I wasn’t aware of how lucrative catching truants was till a few years ago when the wife worked with women in a town of 10,000 where it was a few hundred dollars fine. I’d have told them to keep my kid and see what they’d have done. One woman had twins who would cut school. It would cost $700 to “bail” them out. Another great way to rob the public.
