“Law Enforcement”

Law enforcement is a terrible idea. A worse idea is that we owe thanks to those who enforce laws.

And to regard those who enforce them as “heroes.”

Why is it heroic to enforce tyranny – which is the case with regard to countless – arguably, most – laws? Is it even necessary to describe some of these? How about some of the recently enforced laws that weren’t even laws – such as the “mandates” that small business owners close their doors and stop doing business (and so go out of business, in many cases) because a “health” bureaucracy so ordered?

Who is empowered to give you a “ticket” – i.e., to take money out of your pocket – for not wearing a seatbelt – or helmet on your motorcycle?

Who enforces “checkpoints”?

Who can simply – under the law – seize any amount of cash money found on your person or in  the glovebox of your car during a traffic stop by claiming it could be “drug money”? Who seizes people who’ve not caused harm to others but have been found in possession of arbitrarily illegal “drugs.”

Who manacles and cages them?

Who will enforce the law when the law says it is no longer legal for people who’ve not shot anyone to be in a position to shoot back when they are attacked by thugs with guns? Including those with badges?

Such laws are all over the books already – and they are enforced.

Is it good? Is it right? If it is not . . . why are we expected to consider those who do wrong by enforcing such laws to be good, even laudable? Why are we not appalled? Not only are we expected to cheer such tyranny but required to fund it, too!

Even Stalin’s chicken is embarrassed.

“Law enforcement” insinuated its way into the general currency of language over the past 40 years, before which time there were cops – and police. And – not coincidentally – more freedom.

It is not etymologically pedantic to note the change in verbiage, for it correlates exactly with greatly increased tyranny, in form as well as function.

When there were police, there weren’t body-armed, web-geared emulators of military shock troops.  Outside of prisons. Or confined to the basements of back-alley military surplus stores, where people with creepy authoritarian fetishes could put on their “gear” and envision themselves Judge Dredd (see the movie if you haven’t to gauge the both the look and the mindset of a law enforcer).

Perhaps while reverently passing used cans of Zyklon B from hand to hand.

These types were portrayed by other characters in movies and TeeVee, such as the odious Colonel Flagg in M*A*S*H. Then in reality – as in the person of actual Colonel Oliver North, who probably more than any other figure became a kind of fetish object, himself, for those trained to worship the uniform of those who enforce things, laws and otherwise.

Many on the right – ostensibly not in favor tyranny – were trained to reflexively “support” – that is, to reflexively worship – those who enforced it. To thank them for their “service.” For which they are often extremely well-paid, by those forced to pay them for these “services.”

But it was – and isn’t – exclusively a right-wing thing.

On the Left, there was the concomitant militarization of what had been cops and police under the Clinton thing (and its even worse thing, Attorney General Janet Reno). The Hut! Hut! Hut! became the routine. For traffic stops all the way up. Almost no matter what – or, rather, at the first sign of lack of reverence.

People who’d broken laws – even trivial ones – were no longer merely placed under arrest, as was the case when we had cops and police. They were – and still are – ordered to get on the ground, now! – even when there’s no reason to so order them, other than to degrade and humiliate them. So that everyone knows that if they ever have to deal with an enforcer, they could be lying on the ground at the pleasure of the enforcer – and for almost any reason.

Cops and police – when we had them – weren’t considered “heroes” and yet, interestingly, many of them conducted themselves heroically. They didn’t ask for special treatment – or even to be “thanked” for their “service.” They could usually be talked to and even if you talked back, you usually would not be ordered to “get on the ground, now!

Today, we have body-armed Hut! Hut! Hutters! who wait outside elementary schools being shot up and expect to be treated as “heroes” while operating out of an abundance of caution for their “safety” – at the expense of everyone else’s.

Who prevented actually heroic parents from attempting to rescue kids they were afraid to take a bullet for.

But the basic problem isn’t body-armored poltroonery. It is this idea of law enforcement. This notion that it is honorable – noble – to be such a character, without any inquiry made into what laws, exactly, are being enforced. Nor to weigh what it says about those who enforce laws without questioning them, just because it’s the law.

A step in the right direction would perhaps be to stop using the term, which merely by using it legitimates it. Instead, we ought to be questioning it. If a law is right and proper, such as laws that criminalize physical violence, theft and robbery – apprehending and holding responsible those who break them is right and proper.

But it is dangerously wrong and improper to carte blanche “support” – and even worse, to “thank” – those who simply enforce, because it is the law.

  1. The latest FF and Obummer’s words signal something more nefarious is afoot besides taking guns.

Obummer coming out to tell everyone to remember George Floyd and how he was treated at the hands of law enforcement signaled to me that the real move is to federalize the police. No more electing Sheriffs, just Federales ahead folks. Obummer said back in the day that he wanted a national police force as well funded as the military. “Defund the police” isn’t about getting rid of the police, its about replacing them.

Video of the parents asking LE to go inside the school is meant to show incompetence.

    Remember the Broward Cowards?

And just think of all that military hardware that has accumulated in law enforcement’s hands that will now go to the Federales. Then they will come for the guns.

    • Re JumpR Kabel – anarchotyranny is a term someone smarter than me coined describing government engineered societal breakdown to centralize power. Letting criminal animals roam free is a feature along with emasculating people’s ability to defend themselves. Pretty accurate

      • Also electing sherriffs – probably the most indepedent of LEOs – gets you an occasional outlier -one that resist or refuse efforts to subvert the Constitution. Not allowed

    • “The Nazis had a phrase that covered all abuses by the State: ‘Für euer sischerheit’ —> ‘It’s for your safety’”

  2. I ceased being a slave to that shit years ago. Force and coercion… it’s all theft… a revenue stream for the state. LEO’s (previously Peace Officers) accuse you of committing a “crime” but never show up to sit on the altar to be cross-examined because upon being questioned under oath by one that is privvy to the game, would perjure themselves, and thus be subject to counterclaims. Several of those instances would cause them to be… unemployable. The black robed cult act to judge you for you sins, forcing you to “confess” to manmade policies that have no force of law. It’s a f*cking scam and always has been.

US. SUPREME COURT DECISION – The common law is the real law, the Supreme Law of the land, the code, rules, regulations, policy and statutes are “not the law”, [Self v. Rhay, 61 Wn (2d) 261]

US. SUPREME COURT DECISION – “All codes, rules, and regulations are for government authorities only, not human/Creators in accordance with God’s laws. All codes, rules, and regulations are unconstitutional and lacking due process…” [Rodriques v. Ray Donavan (U.S. Department of Labor) 769 F. 2d 1344, 1348 (1985).]

  3. Well, tomorrow’s the big day! I’m not normally one for secular ‘holidays’, but I’m a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to Memorial Day- so bright and early tomorrow I’ll be getting out there and hitting a few cemeteries, and pissing on the graves of the mercenaries!

  4. And speaking of private security, imagine that you have a contract with a private company to protect a loved one who lives far enough away from you that you can’t protect her yourself. One day a guy breaks into her home and slashes her to death. No employee of the security company that you’re paying is anywhere to be found. You start to worry when she doesn’t answer the phone, so you call the company, which immediately sends somebody to the scene to fill out a report on what happened.

Would you be satisfied with their service? Would you accept their excuse that “Sir, you have to understand: we can’t be everywhere”? Would you think they held up their end of the deal if they eventually locked up the guy who did it?

  5. They are legislation enforcement officers, not law enforcement officers.

This is one of the reasons private security is so much more effective: it doesn’t have to concern itself with enforcing silly crap dreamed up by politicians.

Imagine that government cops have never existed, and everybody pays for their own protection. A representative of the security company that you use stops by to talk about renewing your annual contract. “We are offering a fabulous new service!” he announces. “For an extra $100 a month, we will lock up people three counties away who are using drugs that you don’t approve of.”

How many customers do you think would spring for that extra “protection”?

  6. As l. Neil Smith wrote in the book “The American Zone”: “How can you even pretend to protect people once making them afraid of you becomes part of the job?” and that’s where we are now; makes it kind of hard to back the blue with the kind of “stuff” they’ve been doing the last couple of decades.

  7. Wit all the hell of the modern world plunging into manufactured crisese there are glimmers of hope. The Texas shooting showed the total depravity of our fucking “heroes” and the fact we are really all on our own. In like crystal clear terns. Folks who see things like us have always known that but now 300 million people know it And the delicious beating that Russia is giving to our monumentally stupid proxy war in that dump of a nazi nation. I joined twitter just to follow this war and it is awesome. American Afghan vet mercenaries literally shitting their pants in the face of Russian tanks and artillery. I just friggin love it. Die fuckers.

    • Crude oil exports, hydrocarbons exported to the US, are from Canada, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, first to fourth in that order. The US is the world’s leader in exported refined petroleum products.

Russia is the third-largest supplier of oil to the U.S.

Canada is numero uno and Mexico is in second place.

It’s costs an arm and leg when you have to pay through the nose for a litre of petrol.

Putin hires mercenaries to be combatants in the special operation, the invasion of Ukraine.

It’s not even a war, it is mercenaries at each other’s throats. Must be something special.

“And we’re bound for the border
      We’re soldiers of fortune
And we’ll fight for no country but we’ll die for good pay

Or the peso down Mexico way” – Steve Earle, Mercenary Song

  8. “Understand this, if you pay taxes you already own a gun. You just pay an officer down the street to hold it for you and hope they arrive in time if you ever need them.”

    • Since you have little control over it, I would suggest you are renting that gun. Which may be turned against you if you fail to obey.

  9. The classic “Libertarian” briefing on how cops are the real bad guys is by the infamous Mark Passio who explains in detail that laws have no power unless some paid thug enforces them.

Think about it: some scumbag lawyer writes the law, the politician (paid hack) introduces a bill and then Congress passes it, then it is signed by el Presidente, but the law is just some scribbles on parchment – it only has teeth if some armed thug is willing to arrest or kill you enforcing it.

    • Hi Yukon,

Yes, exactly. Without “heroes,” government is just an impotent gaggle of pants-suited busybodies. Hillary Clinton just an annoying neighbor’s annoying wife. Joe Biden the creepy geezer down the road that the kids all know to avoid…

      • Ok, it’s all well and good for those of us that are Self-sufficient and Self-governing (yeah, it’s a pun on my last name!) to proclaim our independence from “Gubmint”, LEOs, and the myriad of useless codes, laws, and statutes that seem to accomplish little other than to sustain the parasitic class.

So, and I leave this for another thread…how do we (1) get RID of them altogether, at least without forming ANOTHER “Gubmint” that could become like them and (2) maintain order among ourselves?

That we have a terrible system, I’ve no doubt. But is NO system any better? Or if the issue is of REPLACEMENT, then with WHAT? I mean, I have my ideas, but the problem with that is they’re MY ideas, they’re not YOURS. Somewhere, even if it’s just you and I, we still have to work out a compromise that best satisfies both. Now, mix that up by some 325 millions, and I dunno how we’ll end up with something much different than what we’ve already got. Thoughts?

  10. It’s Memorial Day weekend, everyone knows what that means, a shit-ton of cops on the roads handing out road-tax slips, er I mean, tickets.

I’ve never seen so many cops on the highway which runs past my place as I saw today.

I saw a car pulled over & the driver likely getting ticketed and imagined it made his/her/its weekend ‘memorable’ … that’s what this weekend is all about, right? “Law Enforcement” & the extra displays just special for this weekend… and of course, July Fourth [not Independence Day, that’s old school] don’t forget, it’s almost here.

…Being an obeyer, is what makes America great!

…Being a ticket payer, is what keeps things going, er at least, for those who get the loot. No wonder they all drive Very nice vehicles, much nicer than mine. And that’s the way it’s supposed to be. I’m mean, who wants to get a ticket from a cop driving a Yugo?

    https://fee.org/articles/three-felonies-a-day-how-the-feds-target-the-innocent/

A lot of somebodies favorite grocery store, Aldi, is putting in special digital price displays, that way, the store employees don’t have to waste time & $ changing the prices all the time.

…Just think, the price of the item you put in your grocery cart could go UP by the time you get to the checkout line.
…I wonder if that tactic will drift over to traffic tickets somehow? Wouldn’t that be grand?

    The Fun. Just. Never. Stops.

  11. Maybe it is just a coincidence, but I think FDR said that in politics, there are no coincidences. But I find it odd that this A-hole shot up a school in Texas just before the NRA holds its annual meeting in Texas. And, was the police response just cowardice and incompetence, or something more sinister?

    • I think that the Uvalde shooting was a gov’t false flag operation. How else to explain a normally always-locked door being propped open for 12 minutes? How else to explain the cops not going in? How else to explain the fact that these same cops blocked parents from going in? Could it be because the parents would then SEE for themselves that what we’ve been told about the shooter isn’t true? Would the parents’ presence inside the school blow the cover for said FF operation? As FDR said, there are NO coincidences in politics!

“FIJA empowers jurors to uphold individual rights and liberty by instilling in them a rich understanding of their protective role, including jurors’ right to refuse to enforce unjust law.”

    • Libertyx, I would encourage anyone to accept jury duty, and not to display anything that might keep you from being empaneled. A jury has more power than the POTUS. It can suspend any law it pleases, for any reason.

  13. This is probably as good a time as any to remind/explain the difference between MALUM EN SE and MALUM PROHIBITUM.

The Latin term MALUM EN SE translates roughly to “wrong in itself,” The phrase is used to refer to someone’s actions that are inherently wrong, such as murder rape, theft, destruction of property, etc. In other words, were there is an identifiable victim. Whereas MALUM PROHIBITUM refers to an act that is only wrong because it is merely prohibited by law, such as speeding (and virtually all laws regarding driving), drug use, engaging in business without a license, construction without a permit, gun possession, etc. In this case there is usually no identifiable victim (or it is termed that the victim is the “society”).

    • This is an excellent comment. I wish we could sky-write this on at least a daily basis over every population center.

  14. Once again have to get out the broken record. Decentralized neighborhood police forces are preferable to the highly centralized politicized police we have today. Accountable to no one, the chief of police in a large city only has to worry about their media presence and how well they get along with the newspapers. They don’t see the people they’re hired to protect, so they don’t exist.

What’s that you say? What about poor and low income neighborhoods? That’s where militias and watch groups would be useful. And without all the overhead of a policial bureaucracy what’s to say it wouldn’t cost less too?

  15. Listening to the Buck Sexton on the Rush Limbaugh show and he seemed bewildered as to how police could not respond appropriately in this situation. Easy to explain:
    https://mises.org/power-market/police-have-no-duty-protect-you-federal-court-affirms-yet-again

AGW’s are not under any lawful requirement to protect you or your property (until they actually *arrest* you then when you are in their custody, they have an obligation to provide your safety (ask Epstein)). So, you have the Supreme Court agreeing with this decision, does it create the culture of AGW’s first and citizenry last? Even to the point that the citizenry is the enemy of their gang in blue. The AGW’s even have their own flag.

Lastly, Governor Abbott, you shameless bastard repeating the AGW’s lies. Anyone going to get fired for that?

    • Funny how, prior to the (un)Civil War, large “Po-Leece” departments were virtually unknown, and the County Sheriff, being elected and more an outfit that served and enforced orders of the courts, which weren’t numerous, at most had to call up a “posse” of the local men to exert force…which again, wasn’t all that often.

It seems the trouble with a republic is that it only works when it’s needed very little, if at all, as most folks assume personal responsibility for their own lives, including protecting same, and the means and legal ability to do so aren’t interfered with. It’s when somehow it was decided to turn the issue of “pube-lick” safety to a class of hired AGWs that it all went to…CRAP. And that’s with conscientious LEOs, doing their utmost to bravely do their jobs, with an eye to respect of civil rights, simply because (1) they’re human and (2) they can’t be everywhere, with overwhelming firepower to squash the “bad guys”. Needless to say, when the LEOs are neither “brave” nor conscientious, then they’re as bad if not WORSE than those they’re supposed to “police”.

  16. I’ve never been mugged and threatened with kidnapping, except by law enforcement. Thats all I need to know about the gang in blue.

    • I have been mugged by a non-LEO, but I FOUGHT BACK! Had I done that while being mugged by a copper, I’d probably be pushing up the daisies.

    • Yeah X

Huber was apparently going up to Canada to help the truckers and their anti-‘vaccine’ movement too. Imagine is this guy was bLACK, and going to an anti-abortion rally… or just the store.

  17. I gag every time I hear a newscaster refer to these thugs as “heroes”, this BS started big time with 9/11 and the Chimp, though it had been percolating slowly since Tricky Dicks “war on drugs”.

  18. Spot on Anarchyst. As for the coward polis (both Uvalde municipal and Texas DPS) who “assessed the situation” happening in Robb Elementary or whatever the hell they were doing in the parking lot for 40 minutes, they have proven once again that having a badge and a state sanctioned firearm seems to take away both brains and guts. I suspect it was all those years of jacking people up for traffic citations and siezing assets that made their guts three sizes too small. Uvalde is a small town halfway between San Antonio and Del Rio (and therefore Ciudad Acuna in Mexico) on Highway 90. Acuna is the closest town in Mexico to Houston and other Texas population centers, so for decades, Uvalde had lots of through traffic from outside Uvalde County. You know what that means. Yep, it became a speed trap and “I smell weed, the dog hit on your car, you didn’t stop at the stop sign, etc.” sort of place. It also didn’t help things that lots of summertime traffic from kids driving to Garner State Park also went through Uvalde. So, when I hear of Uvalde PD hanging back and not “protecting and serving”, I am not surprised. They appear to the outsider to be a classic corrupt arm of the municipal-legal complex.

  19. At age 16 to 25 (2003-2012) through I used to be a SAWWWFT conservative type who loved The Chimp and wanted to nuke the Middle East. I hated drugs and turned down a very cute girl in high school because I had only heard that she smoked marijuana (I still kick my own ass about that when I think of it).

In 2012, I became a small part of the Ron Paul Revolution, or whatever you want to call it. Learned a lot about why the 2008 Recession happened and why I lost my first job I had after a year on the job market.

Lately, I’ve been having fun breaking the law. Little things of course. Non-aggressive things. Expired tags on my plates, driving without insurance, buying WEEEEED for the first time in Michigan and transporting it across state lines just because it was illegal. I’m not even a big fan of the stuff. I just wanted to give Indiana State Troopers the invisible finger. And while it isn’t a crime (yet) to have a 33 round mag for my Glock handgun, I bought it for the hell of it, and I’ll never let it go.

Ron Paul and Tom Woods definitely helped me be such an awful trouble-maker, but you Eric? You are absolutely helping my corruption-transformation too. I hope you are happy. And thanks for your articles.

  20. Still seems to be a difference between some county sheriffs and city cops, at least out here. I often see city cops 4&5 deep, tossing the car of some poor teens, probably just looking for something, anything to use against them. At the end of their shift they probably stand around the locker room jacking each other off. Something askew about people who enjoy tormenting defenseless people.

I was proud of my county sheriff. One day at a meeting he was being hectored by some lick licks on our county commission. The issue was why he couldn’t “Do something” about people who were obviously growing MJ in their yard. The two needle rapists, whose campaigns were heavily subsidized by a local appendage of big Pharma kept repeating how MJ was against federal law, and should be treated as a felony. His reply was along the lines of ‘I don’t work for the federal Government, I enforce the laws of AZ and Yavapai county. Which has decided by a vote that MJ cultivation is not a crime’

Still he did enforce the dicktates of the county commission when it came to con-vid, shutting down parks in the beginning. After a couple weeks and furious anger, with people tearing down the crime scene tape erected around the swing set, the sherifs looked the other way, backed off and stoped bothering people who just wanted to use the park, ignoring the county commission. Can only hope this sheriff doesn’t get bought off and go full totalitarian when the Donkey-pox shows up. He seems smart enough to realize, never go full totalitarian, or we the people might just go full 1776

      • Hey John, as you know, thats one of the perks of living away from civilization. For those of us who want to be left alone we don’t call 911.

        • Indeed Norman, my sheriff has a “call us if you need us” philosophy. I cannot remember the last time I saw a deputy car cruising the highway looking for trouble where there was none. At least five years.

          • In addition, they can be useful defending you against the State and the FedGov too. If they’re willing. In Missouri they have more power in their county than the governor does. I’ve got mine on speed dial in case some State or FedGov agent shows up without a warrant and refuses to leave. “I’ve got a trespasser that refuses to leave. It’s going to get messy if you don’t come over and help.”

            • Thats a good strategy for an unwanted hut hutter of the state or fed persuasion John. I think I will incorporate that into our self defense plan.

      • In King County Washington the citizen Einsteins voted to change from elected to appointed Sheriff. Now the commie Executive picks the sheriff and the lackey council rubber stamps approval. Disgusting. King County in Western WA is the epicenter of fruitcake government, there is a huge divide between left wing West and hard working conservatives here in Eastern WA. Unfortunately that county is the pipeline for future governors guaranteed by the massive left wing voting bloc in the Puget Sound area.

        • Hey Sparkey, I know a guy left there 30+ years ago, the stories he tells. Place was once a veritable paradise. I’ve been there a couple times the last few years and could never get past that insufferable traffic on that I-5 corridor. Tacoma, Olympia, Ana Cortes, all of them would be a killer summer place, if it weren’t for all the soppy lib front-holes.

        • RE: “the citizen Einsteins voted to change from elected to appointed Sheriff”

This trend, of letting others decide. It’s why my parents got, The Clot Shot. It’s why my brother & his baby-momma gave their kids, The Clot-Sterilization-Shot.

          …There’s a children’s cautionary tale there, somewhere.

Myself, ‘The Little Red Hen’ keeps looping.
That, and, ‘The Ant & the Grasshopper’.

          • A slew of kiddie stories could use a bit of critical fabulation to counter the current narrative. I’m sure the left would lose their s@#t if we started doing this. After all whats good for the goose is good fo the gander.

  21. We are like the proverbial frog slowly cooking to death. Over the past 30 years we got “Homeland Security”, TSA searches at airports, license plate scanners, police and military uniforms almost indistinguishable, NSA, tech companies joined at the hip with the feds spying on regular people, etc. If our grandparents were to come back today, their reactions would be shock and confusion. They may even ask when did the NAZIs take over?!

  22. It was these costumed pussies enforcing mask mandates and playground closures on all of us. And who show up in black with full Batman gear to intimidate parents at school board meetings. They have chosen sides. Remember that as you hump the flag and sing how proud you are to be an American where at least you know you’re free this weekend.

  23. I worked with the state police a very long time ago. At least back then I found there were two types:

    a) the guy who genuinely wanted to help his fellow man, and

    b) the militaristic prick with the high n tight who enjoyed power over people.

Needless to say, type a was a very small minority. The fish rotted from the head down. I recall being in a meeting where I off handed my commentef about ticket quotas. The chief of the state police dressed me down quite angrily. I told him yeah but there’s a line item in your budget based on citations, hence a quota. No one could believe the southern engineer geek had the stones to challenge the midwestern respect-mah-authoritah chief.

    • Mike, the largest nearby town, 20 miles away, has a line item in its budget for asset forfeiture. Which as you know is even more armed robbery than taxes are.

      • My experience on a private and personal level was they were either bullies, or they did not give fuck. One of them was my marijuana supplier for about a year. Most likely stolen marijuana. At gunpoint.

    • “fish rotted from the head down”

That’s my Memorial Day image. Add, a dog, rolling in it.

…I’m surrounded by a bunch of rotting fish intermixed with Freedomista types trying to live free in an un-free world.

… “Stefan Molyneux, a well-known anarchist, gave a great talk last year where he pointed out that, “The enforcement of the state does not come from the state. It comes horizontally, from the mass of the people who have been cultured to believe the storyline of vertical state control.” He calls this “the genius of the state.” He calls these enforcers slaves, enforcing their own slavery.” …

Here at the house, I have a couple of decades plus of military experience. I have tools to dig in or out of natural disasters. I have extinguishers and hoses. I have a field trauma kit and bandages. I have weapons both melee and firearm. I know how to use them. I know how to trench, support and revet. I understand the fire triangle and appropriate approaches. I understand breathing, bleeding and shock. I know how to detain, restrain and control. I have done all of these at least occasionally, professionally. I’ve stood on top of a collapsing levee in a flood. I’ve fought a structure fire from inside so we could get everyone out before the fire department showed up, which only took two minutes, but people can die that fast. I’ve had structures collapse while I was working on them. I’ve been in an aircraft that had a “mechanical” on approach and had to be repaired in-flight before landing. I’ve helped control a brush fire. I’ve hauled disabled vehicles out of ditches in sub-zero weather.

My ex wife has over a decade of service and some of the same training.

We have trained our young adult children.

My wife is a rancher who knows her way around a shotgun, livestock, sutures and tools, hurricanes and floods, and works in investigations professionally.

Our current house guest is another veteran.

This means if anything happens at the house, and last year we had a lightning strike, a tornado and a flood within 10 days’ we’re pretty well prepared.

Now, we’re probably better off than 95% of the households out there. The level of disaster that necessitates backup varies.

If we find it necessary to call 911, it means the party is in progress and it’s bad.

You will probably not be going home safe at the end of your shift.

And you know what? If it gets to that point, I really don’t give a shit. I don’t give a shit if you get smoked. I don’t give a shit if you fall under a tree. I don’t give a shit if you get shot at.

Because at that point, I’ve done everything I can with that same circumstance, and run out of resources.

If my concern was “you going home safe,” then I’d just fucking hunker down and die. Because I wouldn’t want that poor responder to endanger himself.

Except, that’s what I pay taxes for, and that’s what you signed up for. Just like I signed up to walk into a potential nuke war in Germany and hold off the Soviets, and did walk into the Middle East and prepare to take fire while keeping expensive equipment functioning so our shooters could keep shooting.

There’s not a single set of orders I got that said my primary job was to “Come home safe.” They said it was to “support the mission” or “complete the objective.” Coming home safe was the ideal outcome, but entirely secondary to “supporting” or “completing.” Nor, once that started, did I get a choice to quit. Once in, all in.

When that 80 year old lady smells smoke or hears a noise outside her first floor bedroom in the ghetto, she doesn’t care if you go home safe, either. She’s afraid she or the kids next door won’t wake up in the morning.

If I call, I expect your ass to show up, sober, trained, professional. I expect you to wade in with me or in place of me, and drag a child out of a hole, or out from a burning room, or actually stand up and block bullets from hitting said child, because by the time you get there, I’ll have already done all that. And there will be field dressings, chainsawed trees, buckets and empty brass scattered about.

I don’t want to hear some drunk and confused guy squirming on the ground playing “Simon Says” terrified you so much you had to blow him away. I don’t want to hear that some random guy 35 yards away who you had no actual information on , may have reached toward his waist band. Or that “the tree might fall any moment” or that “the smoke makes it hard to see.”

Near as I can tell, I don’t hear the smokejumpers, or the firefighters, or the disaster rescue people say such things.

But it’s all I ever hear from the cops. If you and your five girlfriends in body armor, with rifles, are that terrified of actually risking your life for the theoretically dangerous job you volunteered for and can quit any time, then please do quit.

You can get a job doing pest control and go home safe every night.

Until a bunch of fucking pussies with big tattoos, small dicks, body armor and guns blow you away for minding your own business.

Because what you’re telling me with that statement is, your only concern is cashing a check. That’s fine. But if that’s your concern, don’t pretend you’re serving the public. If you wanted to help people at risk of life, you would be a firefighter, running into buildings, dragging people out, getting scorched regularly.

If you’re cool with writing tickets, then there’s jobs where you can do just that.

If you want to tangle with bad guys and blow them away, fair enough. But understand: That means they get to shoot first to prove their intent, just as happens with the military these days. Our ROE these days are usually “only if fired upon and no civilians are at risk.”

If your plan is “shoot first, shoot later, shoot some more, then if anyone is still alive try to ask questions,” and bleat, “But I was afeard fer mah lahf!” you’re absolutely no better than the thugs you claim to oppose. All you are is another combatant in a turf war I don’t care about.

Since I know your primary concern is “being safe,” then I’ll do you the favor of not calling. Cash your welfare check, and try not to shoot me at a “courtesy” sobriety checkpoint for “twitching my eye “in a way that suggested range estimation.

If you’re one of the vanishingly few cops who isn’t like that, then what the hell are you doing about it? If there’s going to be a lawsuit costing the city millions, isn’t it better that it be a labor suit from the union over the clown you fired, than a wrongful death suit over the poor bastard the clown shot? Both are expensive, but one has a dead victim you enabled. So how much do you actually care about that life?

How is the training so bad that it’s not clear who is the scene commander who gives the orders?

How is it that trigger happy bozos who, out of costume, look no different from the gangbangers you claim to oppose, get sent up front to fulfill their wish of hosing someone down because “I was afraid for my life!”?

Why does the rot exist in your department?

If you can’t do anything about it, why are you still in that department?

At some point, collective guilt is a thing.

You’ve probably not been a good cop for a long time.

And I still don’t care if you go home safe. I care that everyone you purport to “serve and protect” goes home safe.

    • Good post anarchyst, sums up the behavior of the pussies who waited outside while the nut job inside the Texas school was killing the kids with impunity

  25. Your neighborhood friendly peace officer is a thing of the past.

When CNN was in its infancy, there was a video of a couple walking down a street. The suspect was being tailed by a detective. The suspect turned and quickly drove a knife into detective. The other officers at the scene moved in and tackled the criminal. “Take a billy club and beat his knuckles so he can’t do it again,” said one officer. Gotta hurt some.

It was on television, not something you would see these days, maybe maybe not.

Difficult to trust someone who drives a knife into your back. Might want to apprehend and incarcerate them for crimes committed.

A story from 2017 exposing FDA incompetence:

    https://www.statnews.com/2017/06/05/actemra-rheumatoid-arthritis-fda/

The title: Failure to warn: Hundreds died while taking an arthritis drug, but nobody alerted patients

The story focuses on the drug Actemra prescribed for rheumatoid arthritis relief. A rather high death rate from Actemra, like Vioxx. Myocardial infarcts were the culprit, Actemra did a number on people. Have to blame the drug, not the people manufacturing and distributing the drug, they are immune to prosecution.

“Sentinel’s track record is all the more worrisome amid the rise of an approve-first, monitor-later philosophy in Washington. The recently passed 21st Century Cures Act is intended to speed federal sign-off on new medicines by streamlining pre-approval reviews of drug safety and efficacy. The Trump administration and prominent members of Congress are itching to push drugs through the regulatory pipeline faster than ever, then hope to catch any missed safety problems after they’re on the market.”

Has to be money involved with decisions to advance an untested drug that causes harm and can be fatal.

Looks like Trump is one of the main perpetrators, Warp Speed works like a charm.

Doesn’t look like the gov is there for your general good health and happiness.

  26. About a year ago during heightened tyranny I got a call from the PBA seeking a donation. I told them, “I generally support police, but I DO NOT support a police STATE. Since we’ve become a police state, you can go to the STATE for your money!! Those same pigs would take me off the street for not wearing a mask and I’m gonna donate MY money to THEM? NOPE!!”

That was the end of that call.

About 2 years ago during an even more heightened tyranny, a police boat stopped a bunch of innocent kids on their jet skis in the canal beneath my high rise condo, just flexing their muscle and demanding “papers.” I yelled from my balcony, “why don’t you leave people alone? All that newfound power’s going to your head, you fuckin PIG!!”

The pig shouted back, “thank you!!” Or maybe it was one of the kids ….

  27. After leaving grad school, I worked for one of the big consulting companies briefly, and my “member manager” was a Hero attempting to triple dip retirement with the company stock purchase plan after 20 years in the Army and some length of time in “law enforcement” somewhere. He never turned “cop” off. We wondered, based on his personality, if the hero agency he worked for gave him an early retirement because he hurt or possibly shot someone.

After I turned in notice, the next employee to resign was walked to the door for “stealing” — a $2 discrepancy on an expense report over a bottle of soda at Office Depot — probably as an example for the others.

  28. No victim, no crime. There can be no other moral enforcement of law. Police today enforce “crimes” against the state almost exclusively. What that makes them is behavior controllers, not officers of peace.

Seems this all started going down hill after the creations of SWAT. Police went from public employees towards a paramilitary force. The military training has trickled from SWAT to the street cop, complete with the attitude that goes with that.

All encouraged by the 1033 program, loading your local cops up with military equipment. Does the federal government desire the military to walk among us and keep tabs? Since they can’t, they have found the next best thing.

Officer friendly was a great piece of propaganda, grabbing kids and telling them their overseers are really good guys that keep them from getting killed. As we can see, that is not true.

Cops work for those who sign their checks, not those who fund it. You don’t matter but you will comply.

  29. As I’ve repeatedly said, all governments on the planet are founded on their assumption of authority to kill you if you don’t obey. Some are more vigorous about it than others, but given that authority, that could change either way at any time.
Which brings the question of the mentality of those who willingly serve as the muscle for that authority. Whether their willing service is on behalf of laws against aggression or laws in favor of tyranny. If they make no distinction, their mental state is without moral foundation or ethical standard. In which case they should rightfully be recognized for what they are, sociopaths, and feared accordingly. Disgust being an appropriate response. Certainly not celebration. Very likely, any who make such distinction are summarily dismissed from a short career.
There’s a description that predates “cops and police”. Peace keepers. Now we have peace breakers.

    • ” all governments on the planet are founded on their assumption of authority to kill you if you don’t obey” – John

All power is illusory unless you can personally enforce it. Politicians need the cops to be willing to kill and as the rules get more oppressive and nonsensical, they need them to be increasingly more willing to kill.

      • Dan, there is only one situation that could possibly justify a SWAT teem appearance, and that is a hostage situation. Now they are routinely used for serving warrants. Which means people, and especially their dogs, are being executed for misdemeanors. “But they might flush their drugs!” So what? is that worth risking people’s lives over?

      • Anon, I learned that when I was 18, in 1972, when I started working, and being taxed, and had my name entered in the draft lottery.

  30. A majority of “law enforcement” don’t even know the law they are simply order followers. If they followed the letter of the law they would refuse to engage in anything that was against the constitution that LEOs and military swear an oath to. In which case we would have a much better society run on base principles, not codes and statutes and mandates (Whatever the hell that means) that change from one election cycle to the next. Not that blindly following politician scribbles (which is what the constitution is BTW) can ever be a moral thing it would just be more logically consistent. Although still “just following orders”

The past two years have shown me 85% or more of these slobs in Law enforcement will do whatever the hell suits their superiors (the oneS dangling their paycheck and pension over their head) they care nothing for “the law.” Let cities burn while citing and arresting people for daring to go to the gym or a house if worship, or simply engage in business. These are largely immoral brainless “people.” I won’t forget what these golems are what they’ve done, none of us should.

Mark Passio has done extensive presentations of the enforcer class and really breaks down the psychology of the phenomenon.
