Reader Question: The Corona’ing of EVs?

Here’s the latest reader question, along with my reply!

Tim asks: Do you think with Covid-19 and the price of gas getting down to prices we’ve not seen in years, that this will be the death of EVs, or is it too early to tell? Perhaps Uncle will bail them out (again) and keep them around a bit longer?

My reply: If sanity does not re-assert itself very soon, there will be no car industry, period. It is already on the verge of going out of business – because (like most businesses) it cannot afford to not be in business for weeks and months on end. Production lines are closed down; dealerships are closing. No one is making – or selling – any cars anymore.

Far worse, though will be the incapacity of millions of people who’ve lost their jobs – permanently – to buy anything and forget a new car, whether an EV or otherwise.

Soon, most of us will be walking.

The peddlers of Corona Fever are destroying everything – supposedly in the name of “saving” us.

Thanks, but no thanks. I’d rather get sick – rather die – than kill the lives of almost everyone in this country who isn’t a government worker.

  1. I know where to get brand new, heavy duty vehicles complete with laptops, emergency lights and heavy guns in the trunk. When they began to go missing en masse, the “heroes” will be shitting the proverbial brick. Unhook all communications devices, give them a quick coat of some factory color and put the tags from the elderly neighbor who died on them.
