Since we’ve been discussing things simian (per my latest rant) I figured now would be as good a time as any to stick my paw out and remind everyone that this site depends on your support to stay afloat. We just upgraded to a new, higher capacity server – in order to serve you better, with faster load times (and also the capability to “serve” more people on site at any given moment). Of course, this costs us money. We’re now spending about $200 a month on the server – but we decided it was worth doing and hope you will, too.
Take a look at our pie chart on the main page (top righthand side). We’re way behind. Should be at about 55 percent by now (a bit past mid-month) but we’re not even at 30 percent.
This whole thing – not just EPautos, but independent online media generally – is an ongoing test case of the viability of non-corporate media in the Internet age. With 100,000-plus people visiting this site every month, we should have no trouble meeting expenses (and being in a position to devote full-time attention to this gig). All it would take is 5 percent of the 100k to send us the equivalent in donations of two Starbucks lattes per month. Unfortunately, we – like other independent media – have found it’s no easy thing to get even 1 percent of our audience to support us.
Speaking just for me (Dom can add his fifty cents) getting rich is not the object. Not for me. If it were, I would not be doing this. I’d be doing something hacky – but safe and profitable – like writing for a mainstream paper (or web site).
But making a living – paying the bills – is not optional.
So, please: If you think EPautos is worth supporting, please consider supporting EPautos!
Our donate button is here. (Or just go back to the main page and click on the thing under the pie chart.)

$50,000.00 a month is a serious nut. Are you sure you didn’t mean .5% or .05%. That’s assuming you meant 2 Tall lattes at $5 or so each as opposed to Grandes or Ventis……
