Back in The Woods

I’m back home from Arizona and wanted to put out a quick “thank you” to everyone here for understanding about me being a little scarce the past few days. And for the kind words expressed publicly and privately about the passing of my dad. I’ve not met most of you in person but have been in regular touch (publicly and privately) with many of you to such an extent that I consider you friends – and hope one day to meet you in person. Which reminds me: If you’re ever in my neck of The Woods, drop me a line. I am usually around and welcome non-Clover visitors.

Errata: I will be on air twice this coming Monday; both Bill Meyer and Bryan Hyde want me to ramble with them again. We’ll be discussing the latest electric car Kool Aid and probably also the ascendance of il Duce. Audio clips of both appearances will be posted here later, if you miss the live performance.

GM still hates me; the fatwa stands. Future reviews of their cars will have to be furtive. But they will be reviewed, nonetheless. I have my sources. And notwithstanding what dicks they’ve been, I will not slam their cars unless their cars deserve to be slammed.

Because I’m not a dick.

Donations: We’re very low so far; please see the pie chart on the main page, top right. You know I dislike having to make these occasional announcements but it’s necessary. We could really use an assist. If you like what you see (and read) here on EPautos, please consider supporting the site financially.

Same if you’re in, or near, Sarasota, Florida. Plenty of room for staying awhile, wife’s good cooking, plus lots of car shows. And you could review my vehicles 🙂

  2. How bad was it to fly? What about you being mobile again. Attending the shows again. You can go to GM and get the cars yourself, can’t you?

Trump’s win and Brexit means an end to binarism. Global Us versus Global Them has failed. A new era awaits. Less of a need to declare Libertarian or Die.

    • Awful. Vile. Depressing.

I was the only person at both ends to “opt out” of the scanner; the rest of the cattle have been habituated to the New Normal. I understand now how it is that people can walk meekly, hat in hand, right up to the edge of a ditch…

On GM: I’ve been kicked out of their press pool. It means I can’t get a GM press car directly. Aber, I have friends in low places.

      • Eric,

I understand now how it is that people can walk meekly, hat in hand, right up to the edge of a ditch…

It seems as if it really is voluntary.

      • eric, glad you made it w/0 being accosted. Had it been me, today I could have simply not wiped my nose and let all that stuff draining hold them at bay. I’m assuming(dangerous)they want to avoid disease…..then again, they’d probably have quarantined me at the boarding end.

BTW, the Clinton press made a big deal of Trump saying last election popular vote should be the norm. I’m simply relieved Hitlery isn’t going to be installed regardless of how it happened. But I can’t complain as “they” always tell me cause I didn’t vote…..as if that one vote would change doodus.

        • Morning, Eight!

The only reason I put myself through that – TSA airport “line up at the ditch” conditioning – was to say goodbye to my dad and to be there for my mom and sister. I’m done flying otherwise.

The thing that defeats me most, though, is not the TSA regime. It is the passivity and insouciance of the American cattle. Who have accepted it all, with barely a peep of protest. Rather than inconvenience themselves even slightly to register a vote against an outrageous affront to their status as free or even semi-free people, they go along to get along. Peck at their phones. Raise their hands, I surrender. Submit, obey.

          These cattle will accept anything.

          Wait.

          • Morning eric. “Wait”. Not much choice there and very little to like. For the most part this started in earnest in/after wwll when Americans were subject to a years long barrage of propaganda that was, for the most part, outright lies. It led to a great deal of fatherless children and mothers convinced govt. was going to be their savior. It seemed to me that the larger town people lived in the more they accepted this. Herd ’em together, the tighter the better and they’ll fall in line via herd mentality.

To this day people in my part of the country still don’t believe the crap govt. throws at them although more do all the time. The further you take people away from the land and their own devices to make a living the easier it is to control them ‘en masse’. I believe women’s lib was an out and out CIA movement to break up cohesion between the sexes and one of their main goals was to force recalcitrant males to cowtow to govt. edict.

Men raised after women’s lib a a foothold(by law)are much more prone to do as “mother govt” says. And if they’re a bit slow on the uptake, big brother law dogs are there to give them an abject lesson of being locked up and judges and prosecutors are nothing more or less than self-righteous tyrants planning their own paths to power and riches at the expense of freedom and incarceration of others.

A DA in Harris county has been caught red-handed so to speak of using 3 inmates to testify in a case where she couldn’t have gotten a guilty verdict via no evidence. Now these 3 criminals has recanted what they said, there was never physical evidence to jail this man for murder but nobody’s speaking of punishing the DA. If anyone else has manufactured evidence and false testimony they’d have a hard prison sentence ahead. This is not an exception but rather the norm in a great many places(almost everywhere I can tell having had a dose first hand). Cop, prosecutors and judges lie with impunity and in fact, benefit greatly by doing so. Meanwhile those “women” who want equal rights either applaud them or sit and wring their hands(oh my, oh my).

          • I only travel for work and with co-workers. So I can’t exactly opt-out. The government knows this sort of thing and takes advantage. They know that most trips are for business and family. They set it up so the person who objects becomes the object of scorn for everyone else.

The control is scientific and it does no good to tell people how they are being manipulated. They either ignore it or become hostile to it.

Eight, they start it in the schools. They target the kids who are rejective of the systems even more so than those who wish to dominate the existing systems.

  3. These retards actually believe that they can petition a do-over for Clinton. A mind is a terrible thing to waste. A groupthinking hive mind is a terrible thing, period.

    • The problem is that, in theory, it is possible. The penalties for not voting as directed by the election results are not sufficient. Nor are the terms under which a change in vote is acceptable well defined. And there are cases where it would be not only acceptable but advisable.

Let’s say Hillary won and, before December 19, a video surfaced with her hiring a hit man to take out Trump back in August. That would likely be sufficient reason and not cause for even a $200 fine. Caving to populist pressure groups not liking the outcome of the vote, insufficient, and cause for hanging.

There are pros and cons to the electoral college. It’s primary concern was to provide a certain measure of “voice” for the smaller states. It has lost most of its usefulness in that since the states with large cities have now scarfed up much of the House of Representatives. That gives them an overwhelming edge in choosing electors. And large cities always vote with the interest of large cities in mind, and “Screw the rubes!” attitudes.

But it saved our bacon in this case, rancid as that bacon might be, if it holds through December 19.

      • The fact is, either people think the electoral college has already voted, or they think the popular vote is how the question is decided.

No one expects a back door.

I’m looking forward to the MSM using this petition as a way to get their idol put into power.

No one will know until the electors meet.

  4. Glad you made it back to the woods Eric,

They are killing the girl tonight. You can save her. Just sign vee papers old man.

    What do the papers say?

They are merely a statement saying you have not been mistreated while you have been here.

“On December 19, the Electors of the Electoral College will cast their ballots. If they all vote the way their states voted, Donald Trump will win. However, they can vote for Hillary Clinton if they choose. Even in states where that is not allowed, their vote would still be counted, they would simply pay a small fine – which we can be sure Clinton supporters will be glad to pay!
We are calling on the Electors to ignore their states’ votes and cast their ballots for Secretary Clinton. Why?
Mr. Trump is unfit to serve. His scapegoating of so many Americans, and his impulsivity, bullying, lying, admitted history of sexual assault, and utter lack of experience make him a danger to the Republic.
Secretary Clinton WON THE POPULAR VOTE and should be President.
Hillary won the popular vote. The only reason Trump “won” is because of the Electoral College.
But the Electoral College can actually give the White House to either candidate. So why not use this most undemocratic of our institutions to ensure a democratic result?
    SHE WON THE POPULAR VOTE.
There is no reason Trump should be President.
    “It’s the ‘People’s Will'”
No. She won the popular vote.
“Our system of government under our Constitution says he wins”
No. Our Constitution says the Electors choose.
“Too many states prohibit ‘Faithless Electors'”
24 states bind electors. If electors vote against their party, they usually pay a fine. And people get mad. But they can vote however they want and there is no legal means to stop them in most states.
