Goo-guhl. Heart of online darkness. Soul (and revenue) sucking cartel that is creating – has created – a digital company town. It is almost impossible to make a living outside of Goo-guhl (as they control almost all the online advertising; or at least, the online advertising that pays anything) but in order to make that living, the material on your site had better not displease Goo-guhl. If it does, they will de-list and otherwise screw you. Doubt it? Disbelieve it? I Just got this e-mail from them:

Notice, the vague, open-ended and effectively impossible to comply with demands. Notice that there’s no appeal – just do as you’re told. Remove the “offensive” material. Which -again – is not specifically noted. Just the general drift is enough to get you blackballed. And, of course, there is no way to contact and discuss the matter with an actual human. Insolently, Goo-guhl directs you to their helpful helperson “resource” pages.

Well, now you know why this site depends on you to survive. Will you help?

  1. The new panPacific Review of Literature will launch during the first quarter of 2016, moving from quarterly online publication to monthly as soon as feasible. Any viewpoint will be welcome as long as it is expressed with civility and courtesy. Anonymous contributions will not be considered, but authors may use pen names. Two of the subjects addressed will be an explanation of the principles of Sunni Islam, and a serialization of My Struggle, the autobiography and political manifesto of the late German Chancellor, Adolf Hitler. If you’d like more information, contact me, David Laibow, Executive Editor, at “panpacificreview[at]yahoo.com.ph”. Since the Review is being published in the Philippines for an American audience, I do not believe that censorship will be a problem.

  2. Of note, it is STILL censorship (inappropriate censorship) even if a “private” group is the one doing things.
E.G., googhoul is a “private” company, but it operates with the permission of the FedGov. to pretend it’s private while it answers to government masters is disingenuous at least, and outright idiocy at worst. It is a dodge on the law.
This isn’t the town pub refusing to allow you in (which, in certain towns, might be bad enough – the ONLY pub and social meeting place in town forbids you – because you’re YOU, not because you’re a bad, vicious, or nasty drunk, mind.)
but instead, because they control all the information essentially, they can get away with almost anything – tracking you, starving your bandwidth, censoring your communications – E.G., a google (Android?) phone drops calls for no reason.
It received a SigHup (Signal hangup) and dumped you.

Your list of companies backs this up – it’s a de facto monopoly, but it servers FedGov, so it’s allowed….
Similar to the recent Bill Maher interview, I think of Bernie Sanders, where they admitted – The US is ALREADY a socialist cuntry.

Think it through… About the only thing they haven’t done yet is tattoo the number on your wrist. But you CARRY that number just the same (SSN required to open a f*cking bank account, to get a library card, etc, etc, etc. And a cell phone, which is tied to that SSN, which is always with you… Etc.)

    • And to think, when I registered for my Socialist Insecurity account (1966 IIRC) the card came imprinted “Not to be used for identification.” I still have it. It was signed with a fountain pen, not a ball point (let alone a roller-ball).

    • Governments are obligated by law to control third parties under their influence. I found this out with a Freedom of Information Demand that was resolved in court.

      • That DOES indicate a conspiracy, actually…
Tyranny of the Majority was planned from Day 0…

Why should we expect anything less? Human animal is the same creature (except for being fatter, dumber, less capable, and more complacent; fossil records prove this.)

Makes me think my approach is ever more justified.

  3. Googuhl Books prevails in copyright lawsuit
    http://thehill.com/policy/technology/257141-google-books-prevails-in-copyright-lawsuit

Clear win for Googuhl against Author’s Guild
    https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2015/10/big-win-fair-use-google-books-lawsuit

The ultimate goal of copyright is to expand public knowledge and understanding, which copyright seeks to achieve by giving potential creators exclusive control over copying of their works, thus giving them a financial incentive to create informative, intellectually enriching works for public consumption.

Thus, while authors are undoubtedly important intended beneficiaries of copyright, the ultimate, primary intended beneficiary is the public, whose access to knowledge copyright seeks to advance by providing rewards for authorship.

      • “for the good of society” or “for the good of the public” means “for the good of the majority as determined by TPTB

  4. One more comment I would like to make is about the original article that got google to pull the ads in the first place.

Most people I know seem to not give a care about real criminal acts committed by soldiers. Many think they “have it coming” or whatever. Or that is simply what happens in a war. People give soldiers wide latitude when it comes to behavior during wars. But many of the victims, are innocent civilians, not even the combatants or the terrorists.

I am not making all soldiers out as criminals. But there is a group of predators in every society, and they are drawn to the military just because of what it is. The US military goes out of its way to tell the public how it tries to not involve civilians during its operations, but that is an impossible thing. No amount of rules and regulations will stop the predators. If the military doesn’t stop them from their criminal acts, nobody will. And for the most part, the military doesn’t do that much to police itself.

Still think this doesn’t concern you?

Think about it. How many retired military people are now cops in your town? Many departments are almost entirely former military. It’s seen as a natural post-military career. If these guys get away with crimes in Iraq, they could be patrolling your street a few years later. Your town, county, state or federal agency will not look that deep into their backgrounds, they will commend them for their service. Then hand out badges, guns, a weekly paycheck and a Dodge Charger.

Do you want that guy that dismembered someone in Iraq writing you a speeding ticket? Do you think you look that much different from a civilian in Iraq? You don’t to him.

I used to think making retired military people cops was a natural thing too. I think its a wrong assumption to think its a good idea in all cases. Yes, most former military people will never cause a problem as cops. But the predators will be drawn to police jobs just as much as military ones. Especially if they know they will likely get away with criminal acts.

It may be as bad as allowing lawyers to be politicians.

    • richb – you make some good points. Of course, there should not be nearly as many ‘retired’ military as there are. If the gunvermin were really only concerned with defense, instead of running (or trying to run) the world, ‘our’military could be much smaller.

  5. The YouTube channel stormcloudsgathering has encountered the same thing. SCG produces a lot of antiwar content.

    http://youtu.be/OqkIr-rUNpg

Yesterday I was listening to a podcast by some former libertarians/ former ancaps. In it they noted that the most effective means of censorship is not through government but through platform restrictions. There but a handful of companies that own most of the major platforms in use (Google/YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, PayPal, Gofundme, Amazon). These companies can more efficiently censor thought crime and hate speech than the government.

    • Note comment above.
Point was, just because it’s not literally being done by “the government” doesn’t mean it’s not (a) censorship, and (b) merely an end-run around the literal meanings of the words. Get GooGhoul to “not support” (via ads) content the FedGov finds problematic…? Are they or are they not “The Ministry of Truth”? (Given that GooGhoul has established a “system” to test for “truth” – actually checks how often you’re linked to, to establish “truth” of your page. So, “Glo-Bull Warming” advocates each make their own page, link to each other, and “the science is settled.” Just an example of gaming the system.)

It’s PAST TIME to start terminating them. We have only one of the four boxes left to us, and TPTB wish to remove that ASAP. They are quite successful over all, making incremental encroachments – licensing, registration, restrictions on features of guns, indoctrination via publik skuul, buybacks, taxing ammo, restrictions on storage (limiting usefulness when needed, under rubric of safety), and driving the costs out of reach of those most likely to be affected by violence….
Not to mention, “at discretion” on the licenses, redefining mental health to include the “sane” (there’s an effort to make wanting to own a gun a sign of mental illness), medicating children (mostly boys) into somnambulence/zombification, destruction of social order (while we might not like the collectivist nature of the older ways, there’s an interesting read here: http://www.returnofkings.com/62716/the-damaging-effects-of-jewish-intellectualism-and-activism-on-western-culture. Leaving aside the “anti-Semitic” {*Cough*BULLSHIT!*Cough*} nature of it, the salient points work, and apply also to the Leftist shits that are our enemies. It fits with Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals,” too.)

So while we’re being shown the “Alpha Males” as gun-using man-apes (Vin Diesel in Fast & Furious? Whatever his name is in “Walk through the tombstones,” I think it was called? “Run all night”? Etc.)
We are destroying the human bonds of community at the same time (No god but the onanistic “I”)
We are destroying the sense of human nature (Sorry to over-link to RoK, but well written, and echoed in … Questionable blogs I cannot get to from work; without details, a “female mimic” was bemoaning the masculinization of the female; also see “Raunch culture” book: http://www.returnofkings.com/33927/why-are-american-women-acting-like-men)

In our culture, everyone’s a “winner” (Participant trophies?) – so no one ever grows a thick skin. (And, in a world where the bullied is punished for defending themselves, with the same punishment as the bully? Never any consequences for bad behavior?) Sense of entitlement and no concept of achievement, or consequences.

BTW, RoK is not the only site mentioning this. There’s a collection of sites noting the same thing, and some of the more unusual ones are actually written by gays, transsexuals, leftists… And they see the same symptoms, and usually note the same causes.

      TL;DR version:
Traditional culture is better for everyone, overall. That includes the collections of Religion, Ethnicity, Language, Country.
It’s what BINDS us together that is important – not “celebrating our differences”, which, by definition, DIVIDES us to atomic individualists.
And Government wishes to leverage power, so it breaks down all but The State, the New God.

  6. The sad thing is, the government doesn’t have to censor anything. These stooges will do it for them. Hitler would be smiling, his job would be so much easier today. Ever wonder why these companies aren’t ever broken up for being a monopoly?

Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany and facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg were overheard discussing her constituents who disagree with her policy of allowing mostly Muslim refugees into Germany. They called it hate speech, but I imagine most Germans consider it an invasion. It will be shut down, Zuckerberg promised.

    • Bear in mind that one of those idiots of Merkel’s government was stabbed just the other day, and is still in the hospital as of yesterday, by one of her “constituents,” whom she was consciously ignoring.
The assailant, a middle-aged German man, is being demonized as being “anti-refugee.” He stated point-blank he was tired of the invasion (paraphrasing, I don’t have a quote).

      It is starting.
The question is, will we be predator or prey?
      Buddhists would die peacefully.
      I am not a Buddhist…. Are you?

        • Unfortunately necessary.
Reflected by my time in Hell (grade school.) Taught not to fight, not to respond, to be the bigger man, and ultimately that my parents were not only ineffective, incapable, and clueless, but actively wished more violence on me (which I learned as an ADULT, mind), I think perhaps if you get pushed too far – you learn to see the flow, the direction – and you become the darkness.
          It is self-defense.
“He who fights monsters must take care, lest he become a monster. And know this: if you stare long into the abyss, the abyss stares also into you.” -Freud.

“Battle is the most magnificent competition in which a human being can indulge. It brings out all that is best; it removes all that is base. All men are afraid in battle. The coward is the one who lets his fear overcome his sense of duty. Duty is the essence of manhood.”

“Nobody ever defended anything successfully, there is only attack and attack and attack some more.”

“A good plan violently executed now is better than a perfect plan executed next week.”

“The object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his.”

          Patton

    • Monopolies are ONLY made possible by govt. or some other violence. They exist to limit or eliminate choice, for the benefit of those who can’t compete. The original “Trust Buster” T.R., was a socialist who hated capitalism, just like FDR, who claimed to save capitalism from communism.

      • Hi Don,

I’ve been thinking about this a lot recently. And you’re right that a legal monopoly is only possible when it is supported by force or its threat. However, there may be a valid criticism of de facto monopolies. Like Google, for example. While it’s true there are no legal restrictions forbidding competition or the use of alternatives, Google nonetheless effectively dominates the Internet, including Internet advertising. It has achieved this not necessarily by offering the best service at the lowest cost but by dint of its enormity and ubiquity and the complacent general acceptance of it by the masses.

Mind, I do not support government intervention or some other use of force. That would simply affirm the method of dealing with things that got us to where we are now. That said, Google is still a pernicious entity in my opinion. It has created a kind of online “company town” economy. Very hard to not play by Google’s rules and not lose.

How to deal with this, then? I’m not sure.

In my own little corner of the Net, I have tried – and somewhat succeeded – simply relying on reader support rather than bending knee to Google. But it is very difficult, financially, to go against Google and survive.

I think, ultimately, it is like so many things – it will take a moral awakening and people electing to do the right thing rather than the expedient thing or the thing that everyone else is doing.

I plead guilty myself to some of this stuff I bitch about, incidentally. For example, I have downloaded “free” music rather than pay the artist who created it and who deserves to be paid for his work (assuming I want to listen to his music, that is).

There really is no free lunch – and if we take someone else’s, we shouldn’t bitch when someone takes ours!

  7. Eric,

It seems like the further down the rabbit hole you go, the closer you seem to shrugging off atlas. As much as I would hate to see the site disappear, I would understand if you made the decision to pull the plug. Passing the cup around every month doesn’t seem to be a very sustainable long-term business model.

Then again I am in the same boat as yourself in many ways. I am an Amazon reseller and I rely on their permission to sell on their site. I have a 100% positive seller feedback and have sold over 10,000 items within the last year. Amazon has the power to destroy my business in the blink of an eye.

Amazon is VERY vague when it comes to product restrictions and changes rules/procedures on a whim. Many manufacturers don’t like grey market 3rd party sellers and they have figured out a way of eliminating them. They simply place an order then once the item is received the “customer” claims it is counterfeit. All it takes is one or 2 of these claims and the automated bots shut down your store. The appeal process takes weeks in which you must prove your innocence via e-mail.

It’s quite a scary thought that I try not to dwell on…

  8. Fuck ’em. I will close the site down before I self-censor a got-damned thing on these pages.

    Amen!

Unless you’re using one of their web hosting services (you’re not, are you?) or running their ads (which you haven’t for a couple of years), then indeed it’s none of their got-damn business what you publish on your site. A nice, bold-faced “FUCK YOU!” is the only response that that email merits.

  9. That reads like a letter from the IRS, of which I’ve gotten a few over the years, same mindset/attitude: resistance is futile, submit to your master’s bidding or else. These agencies must all draw from the same pool of fucktards to set policy.

  10. The article has no comments, no ones looking at the article anymore. Copy the text, save the picture somewhere offline and safe.

Then take it down and pretend to comply, as they’ve demanded at gunpoint. (Googuhl doesn’t request things, let’s get real here.)

And then hold a site wide Herofest in googuhl’s honor. Or maybe a “Two Weeks Hate” where each day articles are posted about why googuhl is absolute toxic sh!t, and what might be done about them. Trick or f**king treat.

PS: I am just trashing Clover’s posts at this point. Unless anyone wants to read/reply to his colon coughs?

      • Re: Clover – If he manages to write anything that actually relates to someone else’s post, it might be interesting to see. But there has been none of that to date.

      • Everything runs by bots these days. I am not sure anyone is even making censoring decisions at google. It’s all about exploiting the bots’ programming. My guess is that the regime and/or its supporters go about reporting objectionable content on webpages. When they reach a critical mass the google bots start flagging common elements. Then when the bots find the same elements elsewhere they send out the email. I don’t know that it works that way, but that’s how I think it works. That’s how I would have coded it to work.

As to Clover, when it can make a reasoned and supported argument then let it through. Problem is, it can’t manage to do that.

        • Largely because the rules are kept vague. For example this line.

“Additionally, please be aware that the URL above is just an example and that the same violations may exist on other pages of this website or other sites that you own. ”

The way I read it, could even mean a second site that may not involve Google ads at all, if they decide they don’t like your politics. Let alone other pages on the same site.

Not serving the ads on the individual “offending” page would be reasonable “compromise” in most people’s book, but since Google holds all the cards, its their way or the highway.

And remember, they have selective enforcement. I have seen Adsense served on pages that also violate (like p*rn, clear click bait or gambling) the rules that stay with no issues.

          • Mith, glad you liked it, wish others had checked it out also. They ain’t kiddin.

I found it looking for a molon labe flag for my truck. But I’ll be back there and peruse everything on their site and the sites they link to.

          • I liked the survey as well.
            Problems abound, though.
It’s easy to say what you’ll do on a survey, without consequences.
In real life, it’s a bit more complicated. Rare people would perform the correct action (sometimes an immoral action) all the time. Most wouldn’t. Even those of us who answer correctly on the survey (myself, for example, as I failed to make efforts to get to a gun control debate in Lexington, MA, where there was no direct public transit, at cost of a day’s pay, and in a rabidly assholish state, where I might well face problems from The State as a result of being there.)

Correct action: Machine gun every living creature in support of the bill.
            Collateral damage acceptable.

            Actual action:
Go to work and get paid, and pray for humane results.

I can make excuses all day (Ex.: I heard about it on the radio on my way in one morning, announcing the meeting was that day. no public transit, so no easy way to get there. We were already strapped for cash at the time. Etc.)
But I should’ve gone anyway, and if I had the chance to thin the herd of the leftists, I should’ve taken it – they grow like weeds, after all…. And want others to decide things for them. I’m merely doing them a favor (no matter how you figure it, deciding their life decides their fate anyway…)

            Thought provoking.
Not sure I like that reflection, mind – but reality is what it is, only by facing it can we move forward and make ourselves better.

            • Meetings are intentionally run to get the desired results. They are set up just to give the appearance that input matters. So the powers that be and their supporters can say ‘but you didn’t attend the meeting’. What they don’t say is that those asking questions and making remarks are often pre-approved. When there isn’t pre-approval other techniques are used to prevent undesired comments and questions. If that fails the questions are avoided and the person asking them is cut off for ‘time’ or simply removed from the room.

One of the methods is a modified version of the Delphi technique. There are others. But the goal is generally to get people to think that they were simply in minority and feel they were heard. Of course few understand their rights and that tyranny of the majority would be all it was even if that majority was real.

              • Our village meetings were open to non-agenda comments at their end. The elected would go into an alleged “private conference” until my audience got tired of waiting and left. There was real fear of my orations.

              • Not to be a dick, I know that…
                though it always bears repeating.

“Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.”
                John F. Kennedy

                We know this game…
