At My Local Gander Mountain

I stopped by to celebrate the death of what’s left of the republic – and to buy some… supplies.

Lots of other people had the same idea. There were at least 20 people at the gun cases, looking over pistols and rifles. On a Weds. at 10:45 a.m.

Ammo shelves being vacuumed. No 7.62x 39 in the house at all. But I was able to snatch several boxes of 12 gauge slugs.

Things are going to be getting interesting… soon, I think.

    • There were some 45’s in our Gander Mt. but no 22 LR’s at all. No 22 LR’s in Walmart either except birdshot and some 22WMR’s.

In the past I Never saw a woman in the gun area of Any store, but in the last year or so every single time I go I see a woman tagging alongside a guy – and the women do Not look bored – that was the strangest part, for my area of the country anyway.

Many times this year I’ve seen women grab a box of ammo and ask their guy, “How about these?” It was an optimistic sight.

The Gander Mt. here now gives out numbers at the gun counter for service, never saw that before either… and at 11 a.m. on a weekday.

My other small gun shop guy said the nations largest online distributor usually carries 2000 long guns and 2000 pistols, they had two of each yesterday. That’s what I recall he said anyway

It’s a lot like a mania, but it’s quite different too.

  1. The news coverage of the King’s pronouncements today was amusing. The talking heads quickly glossed over the fact of the 23 executive orders, each of them no doubt illegal, to stress the “common-sense” legislative proposals suggested by the King. Of course if they were so “common sense” they’d already be executed—right?—but never mind. The King decrees them as such and so they are in the eyes of the media sycophants.

  2. eric, i completely agree. i wanted to take the mr2 for a drive so at 2 pm on sunday i went to a local gun shop adn range. I have frequented that place about once a month for the last 6 years.
I was there a week before Newtown, this past sunday it was cleaned out. They typically have 30-40 ar’s, they were all gone. no bulk ammo at all. Handgun cases were half full adn the back wall where normally there are 100-120 long guns had less than 15 and 4 of them were benelli semi autos that are pretty salty.
To contrast that it was almost the busiest I have ever seen, I had to park the car in an improvised parking spot because the place was packed. There was a line of people waiting to talk to the staff asking questions about courses like pistol training and home defense.

I have never seen it like this. Politicians are posturing and claiming guns need to be taken away or greatly limited and people are voting with their wallets.
