Scott asks: Liked your review of the 2020 Aviator. Is the 2020 Explorer an even “better” less expensive option?
My answer: It depends! The Explorer doesn’t come standard with the Aviator’s twin-turbo V6; instead, the standard engine is the Mustang’s 2.3 liter turbo four. It’s pretty powerful, too but not nearly as powerful as the twin-turbo V6 that’s standard in the Aviator. However, the twin-turbo V6 is optional in the Explorer ST. So you can get similar performance for less money – but the Lincoln’s got luxury features such as those massaging seats, which won’t be available in the Ford.
That said, the Explorer is . .. two thirds the Aviator in terms of power/luxury… for a third less the price!
