Here’s a quick look at the new-for-2018 BMW M550i – which is not the M5. It is a new M in the 5 Series line. With the same (basic) twin-turbo V8 as the M5 and quicker than the previous gen M5 (2016) for about $20k less.
There is one fly in the soup, though. Well, two. Both 5 Series Ms are now AWD-only and also automatic-only. No more rear-drive. No more shifting for yourself.
But they both get to 60 faster twice than most cars get there once!
