Over some guy’s random comment. They scream, heads down! hands up! at the passengers as they hut! hut! hut! onto the plane with their guns drawn.
(CNN) — A passenger captured dramatic cell phone video of a Canadian SWAT team storming onto a Sunwing flight at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport Friday. The video shows the police tactical team swarming onto the plane with their weapons drawn, yelling at passengers to get their hands up, and forcefully removing a 25-year-old man from the aircraft.
The airline said the Panama-bound plane was forced to return to Toronto Friday morning about 45 minutes into the flight after a passenger, identified by authorities as Ali Shahi, made a “direct threat against the aircraft.”
Witnesses told CNN affiliate CTV that Shahi said he wanted to bomb Canada.
“The Sunwing flight crew followed the appropriate procedures and turned the flight around in cooperation with the FAA and Canadian authorities,” said Sunwing Travel Group Spokeswoman Janine Chapman.
Shahi, a Canadian citizen, was jailed on charges including mischief to property and endangering the safety of an aircraft, police said. He was scheduled for a bail hearing in Brampton, Ontario, on Saturday.
No one on the flight was injured, the airline said.

The evil of clover, which he is blind to, is the incredible degree to which he has deviated from what it means to be a liberal.
He comes across as a deranged fanatic to us, but in his mind he is a benevolent liberal. He fails to see where he’s been lured off into into the weeds, by slick talking psychopaths that prevent him from reflection on his beliefs and actions in the light of truth.
Maybe there are unseen clovers lurking here who might be escorted back into the fold of being a liberal, which is where many people best belong, and where they will be far less of a nuisance and may instead be good neighbors and maybe even friends.
Anything falsely accusatory, inanely inflammatory, or purely ad hominem of clover’s should continue to be deleted of course. But perhaps one out of 20 of his posts would clear these simple hurdles.
Liberalism – harm principle
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harm_principle
The harm principle holds that the actions of individuals should only be limited to prevent harm to other individuals. J S Mill argued that, “The only purpose for which power can be rightfully exercised over any member of a civilized community, against his will, is to prevent harm to others.
Harm can also result from a failure to meet an obligation. Morality generates obligation. Duty may be exacted from a person in the same way as a debt, and it is part of the notion of duty that a person may be rightfully compelled to fulfill it.
The maxims are, first, that the individual is not accountable to society for his actions, in so far as these concern the interests of no person but himself. Advice, instruction, persuasion, and avoidance by other people, if thought necessary by them for their own good, are the only measures by which society can justifiably express its dislike or disapprobation of his conduct.
Secondly, that for such actions as are prejudicial to the interests of others, the individual is accountable, and may be subjected either to social or to legal punishments, if society is of opinion that the one or the other is requisite for its protection.
The second of these maxims is the social authority principle.
The social authority principle opens the question of broader definitions of harm, up to and including harm to the society.
The concept of harm is not limited to harm to another individual but can be harm to individuals plurally, without specific definition of those individuals.
This is an important principle for the purpose of determining harm that only manifests gradually over time—such that the resulting harm can be anticipated, but does not yet exist at the time that the action causing harm was taken.
It also applies to other issues—which range from the right of an entity to discharge broadly polluting waste on private property, to broad questions of licensing, and even to the right of sedition.
Law of Equal Liberty
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Law_of_equal_liberty
Herbert Spencer said “that every man may claim the fullest liberty to exercise his faculties compatible with the possession of like liberty to every other man. Each has freedom to do all that he wills provided that he infringes not the equal freedom of any other.”
Spencer derived the principle on a belief in the principles of scientific evolution. He believed that human happiness was an intrinsically developed emotion.
He held that “man’s purpose can be obtained only by the exercise of his faculties” and therefore that exercise must be a human right. Restraining the liberty of someone else prevents him from pursuing happiness.
In order for this to be a universal ethic, or a moral code that applies to all individuals rather than just some, it would have to apply to all individuals.
Therefore, if an individual restrains another individual from doing the same, then he has overstepped his rights. As a result, rights are equalized among all people.
– I would say libertarians believe in egalitarianism. Libertarian egality, the leveling of the masses, means we all have equal rights to do what we please, so long as we harm no one elses equal rights in the process.
We are all on a free and level playing field in that regard. That is what a libertarian gleans from the words “all men are created equal.”

What if Bloomberg comes to national power? A billionaire oligarch could crush what little remains of this culture.
Remember Giuliani and his goon squads. Going door to door against everyone. He turned Times Square into a cynical feminist puritan islamic values Disneyland.
Bloomberg came in like a closer in the 9th inning and finished the transformation of former freedom loving New Yorkers into some of the worst statists you can find anywhere in the world.
Schwartzenegger could have done a lot of damage. They had his secret love child with his maid that they could have held over his head.
I suspect they have something extremely damaging on Obama. That’s why he’s so effective. I think he really believes and means some of things he said. But whatever they have on him means losing his wife, kids, stature, so he goes along and they keep their brokeback barack mountain sex scene footage out of the public eye as long as he remains the NSA’s puppet.
Hitler Speech – Nov 1942
“If Judaism imagines by any chance that it can bring about an international world war for the extermination of the European races, the result will not be the extermination of the European races, but the extermination of the Jews in Europe.”
They have always derided me as a prophet. Today countless numbers of those who laughed at that time, laugh no longer. Those who are still laughing now, also will perhaps laugh no longer after a while . . . will spread beyond Europe and over the whole world. International Jewry will be recognized in all its demoniac peril. We National Socialists will see to that.
This peril is recognized in Europe, and country after country is adopting our legislation. Thus today we see in this vast struggle only one single possibility; it is that of complete success, and there now remains only the question of whether there are any reasons at all to doubt this success.
We all know the mission of the National Socialist Party. I need not repeat it today. We started out to fight this enemy in the interior, we have done everything to find our way through this world by our work. What have we not organized! They have laughed at us, yes, always they have laughed whenever we had new substitute materials (Ersatzstoffe). We have not done this for pleasure. We were compelled to do it. Either millions of men would have not had work and unbelievable values would not have been produced or we would have had to adapt ourselves to new methods. We have done it.”

Once the Germans Jews laughed at my prophecy. I do not know whether they are still laughing, or whether they are laughing on the other side of their faces. I can simply repeat — they will stop laughing altogether, and I will fulfill my prophecy in this field too
Jan 1941
Every one of our prophecies was laughed at, every statement was represented as ridiculous, every picture of the future described as a fantastic chimera. We were greeted only with mockery and laughter. Now I can only say to this world: “But I have armed and very much so.” The German people know it today. But it does not know nearly all.
Major Roesler 1942 Massacre in the Ukraine
I requested one of the policemen to kill him off, but he answered with a laugh: “I fired seven shots into his belly, he’ll croak on his own.” The persons who had been shot were not placed in the grave in any order, but stayed there lying as they had fallen from the wall of the pit after they were shot. All these persons had been killed by shots in the back of the neck and then finished off with pistol shots from the top. I did not acquire any excessive sensitivity of the emotions during my service in the World War and in the French and Russian campaigns of this war; and experienced much that was more than unpleasant when I was active in the volunteer units in 1919, but I cannot recall ever having witnessed a scene such as that I have described here. I am not concerned here with whatever court decisions may have formed the basis for the executions I have described, I felt it was not reconcilable with our concepts of custom and decency up to the present time and that a mass slaughter of human beings should be carried out quite publicly, as on an outdoor stage. I wish to add that according to statements by soldiers who frequently watch these executions, several hundreds of persons were said to be shot every day

Looking for Comedy in the Muslim World has drawn some controversy because of its title, which Albert Brooks refused to change. After Sony dropped the film, it was picked up and released by Warner Independent Films.
Brooks claims that he made the film in response to the increasingly violent rift between the West and the Muslim world after the attacks of September 11, 2001 because the topic has not been thoroughly explored by the arts.
He says that “there had to be some way to separate the 1.5 billion people who don’t want to kill us from the 100,000 or so who do. I thought if I could get five Muslims and six Hindus and maybe 3 Jews to laugh for 90 minutes, then I’ve accomplished something.”

– The casual tolerance of this kind of brutality is shocking to read. Yet we tolerate cruise missile strikes, drone missile strikes. Far worse massacres, without even a human being present at the scene of death. How is that not far more chilling than anything Hitler ever orchestrated?

• Without doubt, ferocious and disordered men are much weaker than timid and ordered ones. For order chases fear from men and disorder lessens ferocity.
• The greatest remedy that is used against a plan of the enemy is to do voluntarily what he plans that you do by force.

Morning, Bevin!
Of course, many people initially regarded Hitler as a cartoon – a joke. A clown. But as he himself said once he’d assumed power, “those people are not laughing anymore.”
I expect the same thing to happen here, again.
Bush, Obama, et al are merely John the Baptist figures.
Something much worse – and not at all funny – may be just around the corner.
Dear Eric,
True. Many libertarians have been talking about 9/11.
Or more to the point, “9/11 Part II” or “Son of 9/11” or “9/11, The Sequel.”
What’s the next big false flag attack going to be like. It has to be even bigger than 9/11. Sequels as we know, always up the ante on car chases, gun fights, and explosions.
So what’s it going to be? The school shootings such as Sandy HOok are small potatoes.
Scary thought.
Me too, Brent.
Also Animal House. Which likewise ridiculed turgid militarism. And, of course, MASH – which did the same.
Back then, it was mainstream to regard buzz-cut hut! hut! hutters! as nutters.
Not anymore.
It’s amazing the sea change in attitudes.
You’ve been saying this for a while. It’s finally starting to sink in.
Animal House (1978) especially, is an important indicator of the State of the Union.
National Lampoon who funded and produced Animal House was out of Harvard. Harvard is the Cambridge of the US. The institute with the largest endowment and the most powerful institutional site of American economic and military power.
So as a still healthy empire in 1978, one part of our vast machinery of centralized planning was still able to mock and poke a little fun at all the other centralized planning machinery.
Leviathan could still laugh at himself, and make a few buck doing it. The comedy in England was at a similar fundamental level.
Fast forward to today, and the only comedy the state allows is to make fun of lawbreaking celebrities. To laugh at the foibles and differences of the various societal classes. Especially to laugh at the classes with the least loyalty to the centralized planners.
Harvard sold, spun off, let National Lampoon languish and quietly die a quiet death in obscurity. Our current Leviathan, Hitler, Mao, and Stalin. They all have about the same amount of tolerance for dissenting humor.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Lampoon,_Inc.
National Lampoon, Incorporated is a company formed in 2002 in order to use the brand name “National Lampoon” in comedy and entertainment.
The CEO of the company was originally Dan Laikin, who was prosecuted in 2008 for illegal stock manipulation. After Laikin resigned, Tim Durham took over, but in 2009 Durham was investigated and charged with operating a Ponzi scheme.

Monty Python by 1983 was still funny, but there was a pointed tone to the humor. It seemed propagandistic in its jokes against Catholicism and other systems besides Anglican Fabian Socialism.

Is there any cutting edge mainstream humor in England anymore? Or is it all Downton Abbey and such? Is the Commonwealth Leviathan’s sense of humor equally diminished I’d like to know?

Just once, I’d love to see a citizen tell them: Fuck you, asshole.
The cringing and submission turns my stomach…

Well, not quite “Ha!” But I imagine it happens a lot more than we are allowed to know.
And, We Never see it on YouTube.

You know, it’s The American Way!?
It’s a small blurb, “Live At Eleven”.
…A directed blurb. …A limited blurb. …An only what you’re allowed to know, blurb.
eric, if you’d been in my living room July 25, 2003 you could have heard those words. I had hurt my back severely the day before and could barely move. When they were incoherently screaming at me to get on the floor I just looked at them. The head dick said “If you don’t get on the floor I’m gonna blow your head off”. I said “Fuck you, it would be a relief”. He flat ass didn’t know what to do. One guy who knew me from the Sheriff’s office lowered his gun and helped me down to the floor. It might still work that way here, maybe not, but at the time I was in so much pain I couldn’t really move on my own. Then they double cuffed me and tore the house to shreds needlessly. Our dog ran out the back door into the pasture and my wife, sans hardly any clothing just walked past them. They told her to get down and she said “Not till I get my dog back”. They said “He’ll come back”. She said “he damned sure will because I’m going to find him”. She went out and called him back and put him in the kennel and left the other dog running loose since he was an Australian Shepherd, Border Collie mix who wouldn’t hurt a fly. They left that dog strung up on the big barn door so he could barely breathe in the hot sun(110 that day) and he was nearly dead when a friend risked his life to come out and rescue the dogs since they’d told us there would be nobody allowed on the property till they said otherwise. I called my buddy from jail and he did that for us despite what they said. He called the bailbondsman, my nephew and sister and all hell broke loose…….again.
Dear 8sm,
Oh, man, what can one say?
All of us, including me, have correctly noted how on a day to day basis, America was not always like this.
But you know the chilling thing about it? On a structural basis, beneath the surface, America and every other society victimized by a conventional monopolistic government, has ALWAYS been like this.
It was merely that the underlying reality had yet to break through to the surface. Liberal democracy was a caterpillar. Sheeple assumed it was what it was. Little did they realize it was also a moth, the moth being of course a totalitarian police state.
The only people on this planet of 6 billion who realize this, are the free market anarchists. Now that’s a sobering thought.
Bevin, you’ll love this. My bailbondsman warned us the BATFE was going to come back but never gave a reason. What to do? It wasn’t an easy choice to stay but with livestock and pets it actually was so we just started repairing the things we could. Turns out they were coming back to bust us for our speed-making stuff, fiberglas patch kits for plastic tanks. I couldn’t quite make the connection and I guess they couldn’t either since they didn’t return. Since I have always done all my own a/c work, I had various vacuum pumps and even a stash of scientific thermometers, something I just sort of collect but use to measure air temps, ambient and refrigerated or heated at various points. They took all my “speed-making” stuff so that was a pain since the patch kits are quite expensive. They probably threw all my thermometers away or took them home. Oh, and they took my vacuum pumps so that was a big expense also.
Dear 8sm,
It’s a testament to your gentlemanly forbearance that you have not become one of those cartoon caricatures of a “bomb-throwing anarchist,” but have instead remained a principled anarcho-capitalist.
http://cache2.artprintimages.com/lrg/17/1740/W3X3D00Z.jpg
Ali G: So what does ATF stand for?
ATF trainer: Alcohol, tobacco, firearms and explosives.
Ali G: And what else does you sell?
Dear 8sm,
BATF. Talk about a entity that has absolutely no “raison d’etre,” no reason for being.
I mean, wtf. What does it do except persecute people for owning THINGS??? STUFF???
You own alcohol. You own tobacco. You own firearms. So what? BFD! Even more absurd, thermometers, because you might be using them to manufacture “controlled substances.” More THINGS. More STUFF.
The world is insane, and the inmates are the government.
Because human society is largely composed of morons it is very easy for malicious members of the enforcement class to simply declare various items as being for illegal purposes regardless if they know better or not. Even regular household items can be construed as such if they really want to get someone.
But this is why the human race builds technology and then destroys it. All it takes is these morons and those who take advantage of them to get enough of an upper hand and the tools and knowledge are destroyed as being ‘evil’ for one reason or another. People are killed because they have knowledge and skills other humans don’t understand. The social persecution of knowledge and intelligence continues through thousands of years. Morons leading morons or morons lead by malicious people manipulating them, the result is the same.
Time will eventually clear items from orbit, so the only safe place is the moon. A place the morons will never get to because they’ll destroy the means before ever going. The only way anything has a chance to survive on earth is to build it out of massive stones. Even then it’s just a chance, since even these surviving monuments have much of their stone taken to be reused or become subject of explosives, target practice, or other destructive acts.
The better I understand humanity the more I understand why in the previous ages people built the massive monuments.
But getting back to the social persecution of those who have self reliance , intelligence and knowledge, the eventual result is the desired result, to make morons of us all. People stop building, stop creating, stop maintaining, stop learning. The world reverts and people have to start again.
Dear Brent,
“Even regular household items can be construed as such if they really want to get someone. ”
So true. All sorts of ludicrous laws forbid this, that, or the other inanimate object, because “It could be used as a weapon.”
Take nunchucks. Nothing more than sticks connected with a piece or rope or chain. So they’re “deadly weapons.” So what? Unless one violates the NAP, the real or imagined lethality of any inanimate object is totally irrelevant.
This is true even for military armaments. Even Stinger missiles. Hell, the terrorists in the CIA have already supplied terrorists in Middle East with them anyway. What’s a few more in private hands?
Besides, as I never tire of repeating, gun control is not really gun control. Gun control is really people control. When someone says he wants gun control, what he really means is that he intends to deprive you of your guns, so that he can control you with his guns.
Yes Bevin Libertarians are anarchists. Definition: : a person who believes in, advocates, or promotes anarchism or anarchy; especially : one who uses violent means to overthrow the established order
Yes Bevin that is exactly what a libertarian is. They use violence to get what they want. You want chaos and lynch mobs instead of organization.
Etymology is not another of Clover’s strengths.
Anarchism means no government, Clover.
Meaning, they reject this idea birthed by Clovers that some people are entitled to rule over others without their explicit individual consent.
By the way, Clover: Your short-bus cadence is always amusing. “Yes Bevin… ” repeated several times. It reminds me of the quacking of a duck, which is perhaps not surprising.
Did you ever watch Dr. Shrinker back in the ’70s?
I’d give “a million dollars” to have his shrink ray, shrink you down to size and place you in a terrarium for observation.
Dear Clover,
Let’s try something. Let’s take your argument one baby step at a time, and see if we can get somewhere. I doubt it, but let’s try anyway.
You say, “They use violence to get what they want.”
Leaving aside who “They” refers to for the moment, this remark suggests that you consider “using violence to get what one wants” a bad thing, something that no one ought to do. Is that correct? Is that your premise?
I will await your answer to this before moving on to the next step.
Dear Eric,
“By the way, Clover: Your short-bus cadence is always amusing.”
ROFLMAO!
Bevin,
Violence:
“an unjust or unwarranted exertion of force or power, as against rights or laws: to take over a government by violence.”
Yes Bevin I disagree with violence. I believe that if you are acting like a total jerk and being dangerous and not following laws then you are asking for whatever you get no matter who you are. Yes Bevin if a policeman has a reason to take you into custody then it is unlawful violence to shoot him. If you do not pay your property taxes and a policeman comes to lawfully evict you then if you fight back then you are the violent one.
Clover, you might want to re-read your stuff before you press the “enter” key:
“Yes Bevin I disagree with violence.”
And then:
“I believe that if you are acting like a total jerk and being dangerous and not following laws then you are asking for whatever you get no matter who you are. ”
Italics added.
Res ipsa Loquitur
Clover here is just fine with violence so long as there is a law first. That’s why criminals go into government, because people like Clover here can’t figure out the difference between morality and legality.
So Clover, how would you feel about a law that oh, said it was ok for the investment firm and banks that hold your accounts to take 65% of what you have to cover their losses and operations? What if a corporation has the government take your home? It’s all legal. If you fight back you’re the violent one.
Dear clover,
You wrote.
“Yes Bevin I disagree [sic] with violence.”
Okay. So here’s my next question. Baby step number 2.
Does that mean that initiating violence or threatening violence against others is wrong?
Hi Eight,
Unbelievable. No, scratch that. Entirely believable – these days. I am glad they did not shoot you (or your dog, or your wife). Of course, that was 2003. Today, they probably would have. Officer safety and all. You/your wife/your dog “threatened” their “safety” by “failure to obey” which constitutes “resisting.”
I weep for us, for America.
Eric that would never happen today. They tried to take him in. According to libertarian NAP, he should have pulled a gun on them and shot them. Eric tell me who the violent people really are in our society?
I’d say the violent people were the guys pointing loaded guns at those people and screaming at them to put their hands up.
The “really violent people,” Clover, are people like you.
Oh, and tell me again how fuel injection “helps” torque output…?
Yes Eric that is your opinion. Telling someone to put their hands up is violence but killing the police in the situation would have been just fine? That is why we do not want a libertarian society.
Yes Eric fuel injection can give you more torque for a given input of fuel because it burns more efficiently. That pushes the piston with greater force and causes more torque. I know that is beyond your comprehension.
Clover, who said anything about killing? That’s your department – not mine. As usual – as is typical – you resort to lies and non sequiturs because you have no other way of arguing.
I wrote about the loathsomeness of cops storming a civilian airliner in a grossly disproportionate response to a comment made by one passenger… pointing loaded guns at all the passengers and screaming at them to get their hands up. Your panties get moist at the sight – and sound – of government goons browbeating innocent people – citizens – this way.
It makes me ill. And I wrote that people’s reaction ought to be – fuck off, assholes. And that’s all I wrote, you lying wurm.
On FI and torque: Nonsense. A given engine will make the same torque whether it is fed gas by injection or via a carburetor, assuming neither is limited in some way. Torque output is a function of factors such as engine displacement, compression, cam timing and so on.
Why is it, Clover, that the fuel-injected engine in the Honda S2000 barely produces 100 ft.-lbs. of torque – at a very high RPM – while the carbureted 455 V-8 in my Pontiac produces 450-plus ft.-lbs. at a much lower RPM?
I see you got your engineering degree from the same place you got your road racing license: Out of a Cracker Jack box.
I’ve told them to piss off or whatever at various times over the years. I find that the older I get the less I give a shit what they think.
The most recent encounter was earlier this year in a shopping center parking lot. Walking back to my car from a store, I found lo and behold a cop parked behind me, staring at the back of my ratty old car which is plastered with bumper stickers saying things like “Don’t Talk To Cops,” “Smash the State,” and “Anti-Government Extremist On Board.” He approached me when I opened one of the doors. I asked him what the problem was. When he started to bitch about the stickers I told him that if he didn’t like the First Amendment he could go screw himself.
Apparently surprised at the candor, he skulked back to his cruiser. He then waited while I shopped in another store (I took my sweet time), then followed me when I drove out of the parking lot. I drove around a while leading him on a merry chase at the posted speed limit until I got bored of the stupid game and drove out past the city limits. Since I had not actually done anything he could pull me over for the hero turned back to town to bother someone else. Probably he had puppies to shoot or disabled citizens to tazer.
