Orwell wrote about telling the truth being a revolutionary act – in a time of universal deceit. But what led to the time of universal deceit? Such as the one we’re living in right now?
James Kunstler pinned the tail on the totalitarian donkey the other day. He wrote that “a society hostile to truth can’t possibly remain civilized, because it will also be hostile to reality.”
And that explains everything. Makes sense of the otherwise insensible.
How else to explain the hostility toward the telling of truth about – let’s start here – the electric vehicles that the government, via its regulatory regime, is effectively forcing the car industry to manufacture and thus leaving car buyers fewer and fewer new car options that are not “electrified”?
The truth is there would be few, if any, electric vehicles available for sale were it not for the regulatory regime that advantages them and disadvantages their functionally superior competition. The latter being functionally superior – as well as significantly less expensive. Thus accounting for the need to disadvantage them.
These are inarguable truths, just the same as the truth that – if people weren’t paid to buy EVs via subsidies – even fewer would probably buy them than the few who have.
But when you give voice to these truths, the response is not acknowledgement of them but hostility toward those who voice them.
They are accused of all manner of things, including Ludditism and “denying” that the “climate” is “changing” – and thus it is necessary to give up cars with engines that weigh 3,200 pounds that get 35 MPG and cost $30k for cars that cost $50k that weigh 5,000 pounds, about 1,000 pounds of the latter being accounted for by inefficient energy storage devices (the battery packs) that require orders of magnitude more natural resources to be extracted from the Earth putatively being “saved.” As well as massive amounts of electricity to keep them charged – most of which is produced via the burning of hydrocarbon fuels of one kind or another.
Instead of – yeah, you have a point – it is often something like the snarl of an angry Doberman affronted because you got too close to its owner’s yard. How dare you! You have stolen my dreams!
Et cetera.
Whether EVs are interesting in their own way – or have their own virtues, such as silent operation and immediate and forceful acceleration – are entirely beside the point as regards the truths about them being pushed rather than freely desired to a degree sufficient to warrant their being manufactured in large numbers.
But if you say it, expect to experience hostility rather than acknowledgement of the facts. The hostility used to shut-up the truth-teller.
We saw the same – and are still seeing the same – with regard to the truth about “masks.” They did not and do not “stop the spread,” especially if the person wearing the thing hasn’t got anything that is spreadable. You may remember the untruths that were spread about “asymptomatic” spreaders, which is a thing of a piece with a bite from creature that lacks the necessary equipment.
But those who acted in accordance with the truth about “masks” – and questioned the lies being told about them – were treated with a degree of general, widespread hostility never before seen in this country. For a time, it became like another country – its name need not be mentioned – in which people who refused to wear another piece of cloth signifying approbation of a great evil were likewise treated with hate for their refusal to play along with what wasn’t true.
We see the same hostility toward the truth with regard to sex – not the act so much as the facts. Boys and men are male and how they dress and act doesn’t alter the fact. That is a truth.
If they do dress and act like the females they aren’t, then they are impersonating females. In other words, they are what used to be accurately – that is, truthfully – referred to as transvestites. There is no such thing – in truth – as a “transsexual” because it is not biologically possible to “transition” from one sex to the other by changing the clothes one wears or the way one acts or even by surgically and chemically altering the way the body looks. It is still and always will be either a male or a female body. And that is the truth – whether one likes it being as immaterial as whether one likes gravity.
Step off the edge of a cliff and see for yourself.
But to say the truth in these times is to become an object of deranged hostility. Of a piece with the deranged hostility directed at people who would not buy the lies about “masks” and – later – the mRNA drugs pushed on them as the way out of “masking.”
These are, indeed, dangerous times – precisely because the truth is no longer universally respected, however much we may at some times and in some instances be unhappy about it. As for example when we step off the edge of a cliff.
In place of truth, a series of lies – often hysterically hewed-to. It is easy enough to understand why that it is.
When a ship is unmoored, it drifts with the wind, whichever way it blows. A society unmoored from the truth is not much different, except for the fact that the “wind” that steers it is not random.
And neither is the course of the ship.

I think it is still human nature to gravitate towards honesty and decency. In people, in design, in language and in nature. My own view is that voting to violate anyone’s rights is a greasy outrage; it is a tool used by cowards who lack the balls to do the wet work themselves and be honest about who they are. That said, I think a way to keep voting under some control would be to restrict it to people who pay taxes and own property – regardless of sex. That would cure most of what ails us, I’d be be willing to bet.

I have a shirt that reads “They turned us against each other, so we did not turn against them”. When I have a bit of a chip on my shoulder I wear it out because it is quite the conversation starter!
When I read (or hear) men and women believe that one gender should be annihilated, destroyed, thrown back in the kitchen, demasculated, having their rights voided, etc. I ask myself how does one think like that? What ill conceived notions and experiences have made them think this way? I look at countries such as Afghanistan, Chad, Sierra Leone, Congo, and Syria and think this is how men want to live. I have wondered about this, BlueGrey. Our Forefathers were wise men. Much more than people are today. There was a reason, I surmise, why they did not give women the right to vote. I wonder (and no offense to other women on this board), what would have happened in history, if women still were not allowed to vote? Not to get controversial, or be anti-woman or anything. I just find it interesting that in the beginning, they had no right to vote. Was it because they had the traditional, raise-the-children, stay-at-home roles back then? One can view it this way. In marriage a woman takes a vow to obey her husband. This would include how he would vote, right? It wasn’t the fear of a rich land owning woman to cast a ballot which would likely be decided by her husband. In essence, this would give him two votes, but it would rile up the peasants and they would start yelling demanding equal representation. By not giving the wealthy women a vote this kept the plebs in their place.
The Constitution is a beautifully written document, but it was instilled by the elite for the elite. These rights were not to be transferred or established to the lesser classes. The public has misinterpreted the document. It was not meant for every man, woman, or child just the ones that held power.

I can’t find it now, but the VA is apparently funding surgeries for the freaks. No care for the actual soldiers, airmen or Marines, but plenty of money for dick chopping.
I remember the 1980s. The androgynous Prince stuff, the Twisted Sister stuff, and that kid who decided to keep his stage makeup on at the musical cast party. And the Halloween costume cross dressing in college. It happened. Some kids (mostly boys) liked playing dress-up more than they probably should. And remember all the elaborate clothing worn by men in the Elizabethan era made Prince look downright grunge in comparison. But most of us outgrew it and got on with our lives.
What changed?
Well, men’s clothing, mostly. I remember when suits and ties were fairly common, worn by most men, not just politicians. Children and dockworkers wore jeans. Tradesmen wore uniforms, with knit pants and button up shirts. Dress codes were enforced, even in midrange restaurants and night clubs. A hockey jersey and trashed jeans weren’t acceptable in church. “White collar” and “blue collar” actually referred to what you wore to work, either a suit and tie or a uniform. In Black and Hispanic culture, men wore clothes as a marker of success and aspiration. And remember even into the 1990s you had to be pretty comfortable with your manhood if you put on a pink shirt (unless it was breast cancer awareness day or something).
Clothes make the man.
Look at men today. We’re fat slobs in dirty t-shirts. It started with “Casual Friday” and devolved from there. You can walk around in a suit, but you’ll definitely stand out.

We all laughed then, and only ol’ Herb could make a speech like that given his outrageous costume, but he wasn’t wrong. And my “generation” of X is mostly to blame. We accepted the androgyny and even might have participated. And our parents (moms mostly) knew it was a phase that we’d outgrow. But we forgot that and seem to be happy with letting the kids dictate reality.
So what’s a man, who might be a bit effeminate anyway, to do? The hipsters were an option, but they were a bunch of assholes. Gay? Well, if you swing that way, but not all trans men do. So you start wearing your sister’s closes, and protest violently when your father disowns* you. Not saying it’s right, but to me it seems more like the logical outcome of suppressing fashion on men. But have to draw a line at sending them off to the plastic surgeon and shooting them up with chemical castration drugs, especially when they haven’t even learned to drive or buy beer legally.

I attend a couple big National trade shows and many smaller regional trade shows. The decline in clothing and appearance is very bad. Almost all attendees now wear golf shirts, with a few in button downs. I, and my salesman, wear sport coats with good dress shoes, etc… Sometimes even ties. We attract a lot of attention, which is not my intention. My young (newer) salesguys have showed up like the rest. I hand them my card and tell them to go get a min. of sport coats and shoes and come back.
This past fall at a National show, the Pres. of one of the multi-national Manuf. we represent, noticed all of us dressed up pretty decent, and put a memo out that night to all of his 30 people at the show “you will wear a sport coat at tomorrow’s awards dinner”. Many of these people came up to me later: “thanks dude, cause of you we all have to do this now”.
My reply was ‘I’ve been doing this for 30 years, all of you have continued to dress down. I believe it shows respect to who you interact with’.
Hell, we used to wear fricken suits in the 90’s on sales calls. A sport coat is pretty easy.
So then, a couple of other Reps started doing the same thing and made sure they sought me out to show me what they did. My reply was ‘you guys look good, and now your are differentiating yourself from the competition.
Hope I’m making a difference. I think it matters.

For most of my career I’ve worn uniforms, although for a time I was decked out in “business casual.” I might as well worn a suit and tie, it was only a little more effort. The uniform was convenient since I really didn’t have to put any thought into what I was going to wear, just grab the next shirt off the top of the stack. And I wore work boots. One inch heel, with good tread and waterproof. Still wear them when shoveling snow or volunteering for repeater work with my radio club.
Now I’m back in business casual. I have to iron again, I have to keep my shoes polished (although many of my coworkers wear sneakers), but I can wear jeans. I guess there’s some comfort in not having to wear a necktie, but a properly sized shirt feels just fine to me. Only real downside of a suit and tie is the rise of the office temperatures with the cold female boss who insists on a balmy 75º year round. No wonder my productivity takes a nosedive after lunch…
But I also notice that customers interact with me very differently than my male coworkers, I think mostly because I dress a little better (because I’m still very much in training and have no clue on many topics). They tend to listen a little more to my instructions and aren’t as confrontational, and almost seem relieved when I explain that I don’t know either, but I’ll check. If I were dressed like a slob they might not be so forgiving.
When you wear a suit people react differently to you, you get more respect.
If stopped by an enforcer, they react differently, they don’t know who they are dealing with, maybe someone in a power position above them, or someone with the money to defend themselves from theft/prosecution.
In bars, night clubs, the women react to you differently too, you might get more attention, or attract a different type.
Within the slave class, there is a class system, hierarchy, in a suit you rise up in status.
I had a friend once who said he would wear a suit every day if he could.

I dress down, but my job is not customer facing. It involves acids that get everywhere and burn holes in and bleach dyes out of clothing, even with a lab coat.
So I usually wear jeans and an inexpensive collared shirt, either a polo or a button-down sports shirt. It looks good for a couple weeks usually, then slowly deteriorates until it needs to be replaced.
If someone is coming to visit, depending on who they are and what the purpose of the visit is I will dress it up as needed from there.
No need to look totally dingy but a jacket & tie just isn’t practical.

The point of schooling, which is completely different than learning, is to push a narrative and to rid any imposing views. We see that in schools now. Try bringing in a conservative or libertarian speaker to debate and all hell breaks loose. Kids are screaming, calling police, destroying property. It is freaking nuts.
Now do the exact opposite with a more conservative mindship. An example would be allowing a more liberal speaker onto a more free thinking campus. The kids mentality is not one of apprehension, but the enjoyment of clashing minds and a serious discussion.

The left is big on credentials. They “earned” their college degree after working “real hard” to get on the dean’s list and follow the plan. Most of them never bothered to see who made the plan up, or if what they are learning was actually correct. Just study the book, take notes and ace the test. Then show your credential like a hall pass to get into the system.
So they have their credentials, and when someone else with a credential tells them to do something (especially if it is superior or equal to theirs), they just assume that person is credible. They know how hard they worked to achieve their place in society, and can only imagine how much harder the superior had to work, since they have no firsthand knowledge of anything outside of their narrow focus.
When anyone questions the validity of credentialed individuals, it’s easy enough to fall back to the institution’s accreditation. “She’s a Harvard trained psychologist” is all that needs to be said. Doesn’t matter that she’s encouraging young girls to undergo double mastectomy procedures right after “the girls” begin to show (which I’d have to believe is a bit of a shock to the system). Or that puberty “blockers” actually are castration drugs and will keep boys from ever developing sex organs. The credential says she’s an expert not to be questioned.
Now apply this line of reasoning to a(n alleged) meritocracy. People get credentialed to go into government under dubious and fraudulent -but validated by the system- credentials. They operate under false pretenses, being experts at purely internal systems, not actually anything useful. Any questioning of any credential points out their uselessness. I’ll use your profession as an example. IIRC you’re an accountant. I imagine a good portion of your work involves preparing income taxes for your clients, and dealing with the myriad rules and requirements for filing and paying your client’s “fair share.” If there is no income tax (or it becomes a flat tax with a minimum income requirement), that’s an entire industry that could probably be eliminated. Apply that to pretty much anything that the “institutions” have created and it becomes clear that make work and credentialing go hand in hand. No one wants to feel like their work isn’t useful.
Why the left though? I think it might have something to do Marx’s labor principle. Any labor performed ads value no matter what it is. Digging holes in the desert and filling them back up is productive labor. Building rockets and sending men to the moon for the LULZ is productive labor. Handing out free stuff to people who won’t work? Well, that’s labor too. Recall that something like 95% of welfare money goes to the bureaucracy, not the actual recipients. The traditional Catholic vow of poverty doesn’t apply to the welfare worker, even if they think they’re not paid enough.

The truly deranged part is expecting everyone else to accept your denial of reality as reality. And the REALLY deranged part is a culture that goes along with that denial, and insists that you deny it too.

Am I the only woman out there who believes the guys dressing up and pretending to be girls is insulting? Dylan’s whole schtick is this is the way a woman acts. No, no it isn’t. These boys use lots of hand gestures, abhorrent fashion sense, they force their voice up three octaves, they prance instead of walk, and they act like they have marbles for brains. Just by looking at them you can tell they are not comfortable with what they are doing. A dress, a purse, and some makeup does not make one a girl just as a baseball cap, a flannel shirt, and some Timberlands doesn’t make me a guy. Gender is not fluid, it is biology. The way we move, look, and think is special to each of us. There is a quiet confidence of being in your own skin. People who try to be something other than what the universe created them as showcases to all of us that they are not satisfied with who they are, because it shows in their demeanor.
I have a client who is a guy who likes to pretend he’s a girl. He is a nice guy and my thinking is “to each his own.” If you like wearing dresses, wear your dresses. I don’t care. My issue is do not force me to go along with your version of “truth”. That is where I draw the line.

My work obliges me to wade through sewage sometimes. As here. The thing that strikes me most, though, is the incandescent insanity of it. Do you remember The Rocky Horror Picture Show? Dr. Frank n Furter (yeah, we get it) was comfortable being the transvestite (his words) he was. And that grounded both him and us. This Dylan Mulvaney guy is seriously tetch’d in the head. It’s sad rather than funny. Even sadder that so many people adamantly insist that he is a “she.” Never mind what’s between his legs.

I could not watch the video, Eric, so kudos to you for doing the dirty work for us. What I think is interesting, is this is a literal war on women, femininity, and the basic, not-racist, not bad differences between men and women. TPTB are trying to erase women, and the lines between the sexes, and confuse growing children to the point to where they can be easily manipulated and controlled. There are basic facts regarding males and females, and there is nothing wrong with them. In the past, such differences are what used to compliment the sexes. It does not mean telling women to be barefoot, pregnant, and chained to the kitchen. And yet, there are crickets from the feminists. They do not say a word about Dylan Mulvany. They do not utter a peep when William Thomas (aka Lia) walks around a woman’s locker room with his junk hanging out for all the women to see. I mean, what the hell? It just makes one better off alone, because dang, you just never know (as a man or as a woman) what you are going to end up with.
Damn. Maybe I am lucky to be an old fart and not know Dylan Mulvaney from Dylan Thomas. I was puzzled until I read the comments. I thought it was a lesbian flick.😏

This is a war being pushed “by” women.
There are just as many girls / women dressing as men, taking on manly body language, and having their tits cut off and penises sowed on and taking testosterone as men running around in dresses.

Same as the men competing in female sports. The girls / women have been invading male sports, since the early – mid 70’s. I’m not talking being allowed to play male sports on all female teams / leagues. I’m talking insistence on playing with and against men and boys.
In the early 80’s there were girls playing on other teams when I played league hockey and baseball in “boys leagues.” The girls are now just getting a taste of their own freaking medicine.

I do care about the culture that surrounds me. Personally, I disagree with, dislike, and disparage such behaviors for many of the reasons noted in Eric’s piece as well as the absolute mockery of woman you mentioned. Note, I do not “hate” or “fear” such folks. I draw the line at encouraging or petitioning the State to “do something” about them. These days that includes either illegalizing or promoting them. Unfortunately, the latter is the bigger problem.
The trick is to get the State NOT to “do something” about them, otherwise we get what we’ve got.
That’s what I meant. Culture can’t be State driven either way.
