John asks: Thanks for all your automotive insights. Do you know the status of Elio production? I took a look at their website but did not see a date, just fund raising stuff. Do you think they will get underway?
My reply: I’ve asked Elio to keep me posted; so far, no definitive word about serial production. It may never happen, for several reasons – none of them Elio’s fault. The regulatory hurdles they have to pass are enormous and enormously expensive and I suspect the government is making it as hard as possible for them to ever be mass-produced because of the threat such a car would pose to the Electric Car Agenda.
The Elio makes far more sense – economically as well as functionally.
Hence, it must be stomped.
