“Free Speech” (but no Reach)

Some people thought George W.Bush was a witless, beady-eyed ferret. They don’t give the hideous SOB enough credit.

It was Bush – or the people using him as their front – who came up with the brilliantly evil idea of what they styled Free Speech Zones. You weren’t prevented from publicly stating how you felt about Bush, his policies, etc. You were merely placed in an area far away from where Bush – or anyone else, for that matter – could hear (or see) what you were trying to say.

Fast forward 20 years. The Free Speech Zones are now social media zones. They employ The Chimp’s stratagem via algorithm. It’s even more brilliantly evil because the suppression of speech is so hard to see. Unlike one of The Chimp’s physical Fee Speech Zones, which were designated spaces – kind of like a corral – that were clearly set apart and that anyone could see were designed to corral the people (and speech) within. And that was the problem. It was all too obvious what The Chimp was doing – and people knew it.

More to the point, they could get around it. They could refuse to be corralled in the Free Speech Zone and confront The Chimp directly, as by heckling his motorcade as it passed by. The Chimp was unable to avoid being heckled, which no doubt aggravated him. Who do those people think they are to question me?

I’m the Decider!

Perhaps you remember.

They never forgot. And – worse – they learned from their mistakes. Realized that they could control free speech by controlling the medium of free speech. The “social media” platforms that people in our time use to express their thoughts – because that’s where the audience is in our time. People – normal people – don’t riot (a form of “speech” approved by the Left that no controls the medium of speech that involves the use of words to express thoughts) and so they try to speak (so to speak) on social media such as Twitter, now styled X.

Where they believe that Saint Elon is allowing them to speak freely.

He ain’t.

Ask anyone whose speech has been put into the electronic Free Speech Zone by the algorithm. You’re not prevented from posting your thoughts. It’s just that almost no one ever sees them. You are talking to the hand, as the saying goes. Except it’s not even that, which would be preferable because a hand is at least connected to a human. An algorithm is a construct of humans – and the distinction is important. It is the difference between attempting to explain and resolve a billing dispute with a customer service rep over the phone – and being prompted by an automated customer service system. Press 1 to hear . . .

You know the drill.

The odd thing is that even though most people who favor free speech are aware that Twitter – which used to feature a blue bird as its symbol, which is an interesting thing for those interested in what the CIA likes to call its programs – routinely uses its algorithm to shunt their speech into the zone where no one can see (or hear) it, they nonetheless continue to attempt to speak freely in the very zone where they know they’re not going to be heard or seen.

It’s very much like what’s known as battered wife syndrome. The wife that gets battered doesn’t leave. She comes back for more. She sometimes even defends the guy who batters her.

Elon is for free speech! He’s on our side!

Even though it’s obvious he isn’t. If he were, then people would not have their speech shunted to a zone where no one can hear (or read) it. There would be no algorithm deeeeeeciding – say it with a lisping-whispering Texas twang like The Chimp – whose speech is worth hearing (and seeing) and whose isn’t. The only decider of such things would be the individual people who decide for themselves whether what someone else is saying is worth listening to (or reading). If they think it is, then they could pass it along to others they think might be interested in hearing (or reading) about it. If they really liked it, they could follow the individual who wrote/said it – and they’d always be notified when that person wrote/said something new.

But that’s not how it works on Twitter – the blue bird of Elon Musk. People who get followed regularly discover their followers aren’t notified when they post a new thought – because the algorithm has intervened. It’s almost impossible to get much of a following on account of the fact that one’s following is regularly winnowed by the algorithm.

And that makes it very difficult to get the word out.

The Chimp is probably smiling that simian sneer-smile of his right about now.

  1. Yet another stellar piece, Eric. Not only about surveillance and control but it’s about infantilizing us, too. I post on FaceBorg about the DNC in Chicago and share the 1968 Rolling Stones 45 picture sleeve of “Street Fighting Man” which shows cops beating the peeps. FB slaps a “Sensitive” warning on historical reality.

  2. Over at X, Lara Logan revealed a list of names on a piece of paper of those who visited Epstein’s pleasure palace.

Lots of names people will recognize.

Lara is a kook, of course, so says the media kooks. Disgraced, out to pasture in the Pale.

Leave it to a South African female journalist to expose the dirty dogs in this world.

    Comes at a cost.

truthblitzkrieg does some work, worth reading about the parallels with the presidents assassinated and 911.

Plenty of words, it’ll take some time to get through it all.

Hazy skies from forest fires and the temp is in the 90’s F.

  3. The Treasonous SCOTUS is responsible for the government’s continuing to use big tech to gaslight the American people and censor rational voices of truth.
“Barrett has decided she’s a politician, not a Justice.”
    https://headlineusa.com/linkedin-google-openly-censor-conservatives/
    Excerpt:
“Tech companies are once again colluding with Democrats to push disinformation and censor legitimate conservative opinions, this time with the imprimatur of legitimacy conferred by the U.S. Supreme Court that allows them to do so more shamelessly and aggressively than ever.

Today’s censorship is being made possible by the letters A, C and B—as in Justice Amy Coney Barrett.

While the court’s two other centrists, Justice Brett Kavanaugh and Chief Justice John Roberts, are equally culpable (along with its leftist bloc) in allowing the atrocity that is Murthy v. Missouri, it was Barrett’s name on the majority opinion.

And, indeed, her support for the wrong side in several of the court’s other recent landmark cases has raised serious red flags.

Pundit Mark Levin speculated recently that Barrrett has already gone the way of Harry Blackmun and David Souter—two Republican-appointed justices who had, by the end of their terms, become some of its most unabashedly left-leaning, likely due to what is sometimes dubbed the “Greenhouse effect” in honor of a former New York Times reporter fond of haranguing the court’s conservatives.

“I’m telling you that Barrett has decided she’s a politician, not a Justice,” Levin noted on a recent podcast, according to Newsweek. By the end of her term, the 52-year-old justice “will have flipped all the way to the left,” he added.”

    • Murthy v. Missouri showed that all four branches of Big Gov (intel is the fourth) are united in their commitment to a locked-down, universally-surveilled electronic commons.

Under the reductio ad absurdum version of the First Amendment promulgated by the hacks in black, you are free to stand on a street corner with a hand-lettered sign and shout at passing cars. Venture onto the interwebs, though, and it’s a whole different ball game.

You can champion your team in the fake, gay D vs R football game all day long. But start discussing who really runs America, and the nature of the their agenda, and you’ll quickly find that nobody can hear you scream.

Julian Assange is their example of what happens to those who embarrass — or worse, incriminate — the weaponized, extra-constitutional, illegitimate US fedgov.

      • Hi Jim,
There was also a guy from LBRY or Odysee im not really sure. (Decentralized blockchain YouTube alternative) That described dealing with government like dealing with mafia. Everything is stated in ambiguous terms and threats are made as in look at what you have here you wouldn’t want an inspection taking it right? Like nice car it would be bad if it burned down and sometimes direct blackmails are done off record.

  4. What is being revealed is the importance to the state controlling thoughts. Governments are mind control apparatus. In order to go to war, the slaves must be brainwashed by the media. Elon Musk is being marshalled to tow the government censorship or die or be put out of business. He is now suing the Jews over advertizing losses.

You could argue the control of the media is the most important tool of the state to make war. You must be convinced that going overseas and killing innocents is a just cause. The government gas lights you with false narratives to accomplish their goals of territorial expansion, resource seizure, by framing war in moral terms. They never tell you the real reason for the war.

The common soldier is tank fodder, and the government could care less if you die. But they fake it with honorary medals and bronze stars. Here is a pot medal icon for losing both legs private dumbf-ck. The last thing they want you to realize is that you lost your limb or life over lies.

Over at The Truth Seeker today, a Kit Knightly article on the false, false flag: https://www.thetruthseeker.co.uk/?p=291161

The Rise of the FALSE False Flag

“But recent years have seen the rise of a new idea – the false false flag. That is to say – entirely fake “events” with only the barest relationship to objective reality. Blanks and crisis actors, fake victims and fake shooters.”

  5. @Eric – Elon is doing work which is important to the future of humanity at SpaceX.

Do not question his failing lesser business ventures. We are almost out of time and resources on Earth.

You are not Elon. He is wise.

    • I think Elon realizes he has served his purpose for the Fedgov in making EV’s seem like a viable option via Tesla, despite their many flaws, especially the tendency to spontaneously combust. Now his leash has been shortened and he doesn’t want to piss off those who enabled his grift lest they decide he has outlived his usefulness.

    • Wise Elon wants us living and working on Mars. I will tell you something, anyone going to Mars is going one way to certain death. Your body is adapted to earth and that is it. You can ONLY live in the thin biosphere a couple of miles thick on this planet.

Going to Mars is like going to the Ukraine front line.

      LOFROFL

We never landed any men on the moon. The Apollo missions were faked and here is the proof:

      https://odysee.com/@ARGONAUT:d/VID_20230104_080105_931:f

The video was outed by wikileaks, which is why they hate that guy. He ended the moon spell.

  6. There is no point to “free speech” if no one can hear you. I agree, it’s much like the so called “free speech zones”, where no one could hear you that cared what you had to say.

  7. Looking back, I believe GW was a burnt out pothead that just like what we got today was only a puppet that distracts attention from the real deciding action “behind the curtains”. Cheney was the brains and evil that caused a lot of our freedom to be greatly diminished. That man and his family has shown what they think of regular people many times!

  8. So basically he rolled out a Bozo filter? Ok fine. I still won’t use X, not worth the time.

However if you want to do it right, get yourself a Mastodon instance spun up.
    https://docs.joinmastodon.org/user/run-your-own/

I haven’t done it mostly because I’m on a server whose admin doesn’t play god, but I know plenty of people I follow are on their own. I imagine at some point I’ll get around to it (mainly due to some of the more vocal idiots on the local server), since I already have a few domain names sitting idle.

But in defense of Elon’s decision, after looking at the Mastodon global feed (everything, not just who I follow or my local server), I understand why the need for filtering. From kiddie pr0n to extreme violence and just plain bad stuff, there’s no need for that to pollute your timeline.

And yes, I understand that 90% of the people posting that stuff are 14 year old boys looking for LULZ, and the other 9.99% are cops looking to entrap the 0.01% of the people who are seriously interested in that stuff.

Is it hard to maintain? Yes. Do you have to pay for it? Probably, unless you can spin up a server off your home connection and not draw the ire of your ISP. “You had to do what with the seat?” But I see no ads, no “recommendations” and no spammers. Only the people I follow and interact with. Much like you guys here.

  9. In my opinion, when Bin Laden attacked our country, he knew the small damage caused was merely symbolic, but we would destroy ourselves in a never-ending quest for safety.

  10. Bad as the pants-shitter in chief is, nothing evokes more burning hatred than that simian retard Bush. He destroyed the last threads of what used to be the ideals of this country, and turned it into a dystopian police state shithole. It was hatred of his awful dictatorship that made Obama inevitable, who accelerated the destruction and made Trump inevitable, whose stupidity and narcissism made the demented pervert inevitable. And here we are. Rot in hell, Chimp.

    • I second that BAC, every time I see a picture of the Chimp I want to throw something at it. Was disappointed that the guy who threw his shoes at him missed.

    • Bush/Cheney set up a brand new turn key totalitarian state. His supporters applauded because the “good guys” can responsibly handle such power and never abuse it. Then they handed the keys to their shiny new totalitarian state over to Barack Hussein Obastard. And they were shocked. A pox on all their houses.

    • Sub stack is also pretty good, but be smart and use a couple of different handles so you have plausible deniability when the gestapo starts rolling up dissidents. There is no privacy or security in a digital world but don’t make it easy for them.
