam vets, Korea vets, Middle East vets, and average citizens (who may or may not be crazy – but a doomsday prepper can go to ground in ways that would make the VC green with envy… And being crazy, is likely operating in a completely foreign mindset, so foreign frame of reference. They attacked in Springfield, Mass – but “home” is in Tijuana, Mexico, and they have business back and forth across the border every day – so while you’re looking up North, they’re just sitting at home drinking a cold one for the next 6 months – but still back and forth daily.)

Sheer numbers, a handful of Americans can be very effective, without much support.
            With support? Unstoppable.
Just got to keep your head down and not be vocal. (Guess I flubbed that one.)

          • The Key is remembering constantly who’s REALLY responsible for what’s happening–the banksters.

Because while defending oneself against their six-degree-separated mindless roid-rage minions might be fun and satisfying, they’re not the ones who started it.

We have to keep lists…starting at the level of Kissinger, Brezinski, Geitner, Dimon, et al and moving upward to the real criminals–the Rockefellers, Rothschilds, Lazards, Morgans, Carnegies, and so on.

Because when the time comes it’s those we’ll need to dig out of their bunkers and bring to justice.

    • @Bevin – As time goes on I am drifting hard to starboard with these guys. Their wisdom has always (since the 1500’s) been there, but we only look when times get hard. Ha, dumb-ass cows we are.

Since its original circulation in the early 1550s as “de la servitude volontaire ou contr’un,” this short but powerful work seems to find its way back into print whenever the winds of social change began blowing toward tyranny.

      • Dear Gary,

I read “The Law” by Bastiat decades ago. Great stuff.

I think I read snippets of de la Boetie here and there. I don’t remember reading anything of his cover to cover. I’ll run an online search for an ebook. It’s way out of copyright by now.

Over the last few years I’ve become increasingly hardcore anarchist. Before it was “I’d like anarchism, but I guess I could live with minarchism.” Now I’m less willing to settle. Now I’ve come to believe that minarchism is simply unsustainable long term.

I’m really glad I studied psychology for 20 years. It’s really been a resource in my attempts to understand the psychological bases of political ideologies.

As Nathaniel Branden noted, psychological self-awareness was Ayn Rand’s Achilles Heel. As he put it, she was great at looking out at the outside world, but sorely neglected to look in at her own inner world.

A serious oversight for someone who aspires to understand how people in societies opt for one political system over another.

      • Dear Gary,

Yup. This is where Larkin Rose got his contemporary vernacular version of the Myth of Authority.

The Politics of Obedience: The Discourse of Voluntary Servitude
        Etienne de la Boetie
        http://mises.org/document/1218/

La Boétie concludes his exhortation by assuring the masses that to overthrow the tyrant they need not act, nor shed their blood. They can do so “merely by willing to be free.” In short,
Resolve to serve no more, and you are at once freed. I do not ask that you place hands upon the tyrant to topple him over, but simply that you support him no longer; then you will behold him, like a great Colossus whose pedestal has been pulled away, fall of his own weight and break in pieces.16

It was a medieval tradition to justify tyrannicide of unjust rulers who break the divine law, but La Boétie’s doctrine, though non-violent, was in the deepest sense far more radical.

For while the assassination of a tyrant is simply an isolated individual act within an existing political system, mass civil disobedience, being a direct act on the part of large masses of people, is far more revolutionary in launching a transformation of the system itself.

It is also more elegant and profound in theoretical terms, flowing immediately as it does from La Boétie’s insight about power necessarily resting on popular consent; for then the remedy to power is simply to withdraw that consent.”17

        • @Bevin – Interesting how the patriot community is full of guns, farms, and going back 150 years in technology, but little to nothing along the lines of La Boétie and Bastiat for actually fixing things (beyond the “revolution” word. Who is setting the agenda and making the profits? Once again, hiding in plain view?

Ayn Rand was accused of stealing her ideas from others. Larkin Rose has assimilated others and created his own brand. Branden took “Objectivism” declared himself to be a psychologist and made it his own as well (but he is not without his own faults).

I find the origins and solutions to be hundreds of years old, but must be rediscovered, learned and applied.

          • Hell, the more I read the more I understand Ecclesiastes–“There is nothing new under the sun.”

The thoughts we’re relearning on anarchism and Natural Law were expressed by Cicero two thousand fifty-some years ago!

And he was predated by the Chinese libertarian philosophers.

Just the other day I had a sticky problem with graph theory. I’m using something called a “directed acyclic graph” to model logistics for shipping. I have to recalculate the positions and arrival times of thousands of boats on their journeys, quickly, as in, milliseconds.

So I go hunting and find out good old Dr. Tarjan–whose algorithms I’ve used a half-a-dozen times elsewhere–that old bastard figured out rapid graph evaluation forty-plus years ago!

There is nothing new under the sun.

  6. ….So how much more proof do the idiots who cry “conspiracy theorist!” need to show them that the government is absolutely set out to confiscate guns. (and to the unawakened… take a wild guess what happens after they confiscate the guns…).

Kudos for having the image show that “they” are set out to confiscate even .22 lr weapons, not just “assault” weapons.

    • What are you saying, Jacob?
“Mass-man thinks our overlords love us.”?
Also, they aren’t paying attention to what you write,… tonite is the biggest party night of the year.

…But you prolly already knew that.

[And don’t no fuckers think I don’t party,… it’s just that all the rowdy people I know done rowdied on down. … So I drink alone.] Plus, I don’t want to go to jail for what your parents got off with a warning for.

I’m so pissed, but there’s nothing to lash out against if you know, The Score.

      • Youtube music videos and internet porn, the only thing that keeps me sane when I’m drinking alone. George Thorogood’s song “I drink alone” was good the first 1000 times I heard it…

On a positive note: there really are a lot of awake people out there, they’re just either done with posting on the internet or don’t know of places like this to vent their frustration. Spread the word.

        Fuck the government.

        • There are degrees of “wakefulness”. Not everybody is “Awake” to the same extent. Some people are more “Awake” than I am.

Considering 10% of the population or so backed Ron Paul, I’d say somewhere close to that number is at least SOMEWHAT awake.

    • Hey Jacob,

As you no doubt know, “assault weapon” is bogey. Ain’t no such thing. Not really. It is presumed to mean, “full automatic fire military rifle.”
But virtually none such are in private hands – and there have been literally next to no crimes committed with the handful that are in private hands.

No, they mean anything that looks like a military rifle. Even if it is functionally indistinguishable from a hunting rifle. Thus a .22 is an “assault rifle” if it has a composite stock or “looks” military.

In fact, they minimally want all semi-automatics (that is, any gun that chambers a round after being fired) banned. Rifles and pistols.

No, they want them all banned. That is, they intend to restrict their possession to the Goons of Authority – who (somehow) are exempt from the foibles of human nature that lead these people to whine that “people” can’t be “trusted” with guns.

Apparently, some people can be trusted.

      They’re just not us.

  7. Fuckers!

Also, Kiss my ass you two bit sell-out fascists pieces of shit claiming to be better than us all!
    Every single one of ya.

I’m so glad I don’t live there. In the Heart of Darkness.

The Helots there, I wonder how they will react,… or submit?

Myself, if I was there, I’d move.

    • Roth, I have thought about your comment all day. An anonymous address of one of the paid mailbox types, no forwarding address and live on a houseboat. Move the houseboat around, rent from people with just private, electric, sewer, water for cash, not people in the biz and be good neighbors till you find another place and leave that one on good terms, sweeten the kitty a bit when you left, leave all the hook-ups. Never use real names but make them close to answer naturally and be believable. I have friends who’d pick up the fake mailboxes contents and hold them or forward them to Jim Bob Gatorcatcher, no USPS. Leave a forwarding address to lead anybody to think you were in Mexico.

      • If I were younger – and single – I’d give serious thought to doing a Tom Sawyer and “lighting out for the territories.” Disappearing into the deep woods of rural Alaska or some such place and basically squatting on “public” (government) land. It would be a hard life – but this life is getting harder, too. It might soon get very hard indeed. It might prove to be better to live in a backwoods cabin built by hand, living off the land, unnoticed and perhaps unnoticeable – then waiting for the FEMA good squad to round you up at home.

        • Plenty of older couples are living the RV life, especially after the kids are gone.

That allows them to establish an ‘official’ residence where they want, but live where they want for as long as they like, then move on down the road.

        • Bill and Eric,

Huck Finn was a rather great way for me as a kid to break the statist handcuffs placed on me going to pub school. At least reading freedom stories as a kid I was able to be free in the mind, most of my teachers I’d see their lips moving but be somwhere else. Needless to say they had me figured out and would have drugged me out these days. Somewhere between JH and HS I figured out these fuckers were planning on pigeon holing me, so I decided it better be the general than the private and climb the top of that tree canopy to get some light. Again another story.

I’ve done the RV thing quite a bit and still use the RV to rain bird. Unlike snow birds we move from the rain to the sun in the winter. When we first got our RV I did my last contract job in San Jose. We were paying $700/mos for a freaking loud paved lot next to the fire department and an intersection of 4 lane highways. Yes even the big class As hear the road noise. But considering a studio apartment was minimum 1500.00/mos that still wasn’t bad. While working that last contract I was playing the typical shit game of pile in the hole, me being the hole in the ground. Yeah I’m a snow plow and always have done 10 times the work of my peers, in return you get thanked by getting shit on 10x in corporate america.

Something happened though because my wife and I had no debt. Very little expenses and our own living accomodations. For the first time we were free. And when that contract ended (rather suddenly thank god) we took off for an adventure and journey of our life. Not unlike Huck Finn. Suddenly we could live anywhere and we decided that I did not want to go back to being a cog in someone elses wheel.

Thus we began our business on the road. We had substantial savings but we were absolutely determined to use nothing but 20K of it to live and start our internet/engineering business. So though we would travel back and forth for the ideal 70’s temperature year round, we would live much below frugal. Thus upon some consideration I researched into Quartzsite AZ which offers I believe $400.00/yr dumping service and free desert dry camping. I bought the solar cells and my dad joining in on the fun of living off the grid made quite a unique generator that utilized little gasoline. I’ve shared how that worked on a previous commentary. My wife and I loving solace moved as far back from the main highway and staked out a 15+ acre of homestead all to ourselves. Meanwhile I engineered and worked out of that small space. It was purposefully meager, but also quaint and fun. It was cold as hell at night (20 blankets of crushing weight) and when the rains and winds come you hear it on the ceiling of an RV let me tell you. But everynight I saw galaxies of stars and I thank the good God for the experience. And in the cold mornings (before 70’s days), I’d get out of bed to start the generator and I see the beautiful sunrise and I also thanked the kind lord for making me free and a free painting. Now with that said we did this for 3 years until the business was self sufficient. I still remember that cold morning I woke up and I thought Lord this near hell and heaven all wrapped up in one, what do you want me to do. And I don’t know if it was the voice I wanted to hear but it said “just keep going”. And that is what we did! I mean I certainly didn’t want to get stuck in that desert, but I didn’t want to go back to being a cog either.

Well the kind lord was right on the business and our strategy was a hit. I’ve learned to conquer alot of my fears and myths taught by the same public teachers about real success, and I’ve learned that heat can sure be a luxury. And as the buddhist say that you can do anything you want, but it helps to know that when it rains the earth get wet and fire burns (smile). So at least have a roof like an RV over your head helps.

From there and after break even of the business, I will tell you that we had the money to visit and live any place we liked and we did. And was that fun. You meet people in their 70’s that live their whole lives to travel in an RV and go wherever they want, and yet we were doing this in our early 40’s. No boss and enough money to have a hoot. We’ve been to about 10 unique places and lived in each one for at least 6 months. Its nice to be anonymous, where nobody knows your story. You don’t need a business license because if the town doesn’t like you, you just move along.

About 2 years ago, we decided that it was time to upscale once again. We no longer use the RV except for traveling back and forth from NW to SW and back again. The neat thing about an RV is that you don’t have to get stuck in a Roach aparment/house from hell. We pull into a KOA. Unhitch, and take off for the house hunt, spend a month if we like. We get the nicest house every 6 months. Soemtimes with a view of the ocean, mostly always with top of the line appliance otherwise. We get the house we like because the RV gives us the calm to fall back on. Then we use the RV while we clean the scum ( we’re clean freaks) of previous people of house. Most people are pigs even if they don’t mean to be or know it. Move in and have our portable house next to us.

This traveling and living out of an RV is addictive. Minus the loud semis that pull up to you on the road during the night (PS the class A big boys hear this too). You’ll have a hard time planting roots again. Even though we could easily buy a house in cash if we liked, my wife and I are like why? We love moving every 6 months and doing something so different. We get vacant NW ocean beaches in the summer, and warm dry sunny winters. Want to try a house with a new sking and architecture…Check. We never have to live in the same places. You got a loud barking dog next door neighbor..gone? Drug addict meth head next door…gone? Hitch up partner and you’re free.

Now the hard part is the business has gotten so big that I’m having more hard time dragging around the equipment needed to make it hum. But that is another story. I welcome RV life to anyone, but there is a reason of course we don’t do it full time anymore as you are one step above the elements and have a roof over your head at least. Though I wouldn’t trade any of my freedom, experiences, and thriving business because of it for 1000 rubies, well maybe 10,000 rubies.

          Best Regards,
          HR

          • Dear Hot Rod,

Thank you for that most fascinating post.
I could visualize every sentence, just as if I were reading a novel.

Nomadic life is not for everyone, but it sounds like you have figured out the best lifestyle.

          • Hi Dave,

You’ll have to check your state laws to determine, first of all, whether the legal age to apply for a CHP is 18 – or 21.

As to whether to apply (assuming you can), there are pros and cons, either way. A great deal depends on your situation. In my situation – I am entrusted with new cars to test drive every week – it would be a career-ender if I were pulled over for some minor traffic beef and the cop found a gun on me or in the car (assuming I didn’t have a CHP). So, I got the permit.

If I were just driving my own vehicles – and my job were not at issue – I’d be inclined to open carry (legal in my state, Virginia). You’re at more risk of being shot by a cop, of course – he is probably more likely to chimp out at the sight of a gun as opposed to handing the SOB your CHP card and advising him you are armed – but the upside is you’re not on any government list.

I don’t worry about the government lists too much, though – because I have made my personal decision to resist with whatever it takes if they try to take away my guns – or take me away.

That’s a decision we will all have to make, if it comes down to it.

          • Hey.

I live in NYS. I’m in my freshman year of community college, and still living with my parents. I WILL NOT buy a house here. I know the south isn’t too far behind, but to my understanding basically any state is still better than New York.

How do you resist if they try to take your weapons? Is it basically become a martyr at that point, shoot and die? Or is there something more to it… any way to actually survive? If it comes to that?

Man, I just hope private society somehow out-techs government, because we are screwed otherwise…
