EVs and the Coming Election

There is a choice coming up in about two months from now. It will decide whether the pushing of electric vehicles will wax – or wane.

Put more finely, if the Orange Man is chosen, there is a chance the EV pushing will wane. If the communists are chosen, the pushing will without doubt wax harder. The communists – let’s use honest language from now on – need to push electric vehicles because the communists must make vehicles unaffordable as well as entirely remote-controllable in order to (wait for it) exert the control that communists have to have in order for communism to “work.”

Communism stopped “working” in the old Soviet Union because the old communists who were in control lost their will to control. The young communists in this country are determined to get control – and keep it.

That is what’s at stake in about two months from now.

Orange Man is many things but one thing he is not is a communist. And because he is not a communist, he does not hate cars. More finely, he – unlike communists – does not hate the idea of you and me owning a car.

This is a point of clarity as regards the differences between the Orange Man and the alternative. Whatever might happen as a result of Orange Man assuming the role of America’s elected monarch – which is what a “president” has become in all but name – it is unlikely Americans will be pushed out of their cars by people determined to push devices as the vehicle – so to speak – to get them out of their cars.

Orange Man opposes this – even if he doesn’t quite understand it. He has said that if elected he will end the “bans” of vehicles that aren’t devices being pushed by the communists – but that is not how devices are being pushed. Devices are being pushed by regulations that have made it very difficult for vehicle manufacturers to continue manufacturing vehicles. The subtlety is important – and someone ought to try to explain it to the Orange Man so that, perhaps, the Orange Man could explain it to the people when he talks publicly about the pushing of devices.

The regulatory apparat – chiefly the EPA – decrees that the vehicles offered for sale by the manufacturers (i.e., the car companies) must average 50 MPG and must “emit” less carbon dioxide. Both of these decrees are already impossible to comply with without resorting to the Frankenstein Expedient of making them partial devices. That is to say, by making them into hybrids – kind of like the Biblical chimeras, which is interesting given the times we live in.

But hybrids aren’t the solution. They are a problem – for the communists – because they have temporarily thwarted the communists’ end-goal of pushing everything that isn’t entirely electric and by dint of that, entirely under their control, off the market. It is why the communists – who like to market themselves as “democrats” – who used to pretend to revere “environmentally friendly” and “socially responsible” hybrids like the Toyota Prius are now all-of-a-sudden “concerned” about them. It is of a piece with the communists’ feigned love of free speech, which they loved so long as the communists did not control speech. And the feigned love of bodily autonomy – “my body, my choice,” you’ll recall. Except when it came to choosing whether to wear a “mask.” Or be pushed to take drugs the communists demand everyone take.

Communists are like that. More finely, ideological fungibility is the defining attribute of the rank-and-file communist. In a very true sense, the rank-and-file communist has no ideology beyond militant adherence to shifting orthodoxies as enunciated by communist leaders. Thus, hybrids like the Prius were the focus of lavish praise when Hummers were still on the road and average people could still afford to drive a V8 powered full-size family sedan such as the late Ford Crown Victoria and the more recently deceased Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300. Now even mid-sized family cars with V6 engines such as the Toyota Avalon and Camry and Honda Accord and Mazda6 are no longer available with V6s – or even available, at all.

And now hybrids are no longer the apple of communist rank-and-file eyes. Because the leadership has “concerns” about them. Of course. The same kind of “concern” they had about people who balked at being ordered to wear a “mask.” The sight of too many unmasked people walking around in public without one worked – to dispel the illusion. And so – just like that – you were told you had no choice as regards your body. Same thing with the drugs the communists pushed. They didn’t want people to notice the contrast between those who refused to be drugged and those who were.

Orange Man may not understand, in an intellectual way, the subtle intricacies of the war on cars – which is more accurately a war on the freedom of uncontrolled, decentralized mobility – but he does appear to have a gut-instinct understanding. And he does seem to oppose what the communists are pushing.

If you care about cars and the freedom to drive where you’d like to go – anytime you like – then the choice this fall seems pretty clear.

At least it does to me.

  1. Ford has filed a patent to spy on drivers. If you buy a brand new Ford automobile, it will likely have technology that the manufacturer, the government, technocrats, and even the insurance mafia can use to spy on you when you’re driving to collect data on you that can be used against you, based on driving habits such as whether you’re “Speeding” or “Braking too hard”, etc.

  2. The coming election, Trump is making a superman effort to win – but tweets out he hates Taylor Swift (this was after he-she swift endorsed camel toe). Swift is a superstar industry put up job.

C’mon man, it beggars belief Trump would alienate the #1 pop star. This is 2 in a row, he threw the debate to Harris when he bit on the immigrants eating cats in Ohio.

BTW – I live in a town full of homos and trannies, so it is not hard for me to believe that some industry put up job pop star is a tranny. THEY ALL ARE. Nearly every actress we grew up watching is a biological male.

Even Trump’s wife is suspect. Bill Gates wife Melinda is one, I call her Manlinda, and Madonna Mandonna. Lady Gaga is no lady, but is a lady boy, just search rumble for Lady Gaga penis to see it for yourself.

    • Hi Jack,

I agree it’s ridiculous to base one’s politics (or vote) on the views of Taylor Swift. Might as well choose your candidate by showing a chicken a picture of Candidate A and Candidate B and go with whichever picture the chicken pecks at first. But I don’t think it’s helpful to assert she’s a man absent evidence she is – and much evidence that she isn’t. To believe she is a man, you’d have to believe her entire history/family and an abundance of public records (including many photos of her from toddler to now) are all frauds and fakes. Also that the football player she’s dating is gay.

Yes, of course, there are trannies in Hollywood and the place is lousy with weirdoes. But I agree with RG that it does not serve any good purpose to assert that all or most or even many of the female celebs are in fact trannies.

      Just my 50.

    • Hi Anon,

In re Clarkson: Electric cars are homogenous appliances – which is worse. I feel his pain. His sadness. What is there to say – or write? This one is blue. That one is silver. This one has a 12.3 inch touchscreen. That one has a 13 inch touchscreen. Writing an EV review is like writing a review of a cinder block.

  3. “Orange Man” ain’t a Commie Rat in the same way that those holding his leash don’t eat pork…they might be many (bad) things, but one of them ain’t being cannibals!

  4. Exposing how the EV movement is DESTROYING the car market. A podcast.

EV pushers/liars…used lies and misinformation to try to jam EV’s down buyer’s throats….it is backfiring…nobody wants to buy EV’s…they are finding out they were lied to….

the few sales were mostly company leases…they could write off 100% of the EV purchase price…and there was enormous tax payer funded subsidies…

    • The tech is unimportant. Those “Green” idiots may as well have pushed vehicles propelled by a wind-up rubber band, or “human powered” via foot pushing, ala Fred Flintstone. The point is GOVERNMENT intervention in the name of ‘S-a-a-a-a-a-f-t-e-e-e-e-e-e”, or “Smog”, etc, which has been going on for almost SIXTY years. That shit got started thanks to folks heeding a homosexual lawyer who rightfully couldn’t find employment in any respectable law firm writing a book filled with half-truths, “Unsafe at any Speed”. But scaring the shit out of the gullible had been a time-honored practice dating sixty years before THAT, thanks to the “Progressive” Upton Sinclair.

      Beware those with an Agenda.

  5. Good luck to you Americans pushing back – in the UK unfortunately the new (even more communist than the last) government plans to bring forward the petrol/diesel ban from the current 2035 to 2030 (as they cannot quite wait to enslave everyone). Just to make sure it happens, if car companies dont sell about 22% electric cars by the end of 2024, they will face a fine of up to 22k GBP for each car they fall short!!

  6. Communists they do know one thing very well – how to manipulate language to their benefit. It’s amazing how if someone says they have concerns about any subject they don’t like, the term automatically conveys the impression that the user is so thoughtful and reasoned. Just by using one word.

  7. Eric – Thanks for the honest language – communists

More honesty: Since U.S. presidents, for some time, have
ignored the Constitution, they’ve become dictators.

    Hail, Il Duce!

    • Hardly proof…but why wouldn’t it surprise me if it were true? Who KNOWS what “kink” put that “twinkle” in Willie Brown’s eyes some 35 years ago?

    • Seriously, all of the 5’3″ “men” running around with penises. She is not a man. Just because one is a childless cat lady does not make one a dude.

Yes, look at the little “boy” in her dress, white tights and black patent Mary Janes.

      https://ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/480/cpsprodpb/49dc/live/c4459ef0-3aea-11ef-bbe0-29f79e992ddd.jpg.webp

Seriously, Jack. You are better than this and posting this stuff makes the rest of look crazy to outside people who actually come to read something in depth and this is the first thing they see.

    • Who cares?

      Kamala’s genitalia is not important.

How she (or her handlers) will run the country is what’s at stake.

Most politicians’ personal lives would make a whore blush. That’s just the way it is, and everyone knows it. As long as they leave me alone & children aren’t involved in the sordid part, I could not possibly care less. They can throw a goat orgy if they want (I believe the technical term for that is “Congress”), just as long as they leave rvrfyone else alone.

    • One could make that effect easily in 5 seconds with Photoshop. Dumb.

The rest of the content of that picture is more important. She was obviously a very ambitious young woman there. She knew what she had to do to get where she wanted to go. Amazing how the ones furthest from God seem to do very well in certain circles of this life. I hope she is enjoying it while she can! It’ll be shorth lived in the grand scheme.

  8. “Upcoming election,” LOL.

Second assassination attempt on Trump in two months. What are the odds?

The communist government and the communist Democratic Party are trying to kill him, dude. Maybe his Boeing will have an “accident,” LOL.

    • Neither were a bona fide attempt. Actually having a shot find its mark would mark Trump a MARTYR, the LAST thing the corrupt-o-crats want. They’ve been WARNING SHOTS.

      • “Neither were a bona fide attempt.”

Huh? The first one skimmed the man’s brain bucket. He turned his head at the right moment, or he’d be dead.

  9. “Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun” Mao Zedong.

Communist killed over 100 million people in the 20th century. When they gain control in the United States, they’ll use the same playbook the Bolsheviks used in Russia, Mao used in China, Ho Chi Min used in Vietnam, Pol Pot used in Cambodia, Castro used in Cuba and communists are using in the escalating struggles in Venezuela and Brazil.

Listen to the terrifying account (it is difficult to listen to, extremely grim) of the Communist atrocities in Eastern Europe after World War 1 and World War 2 by Darryl Copper on his Martyr Made podcast – The Anti-Humans. Civilization quickly falls away when communists gain control. You will own nothing and most likely be dead.

    https://www.martyrmade.com/podcast-parts/19-the-anti-humans

    • Indeed, Griff –

I had this conversation with an old friend yesterday. He thinks w can vote our way out of this. I think we might be bale to vote some Bu if the of our people in. Or at least, people who aren’t communists. But if they play parliamentary footsie with these anti-human communists, we lose. There is only way to deal with communists.

      • We can vote a shift or a DELAY, but the “CURE” requires far more STERN action…one that too many of us are too old, too fat, and too complacent to put into effect. And the trouble with the violent solution is that it makes possible a “Robespierre”. Many would say a “Hitler”, but we’ll never be THAT lucky!

      • Hello, Eric, I have a friend who believes that if Trump can just get re-elected, all the country’s problems with be solved. That somehow, Trump will “clean house”, and everything will be fine. He thinks I am being a pessimist, and almost dooms day type when I told him I did not think that would be the case. As much as I would like to believe what my friend is also believing, my “prepare-for-the-worst” mind set will not let me. Meanwhile, Russia just buzzed by our air space again up here, so perhaps that gives me a different perspective.

    • Has anyone wondered that most people already own nothing? We all get riled up about the WEF’s motto, but isn’t it already true? Take a look at the generations. The Baby Boomers own the majority of assets in this country. Their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren are already being priced out of the market, unless there is a direct inheritance of generational wealth.

The WEF, World Bank, Fed, and IMF don’t have to lift a finger. The plan is already in motion. Why do we refuse to wake up. Everyday a Baby Boomer or Gen X retires there is no one to take over their position. Both generations are now retiring by the tens of thousands daily. We are seeing businesses close, but new businesses are not popping up to replace them. Gen Z and Alpha want to be “content creators.” Skills such as cooking, the trades, farming, etc. are not being passed onto to younger generations and they will find themselves at the mercy of the State. They aren’t coming for us…they are waiting for us. Time is the only genius of their plan. Create diversions between men vs women, black vs white, religion vs. nationality where no one has the ability to work together and establish something bigger and better. We are doing this to ourselves and they are laughing at us behind our backs.

      • You really take me back, RG: To the days of making my own bar soap, canning food, using the cast iron (which I still do today)…all those “old school” skills that are slowly dying off as the older generations pass on. When Eric mentions “three-on-a-tree” I have to chuckle, and then realize I am not young anymore. It is tragic to see what we are losing. Not just the not owning anything, but the skills (lack thereof) that will never be regained once lost. I felt a bit old when one of Pink Floyd’s songs had a line that said “gather ’round and haggle”, and wondered if any of the newer generation would know what “haggling” means?

  10. Ever notice how every election is always 49-51%.. just SO close.. cliffhanger every time!
Super engaging isn’t it?.. oh the drama.. the EXCITEMENT!

When down here on the ground it seems to be an apparent landslide victory for whichever candidate is talking the most like an old fashioned American conservative.

but nope.. its always 51-49 folks.. tight race! The TV said so!

Then they openly steal the 2020 presidential election. Right blatantly out in the open!

But here we are again in 2024, hanging on the edge of our seats as if any of this is real.

There is a saying. “The people get the government they deserve”

    • Yes indeed. Get ready for another round of massive voter fraud with token investigation afterward. Communist Harras our next prezident.

  11. Immediately after the Trump-Harris debate pop star goddess Taylor Swift (tranny psyop) endorsed Komrade Kamala. Kamala herself is suspect of being a male, take a good look at her face with no hair.

Taylor Swift is a complete phony, she doesn’t write her music, and she is a he:

    https://i.imgur.com/DKyPruV.png

There is a lot at stake in this election. Well, that is what you are supposed to infer. I think this election a gigantic psyop and I don’t believe your vote matters because the system is rigged. Whoever is going to win has already been decided by the owners.

I think Trump will win. Why? The telltale sign is that Mark Zukerborg, all of a sudden flips and tattletales on the Bidenistas meddling in the last election. Why would ultra lib Faceberg flip like that? Because higher up on the food chain, his Jewish friends have tipped him off that Trump is the next selected candidate – so being the worm that he is – he wants to get on the winning team and not get prosecuted.

Meddling in elections is a serious crime, as is vote tampering.

Trump lost the debate because he walked into the ‘Haitians are eating the pet cats in Ohio’ trap. Like he wasn’t briefed ahead of time not to? C’mon, that beggars belief. He threw the debate to her. Why? Because that is part of the script in this contrived election horse race – you are to believe it is neck to neck all the way to the finish line.

Beleeeeeve voters beleeeeve your vote matters. Nope. You are owned and politics is just theater to keep you engaged.

    • Remember Michael Hastings who was working on the story of a lifetime (about Hillary) and then his hackable Mercedes goes full speed into a tree and bursts into flames burning him beyond recognition?

“An Employee of ABC News who Blew the Whistle on the Trump-Harris Debate being **RIGGED** has been KILLED in a car accident near Bethesda, MD. ”

      ————–

Of course the debate was rigged. Everything is rigged. Kamala was wearing those special ear rings getting real time instructions. Debate questions rigged? Absolutely? Only Trump fact checked? Yep.

    • Haitians eating cats, or otherwise sacrificing purloined pets, is TRUE. The trouble is, without ARRESTS and valid CHARGES, what’s PROVEN? Not a damned thing! It’s never what you “know”, or at least BELIEVE you know, it’s what you can prove. Any guy that’s ever been through the legal castration process known as divorce court knows full well of whence I speak.

    • [I can’t believe people would even be considering communism…]

Most that vote are NPCs (non-playable-characters) that don’t have a clue,,, wouldn’t know a communist if one bit them in the ass.

And most running are not commies. They’re simply control freak assholes looking to get on the ground floor of the money machine. Notice all the millionaires in clowngress? Like the Clintons, most are broke upon entering the sacred establishment. Same with Obama and his ‘partner’, Pelosi and many others. Our criminal government is operated by……. ‘criminals’ you select. They will say anything,,, do anything to get on that money train to hell.

    • I can, Jimmer, because students are not taught history. Also, those of us who have suffered under such a horrible governance are systematically shut down when trying to warn ignorant people against it. Americans equate Communism with “free sh**”, and who does not want something-for-nothing? They are more than happy to give up your freedom and theirs (and your money, too) for the sheer laziness of having to nothing but get spoon fed by the very government that wants them dead. Communist supporters (like AOC and her ilk) think that because SHE/THEY are trying, it, will somehow work “this time around”. When really, it will end the same, because the machinations of Communism have never changed. When it does not work-again-and people are starving (no food), those like AOC and others-in the end-will simply blame those of us who tried to warn them-because Heaven forbid they were ever wrong about anything. Or, as Trump once said, Communism works very well. Just not for the rest of us…

  12. If you can get 50,000,000 Americans to donate to Trump’s campaign, there will be 500,000,000 dollars to spend on campaign advertising, all the way to the election!

All Harris needs is 25,000,000 communists to donate 20 dollars to her campaign to achieve the 500,000,000 dollar goal.

Harris did bring in 361 million in a fundraising campaign. Take the money and run, be in Tahiti is less than a day. Singapore Slings and good food for years on end.

Who in God’s name wants to live in the White House? You’re always a sitting duck.

Why bother to even have an election when all it does is make it a money grabbing greasy bad business.

Trump needs to grab a rifle and head to the eastern front in Ukraine. The Ukrainian army conscripts at all ages, Trump can be one soldier of fortune.

Harris can join the IDF and do a tour of the Gaza strip for a few weeks.

A little PTSD will be a big help.

Both are delusional sociopaths with no clue.

    Change my mind.

  13. Only two questions remain at this point. One who will be (s)elected and two; who will be in their Cabinet. Orange Man’s first Cabinet did not strike me as being filled with Liberty minded individuals though.

Once these two questions are answered we will know how badly screwed we will be.

    • Trump got burned the first time out because he foolishly believed that the Republican establishment would get behind him to implement his policies. Now that he knows who is to be trusted and who is not, he is a much bigger threat to the DC oligarchs. That is why his Secret Service “protection” conveniently dropped the ball while he was allowed to almost be assassinated in Pennsylvania. And I’m sure more attempts are planned between now and Election Day or Inauguration Day. If he gets in, he will not make the same mistakes twice and that is why they will do anything to remove him!

  14. (Best thing I wrote this week just got lost because the server kicked my login while I was composing. Shame that)

Kackling Kamala is a lawyer. She speaks like a lawyer presenting her opening statement to the jury. Lawyers (prosecutors) aren’t paid for their knowledge of the law, they’re paid to win cases, ie: put people in jail. They withhold evidence, overplay the importance of expert testimony and technology, and generally will do everything possible to win even if they know the accused is probably not guilty. And they rely on a staff of paralegals to do all the work for them. Courts are performance art, not a place to discover truth.

Orange, OTOH, is a salesman. His rhetoric is straight out of Norman Vincent Peale and Zig Ziegler. Play up the features and benefits, downplay or ignore objections. Get the handshake and let “our people” work out the details. Problem is in government the bureaucracy is the “little people.” And they’re going to need a lot more detail, especially if they’re politically motivated (and they are) to torpedo your agenda.

Neither of them are the “wise elder statesman” we want in a President, as much as we want someone running the Executive bureaucracy at all.

I’ve served on two juries, testified twice and started my career in television ad sales on the production and operations side. I’ve seen real lawyers perform in multi-day trials. I’ve worked with some great salespeople and many (mostly) lousy salespeople. I’m not saying the fields attract scum, but there seem to be a lot of scummy people in the businesses. Not sure if it is better to have lawyers and salespeople in the Offal Office or ideological politicians. But for sure we’re not putting the best citizens our country has to offer on the ballot.

    • Lawyers in “practice” are hired to run up BILLABEL hours. Who gives a shit how their CASES turn out? For those that work for GovCo, it’s either convictions or fines that measure their “effectiveness”.

The Clintoons are a lawyer “power couple”…so are the homosexuals “Barry and Michael” Obama, and now we have the “Cackling Ho” and her JEWISH figurehead husband, both also attorneys. Haven’t we LEARNED?

  15. The other thing that I never see addressed in this idea that el’ presidente can simply whipsaw “law” back and forth.

Assume for a minute that Orange Fail can indeed decreee EV’s cannot be mandated.

Well then, that means the next Jefe can simply decree that EVs must be mandated.

The idea that one person can or should have the power to whipsaw the economy and an industry as large as automotive is a recipe for disaster.

Apparently Mencken was right; “Every election is a sort of advance auction sale of stolen goods.”

    • Yeah, I don’t get the whole “executive orders” thing, where does it say that in the Constitution? What gave the Biden thing the authority to stop the Keystone XL pipeline, or to drain the strategic petroleum reserve? The presidency has morphed into a dictatorship over the years, and most people seem ok with that.

      • The argument is that at today’s fast-paced world, there’s no time for healthy debate. Them Ruskis were ready to kill us all just because we had a different opinion, and there’s no time for a declaration of war. That smoking gun will be a mushroom cloud and the Congress will just hold up the action.

        Ready, shoot, aim!

Well, if El Presidente can blow up the world (or brown people who live in deserts) without waiting for congressional approval, why not let him end-run around the lawmakers and just take whatever action is right? After all, he has the approval to kill everyone on the planet, what’s a little meddling in the free market going to harm?

        • Compelling answer Ready.

I’m sold. Then there is no need for the 535 clowns in congress. Gone!!

No need for all the alphabet agencies. millions of goons and AGWs.

          Love it!!

          /sarcasm

        • I agree with Burn. Get rid of Congress, then, if the president is going to be a dictator, and has no accountability to anyone. Jail every last worthless one of them (D’s and R’s) for life, take everything they ever worked for, including those hidden, overseas bank accounts they think we are too stupid to realize they have, and let them rot in Gitmo. Haul every last former Congress member who is still alive to jail, as well. We do not need them if we have a dictator.

    • They’re not going to ‘mandate’ EVs. They’re simply regulating ICEs out.

Same as the clot shot. Never mandated it. Simply gave you a choice, Do you want to keep your yob?

      • Most places tried to make it sound that way but not quite.

At least where I worked at the time they clearly wanted you to do it, but they didn’t actually *require* you to get it, because they didn’t want the associated liability.

Check the wording carefully, and whatever you do, don’t let yourself get pushed around!

  16. I sincerely wish that an election could solve this discombobulated clusterfuck. I sincerely believe it will do no such thing. The bureaucratic hive mind has grown much to large and powerful to be taken down by such a simple thing. JFK thought about it, and was killed for his thoughts.
Those of us that are mostly sane simply cannot grasp the depths of depravity that the Psychopaths In Charged are capable of. They have no moral foundation or ethical standards.

    • Indeed.

This battle is spiritual. Good vs evil.

Unfortunately acceptance, or at worst, the open embrace of evil has become the new normal.

    • Sadly, John, the depths of hell (and depravity) that our bureaucrats are willing to sink to, to retain and maintain power-and glean more of it-is more than what a half-decent, hard-working American can grasp. Most just want to live their life and be left alone. Many just cannot (or simply refuse) to believe there is such evil in the world, especially in the “good ole USA”. The it-cannot-happen-here mind set is so strong with some, that they will go to a FEMA camp guillotine, swearing to the end it “…could not happen here/happen to them”. Morals and ethics are only used by them as weapons against those of us who still possess such virtues.

  17. Lately, I hear a lot of Republicans and Libertarians supporting Musk and the EV agenda. These people fall into one of the following categories in my experience:

    1. Late to the party TSLA shareholders who want to believe even if they don’t drive an EV themselves and would never even consider the purchase of a vehicle. They missed out on Amazon and Google and don’t want to be left behind on what they see as the next “tenbagger”.

    2. Free speech advocates buying into the concept that Musk is now a Libertarian who must be supported financially in the short run regardless of long term cost so X/Twitter doesn’t return to just being a Democrat playground.

    3. Sci-fi geeks who have faith that they willl see the Starship fly to Mars in the next few years and think that sacrificing cars so SpaceX can succeed is important for the “future of humanity”.

All three are dangerous IMHO, but these people vote.

    • Orange Man’s suggestion to hire Elon Musk is a bad sign. If Trump wins the election and Musk is hired, it will put the shameless grifter in a position where he could potentially try to influence government policies in favour of Tesla (that embarrassing tech laggard company he’s currently the CEO of) and maybe even EVs in general. I’m afraid that a handful of fake compliments to the Orange Man is all that would be needed for Musk to have his way.

      • Just ask the Del Valle, Texas school district how selling out their future to Musk is working for them.

The Gigafactory is *not* technically within the city limits of Austin. God forbid. Elon might have to pay some taxes.

Similarly, the vaunted new Apple campus is just outside the city limits while Austin taxpayers have responsibilities for the roads providing access to the property.

  18. “There is a choice coming up in about two months from now. It will decide whether the pushing of electric vehicles will wax – or wane.”

At best he slows or temporarily pauses the pace at which .Gov subsidizes the move toward EVs.

The thing that determines whether EVs wax or wane is reality.

    Reality:
The masses cannot afford expensive EVs.

The infrastructure isn’t there to support EVs. There aren’t enough charging stations.
There isn’t enough grid capacity to support widespread EV adoption.
Urban / apartment dwellers don’t have access to overnight charging at scale.

There aren’t enough raw materials to support widespread EV adoption (copper, lithium, cobalt, etc.)

Reality is EVs cannot work in rural settings

Sub-zero temperatures during the winter in many locations of the US guarantee failure of EVs.

Reality was what finally broke the Soviet model. The Soviet people simply stopped believing it could work.

Until the same disbelief occurs here, the USSA and the sovietization of EVs will continue.

The EV grift machine is far larger than anything Orange Fail can affect. There are whole industries and institutions that are 100% dependent on the lie of climate change to keep their funding & grift flowing. Until reality destroys their “business” model, they will keep the EV fraud moving forward.

Nothing changes until the masses realize that their power to change Goverment doesn’t come from the ballot box.

    • “At best he slows or temporarily pauses the pace at which .Gov subsidizes the move toward EVs.” – BID

If Trump doesn’t shut down the regulatory apparatuses that enforce these mandates, then they will continue later.

      He won’t shut them down.

    • Urban / apartment dwellers don’t have access to overnight charging at scale.

That particular issue shouldn’t be an impediment to EV adoption, though. After all, how many people with ICE-powered cars refuel their cars at home? Practically none. And there’s nothing magical about charging “overnight”, either. So even a total absence of such charging shouldn’t really be a problem.

The actual problem is the slow speed of chargers at charging stations. That problem does need to be addressed, so that it doesn’t take longer to charge an EV battery from 0-100 % than it takes to refill a fuel tank from 0-100 %. That’s a very modest and reasonable expectation, and if it can’t be done for whatever reason, then EVs are not viable at scale and should be abandoned. The notion that EV owners should have to put up with charging downtimes of several hours on a regular basis is preposterous, no matter the time of day.

  19. It’s too bad that OM didn’t END CAFE standards in his first term! Yes, he froze them at the then 36 mpg level, but he didn’t end them.

        • During the first term of Orange Man, many people still fantasized about driving to work at “Ludicrous Speed” in the Tesla which Musk promised would be in the mid $20k range if only the tax breaks would continue paying for development.

Remember how laptops eventually came down to $200?

    • ‘[Trump] froze [CAFE standards] at the then 36 mpg level, but he didn’t end them.’ — MarkyMark

‘Mend not end’ is the Repugnaclown party’s founding motto, applying to everything from ‘the Union’ (1861-1865) to the income tax (1913 – present) to Obamacare (2010 – end of time).

Mitt Romney remains the heart and soul of the R-party. His melancholy departure this year will leave a gaping hole. It may prove impossible to find another malleable collaborationist of Mitt’s mettle and stature to replace him. And Mitch ‘the Glitch’ McClownell, who shares many of Mitt’s attributes, is weak reed to lean on. 🙁

  20. ‘if the Orange Man is chosen, there is a chance the EV pushing will wane.’ — eric

When it comes to EeeVee pushers like Kackala, Big Gov is their best non-market ‘customer.’ Thus, we get aberrations like this:

‘The first handful of Next Generation Delivery Vehicles rolled onto postal routes in August in Athens, Georgia. The new trucks are being built by Oshkosh Defense in South Carolina.

‘Environmentalists were outraged when USPS announced that 90% of the next-gen vehicles in the first order would be gas-powered. The expense of the vehicles, compounded by the costs of installing thousands of charging stations and upgrading electrical service, made them unaffordable.

‘Biden’s adviser John Podesta offered $3 billion to the Postal Service, with part of it earmarked for electric charging stations. In Dec 2022, USPS announced that it was buying 106,000 vehicles through 2028. That included 60,000 next-gen vehicles, 45,000 of them electric models, along with 21,000 other electric vehicles. USPS pledged to go all-electric for new purchases starting in 2026.’ — APe News

This APe News article puff piece is nothing but PR Wire cheerleading, lightly rewritten by halfwit stenographers. Here’s a simple fact that eluded the APe News ‘journalists’ [sic]:

‘Estimated curb weight of the NGDV is 5,560 lb for the ICE version and 6,670 lb for the electric variant. Payload of the vehicles also varies slightly [sic]: 2,941 lb for the ICE; 2,207 lb for the BEV.’ — Wikipedia

DUH! Increase the weight by 1,110 lb to accommodate a honking great battery, LOSE 734 lbs of payload. A profit-seeking business would laugh this proposal right out of the boardroom. But for lifelong grifters such as Podesta and Kackala, this is a great deal — for THEM, not for us. You and I are out $3 billion, with lots more to follow, for this moronic Wokery.

    • Uh, a greater than 700# difference in payload is not what I’d call SLIGHT! That seems pretty significant to me. A seven pound difference in payload would be slight; a seven hundred pound difference is anything but.

      • Exactly. Also note that originally USPS called electric delivery vehicles ‘unaffordable.’

The fact that John ‘Pizzagate’ Podesta handed USPS $3 billion worth of looted dollars, still sticky with ‘walnut sauce,’ doesn’t change the EeeVees’ affordability one whit.

It just means that taxpayers — the only party without a seat at the pork-processing table — got shafted with the unaffordable tab.

Why does ‘Podesta’ sound so much like ‘pederast’? This guy needs to get a pair of Neuticles … for saaaaaaaaafety! 🙂

    • 2941 – 2207 = 734
      734/2941 = 0.2495
      25% decrease in payload
Paradoxically, the new vehicles have significantly larger cargo volume.

      6670 – 5560 = 1110
      1110/5560 = 0.1996
      20% increase in mass

      Can we discuss energy usage?
      Or is that verboten?
