Reader Rant: Praise for Libertarian Car Guy!

My reply: Well, thank you for the kind words, first of all. Hate is a powerful muse – and I loathe the busybodies who’ve almost destroyed this once great country and have almost succeeded in turning it into a kind of continental kindergarten for special needs children run by not-benevolent teachers.I warn people that whenever they hear saaaaaaaaafety they can expect to feel either a hand in their in their pocket or a bayonet in the small of their back. Totalitarian systems tout saaaaaaaaaaaaaafety – which is just a vapid-sounding but very potent euphemism for control.

Freedom means the right to take risks – and to be responsible for the decisions you make regarding the taking of risks. It means being free to decide not to wear a seatbelt – or to exercise or take up jogging . . . or not. Free people are not parented people. The parenting has to stop. I will use every bit of skill and whatever else is at my beck and call to fight these bastards, even if it is ultimately futile. But I don’t think it is. I think the bastards want us to think it is, though. If they can, they’ve already won.
