Help EPautos – Earn Yourself a Dollah

I am putting out a call for help – actually, to announce an opportunity.Make Money Key on Computer Keyboard

Here’s the deal:

EPautos has a lot of readers – we average about 80,000 visits a month (sometimes, we get over 100,000).

This is readership enough to generate ad revenue – or ought to be.

The problem is neither I nor Dom have the time to market/sell the site to potential advertisers. I’m already wearing too damned many hats. Writer, editor, graphics designer, ombudsman. I spend most of the day researching and writing the columns you read here, then another couple of hours responding to reader’s posts and questions. The time left to me is mostly spent maintaining our small farm out here in The Woods. There is only so much one man can do.

So, I’m wondering whether there’s anyone out there who might be interested in a commission-based deal working to secure advertisers for EPautos? You’d get a cut of each sale made. It could be a nice side gig and possibly more, as the site grows.

If you’d like to discuss, just drop me a private e-mail ([email protected]) and we’ll take it from there.

I’m also looking into Podcasting. Same issue, though. I need to find the time. One way you guys could help is by helping me to be in a position to afford help. Donations so far this month are not where they need to be. With less than a week left in the month, we’re about 55 percent below par.

I know times are tough. But I’m hoping that 10 percent of you will decide it’s worth $10 or so a month to keep independent media such as EPautos going.

Our donate button is here.

If you prefer to avoid PayPal, snail mail is fine. The address is:

Thanks again to all of you who have supported EPautos already!

  1. I have been giving up $5/mo on paypal every month since you left Google. That works out to $60/yr, more than most of the remaining magazine subscriptions I have. So I thing $120/yr is a bit much, so you need to get to 20k subscribers

    • Hi David,

Yup. It’s people such as yourself who’ve been carrying the rest. It’s a real dilemma – and not just for EPautos.

We average 80,000-100,000 visits a month. If this were a print daily/weekly/monthly in the pre-Internet days, we’d have no problems getting plenty of advertising, such that we probably would not need to charge anything for subscriptions.

People – a large majority – expect “free” content to be provided… when it’s online. Because it’s “right there” – and so easy to just take.

This attitude is not surprising – except when it comes to the people who visit anti-government/anti-corporate sites like this. Those people want an alternative to the Pravda Press. But how is it supposed to survive when they expect it to be provided essentially for free?

  2. Sounds like a great idea. But. I am a horrible salesman and it appears a great deal of your readers are living off the grid sending you emails via stone tablets.
