“Shared Responsibility” – Again

I just got a reminder in the mail about why I voted for Trump. It’s the annual letter I get from the three letter agency that tells us how much of the money we worked to earn it says are “owed” to random other people who didn’t work to earn it.

But who voted to have it taken from us, by proxy of the same three-letter agency.

The same three letter agency that became the enforcement apparat for the tax that the Supreme Court – per “conservative” Republican Chief Justice John Roberts – decreed could be imposed on people who did not buy what is styled “health insurance” by the federal government, provided the government called it something else. That something else being a “shared responsibility” payment, as it is styled.

The styling is pure old-fashioned Communism – as Sheriff Buford T. Justice from 1977’s car-chase classic, Smokey and the Bandit put it. Only it’s not funny.

The assertion – made by Barack Hussein Obama, who is a Communist – is that each of us is somehow “responsible” for the “health” of everyone else and they ours.

At gunpoint,  of course.

That is what Communism always comes down to, the effeminate, sitting-around-the-campfire, Kumbaya posturing notwithstanding. “Shared responsibility” has the dual-tone sound of something that is both compassionate and righteous.

Most people want to be responsible – and accept the idea of holding people responsible for what they have done, when what they have done results in harm to others. But that is not the same as being held responsible for others. Or others being held responsible for them.

Mark the distinction.

Obama – and his “care” – says we each are somehow “responsible” for handing over money to the “health insurance” mafia (the words are italicized because health cannot be insured anymore than the future can be assured) and if we do not, then we “owe” money to the federal government.

This, of course, is not a “tax.”

Just as Rachel Levine is not a man. It is a shared responsibility payment.

And “she” really is a woman.

My “shared responsibility” payment comes to just shy of $1,000 now. Tax plus interest. But it could have been and would have been thousands more, because I have never handed over money to the “health insurance” mafia and I never will. For essentially the same reason I never wore the god-damned “mask” the same kinds of people said I had a responsibility to wear.

By now, the annual “shared responsibility” payment would have been several thousand – annually. Because the tax was meant  to increase every year, so as to make it progressively more punitive to shun one’s “responsibility” to hand over money to the “health insurance” mafia – in order to coerce the individual to give in and hand over money to the “heath insurance” mafia.

It was Trump that put a stop to that. He may not have ended Obamacare as he promised he’d do when he was running for president the first time. But after he was elected, he did de-fang Obamacare, by ending the “shared responsibility” payment. The federal government no longer sends you an additional tax bill each year if you have elected not to buy what is styled “health insurance,” as people in what was once a relatively free country were free not to do before Communists began to fundamentally transform America.

And so – thanks to Trump – we are once again free to not buy what is styled “health insurance,” which only ensures that the mafia collects money. Not that you will be “healthy.” Or – for that matter – that you will receive medical treatment as needed and that the cost of that will be paid by the “health insurance” mafia.

Mark the distinctions.

Your health is a function of genetics, habits and luck. You can try to live a healthier life – as by exercising regularly and eating reasonably – but  that does not ensure you will enjoy good health and handing over money to a state-supported, for-profit mafia for insurance most certainly doesn’t ensure it.

Just as wearing a “mask” did not ensure you wouldn’t catch a cold or spread one. But at least the people pushing “masks” on us didn’t send us a tax bill for not wearing the god-damned things.

But why am I – and others – still receiving these letters from the three letter agency stating that we “owe” a “shared responsibility” payment?  Well, because the initial round of taxes weren’t repealed. They were – and continue to be – held in abeyance. Which means that this tax could be re-applied and almost certainly would have been, had the recent election turned out differently.

But – for now – the tax is toothless and the letter can be used as toilet paper because the three letter agency has no power to collect what it says I and other refuseniks “owe” for not sending money to the mafia all those years ago.

So long as I am careful not to be “owed” a “refund” of the money taken from me by the very same three letter agency. Then they’d deduct what I “owe” from the “refund” I would no longer get.

Isn’t government great?

For now, though, I and others who have shunned our “shared responsibility” are safe. For the next four years, at least.

  1. Your article leaves me wondering if President Trump will do the right thing and finally remove this penalty or leave it in place knowing that GovCo needs the tax money.

Either way he should explain why it has to go or stay. As I’ve asked people in the past would you rather have a government “service” or a reduction in taxes no matter how small it might be. Sadly most people didn’t get it.
