The 1970’s, horrible as it was with the inflation, the gas prices and the 55 mph speed limit was the last decade I remember with decent music. I liked a whole lot of it. The 1980’s brought that to a screeching halt. They took the bass out of music and everything had a synthetic, tinny sound. As the metal bands of the 80s took hold later in the decade, it only became a little more bearable. With the 1990’s grunge movement which lasted almost the entire decade, the beats and the music got better, but the message got quiet a bit worse. As the 2000 began, music has gone into a jarring cacaphony of woke bullshit, hip hop crap and nonsense took hold. I haven’t listened to anything since about 2003. It’s crap. My favorite genre is the Nova and the my favorite era for music was the 1960’s to around 1981. That’s not to say there wasn’t good stuff around in the 80’s, there was just a lot less of it than in the 1970’s.

I had a great, simple packing type job that I actually enjoyed very much. I’ve never been one for careers, my hobbies are outside of work. But the people there were fun, it was a very laid back company. They were great for the first 25 years of their existence. Then around 2017 or 2018 they decided to force constant overtime. Sometimes there was enough work to justify it, but mostly there was none. No joke, not enough work to do yet we were always there.

Then they decided to play music over the loudspeakers, to ‘help’ with the lower morale and tired employees who kept quitting. And I should emphasize LOUDspeakers. I’m 34 years old. I don’t mind music or loud music at concerts. But forcing me to work in a factory while listening to, no joke, Shawn Mendes, Taylor Swift, Backstreet Boys, Maroon 5, Britney Spears, modern country, etc is cruel and unusual punishment.

Yeah occasionally I’d hear a Tom Petty song, but shit man. We are here to work and go home, and I won’t force anyone to listen to the music I like. I was the only one who absolutely HATED the music idea too. I had to leave.
