The irony of Jesse Ventura calling for a new “American Revolution” in a conversation with Brit Piers Morgan is not lost on us but the former Governor of Minnesota asks some awkwardly open questions in this ‘colorful’ interview.

Ventura asked if the government’s shut down, “That should mean we shouldn’t have to pay any taxes, right?” He called for another American revolution to push back against the “corrupt system” created by Democrats and Republicans in WashingtonHe told Morgan the two-party system has legalized “bribery” for access, suggesting he’s fed up enough to actually run for president in 2016. Ventura called both parties “gangs,” and Morgan admitted he had to agree, adding that they’re “overpaid, underworked children!” The discussion then veers from Obamacare, Ventura’s run for President, and the JFK conspiracy.

    • Jesse’s not quite an intellectually consistent Libertarian, granted. And he may not be the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree. But he strikes me as decent – at any rate, someone with at least vestigial empathy, who isn’t like the robotic sociopaths (Chimp, Obama, et al) who speak blithely in “we” and casually dispose of other people’s lives and fortunes without even momentarily stopping to consider the people whose lives they so indifferently dispose of.

I may be wrong about Jesse. I’ve never met him and am only evaluating him based upon interviews I’ve seen and so on.

But compared with, say, Chris Christie, he seems like a step in the right direction.

      • After the legislature refused to increase spending for security, Ventura attracted criticism when he decided not to live in the governor’s mansion during his tenure, choosing instead to shut it down and stay at his home in Maple Grove.

His son used the Governor’s home for weekend parties and Jesse ended up paying for some minor damage from parties to the residence after his term ended.

Ventura drew frequent fire from the press in the Twin Cities. He referred to reporters as “media jackals,” On the press passes required to enter the governor’s press area, the words “media jackals” were prominently displayed.

When asked on David Letterman which twin city was better, he said “Minneapolis. Those streets in St. Paul must have been designed by drunken Irishmen. There’s one place downtown where 3rd street crosses 6th street how can that be right?”

While interviewed by Piers Morgan, he said, “My theory of 9/11 is that at a minimum, they knew it was going to happen. They allowed it to occur to further their agenda in the Middle East and go to all these wars.”

Ventura stated he believed America had become “fascist” and that he was seeking dual citizenship in both the United States and Mexico, He said he no longer felt patriotic and raises his fist during the playing of the national anthem at public events. He refused to fly commercially and repeatedly says, “I love my country, not my government.”

During his wrestling days, Ventura used steroids he admitted. He made public service announcements warning young people about the potential danger of abusing steroids.

Ventura said in an interview on NBC that he considered himself to be a Christian but did not believe he needed to attend church to be one.

In a Playboy interview, he said, “Organized religion is a sham and a crutch for weak-minded people who need strength in numbers. It tells people to go out and stick their noses in other people’s business.”

“I have a problem with people who think they have the right to try to impose their beliefs on others. I hate fanatics who feel if everybody doesn’t accept their version of reality, they are somehow invalidated. Anyone who believes others must feel the same things you do is weak and destructive.”

While in office, and in interviews and books, Ventura recommended decriminalizing or legalizing “victimless” crimes, including drug use and prostitution. But he didn’t feel it worth the effort to try to force through legislation while Governor.

He greatest accomplishment is considered to be his success in reforming the MN property tax structure and making it harder to increase rates.

      • eric, you underestimate Jesse. He CAN use correct English but like me, thinks it’s not worth the effort. He’s thought about all this for decades and has many scars to show for not catching on to it soon enough. He’s the ultimate patriot, a guy who’s had it stuck up his ass before he caught on…and now he’s not willing to take it any more.

As far as the IRS goes, I ALWAYS file…..on time……..Don’t think Obamacare is going to fly in 2015(the new date). I don’t give it a second thought.

        • Hi Eight,

          Could be!

It’s hard to say this intelligently about a person you’ve never met, but I like Jesse. He seems like a mensch. A basically good dude; hale fellow, well met (and all that). If it’s an act, it’s a damn good one!

          • I’m not sure JEsse has the IQ to be acting… 😉
I like him too, but not so sure he’s got the necessary abilities – which is sort of the point.
If he’s not for sale –
            If he’s not acting –
If he’s not looking for power –

            He’ll never make it.

We get the sort of government we deserve, it’s a Parieto principle, if you will. No HONEST man wants power over others (as he also gets the responsibility, then). But a scumbag? HELL, YEAH, Gimme dat Power! And it’s YOUR FAULT that (X) didn’t work out, you didn’t give me enough taxes! (Etc.)

We need to send these people (Demons?) back to hell. Post-haste.

          • “The career of a politician mainly consists in making one part of the nation do what it does not want to do, in order to please and satisfy the other part of the nation. It is the prolonged sacrifice of the rights of some persons at the bidding and for the satisfaction of other persons. The ruling idea of the politician – stated rather bluntly – is that those who are opposed to him exist for the purpose of being made to serve his ends, if he can get power enough in his hands to force these ends upon them.”

eric, I believe Jesse has seen, to his everlasting chagrin, too many examples of the above quote to ever think he’s something he isn’t. Jesse is a “good old boy” because he chooses to be. When he shows up wearing some new, pointy cowboy boots and a Resistol hat with a disco feather in the band I’ll reconsider. Until then I’ll view him as the good old boy with a different accent from me…..yaalllll!!

    • What is government? What is politics?

Government/Politics is the conspiracy of the unproductive but organized – against the productive but unorganized.

      • produce, or organize?

the organizers and the producers are both productive. same as healthy cells & cancer cells are productive.

‘if you build it, they will come’. & if you don’t build it, others will, & ‘they will come’. eternal as the tides.

productive organizers & organized producers will always be with ye, but, more importantly, so will the color of law mechanism, secular or supernatural, that legalizes predation of the latter by the former. any exceptions to this are merely rule-proving.

the game of life, for most, is a board game. the map is real, the territory is unreal. it’s a milton bradley world & the players just live in it. contentedly, for the most part.

        proceed accordingly.

    • Dear RaH,

Currently minimum required is to file taxes and pay withholdings of 90% of your income. As for the difference? Molon labe. If your income meets the threshold, merely file the piece of paper. They charge 18% per year on the unpaid balance. If they want their interest? Molon labe.

Regarding Shared Responsibility Payments and Penalty for Not Meeting Your Responsibility.

      2014 $95 or 1% of income
      2015 $295 or 2% of income
      2016 $695 or 2.5% of income

I think the deadline to join Soviet Healthcare Party is December 1. As far as I can tell, you can’t even get estimates without divulging all your private financial, social, and medical data and agreeing to their terms of Soviet Slavery. You also can’t sign up without divulging all your private, financial, social, and medical data and agreeing that you are their Soviet Slave.

My intention at this point is not to get estimates or sign up for anything. Most likely signing the 2014 1040 tax return will mean agreeing to abide by the new Soviet Shared Responsibility system. For me it all comes down to how much they alter that form.

      – Don’t Rob Peter, Defer Paying Paul. If Paul Demands Payment, Let Him Molon Labe.

      • @Tor – An attorney that I know personally put it this way: You get into trouble for not filing, not for “honest mistakes”. Kinda like Hillary Clinton, who showed up to testify to Congress, but all all her answers were “I can’t recall”. I am adopting her as my IRS model.

        • You have to spell that out to people, and make clear what it means.

Your obligation is only to file an income tax return. There are two address choices. Make sure you mail it to the address that indicates there is no payment included with the return you are filing. Don’t go out of your way to pay them anything. Make them Molon Labe.

        • The IRS doesn’t allow ANY mistakes, including “honest” mistakes – the presumption of guilt is standard with them.
Unless you’re one of the “Protected” class – then the IRS doesn’t even check, let alone search every little nook and cranny including going up your @$$ with a camera the way they do for us…

(Disclosure: My dad ran his own business, and has been through audits – and even things like the state printing the SSNs on the forms resulted in penalties, when HE called THEM to notify them of the discrepancy. And he HAD to use their forms, couldn’t make new ones. So some aspects of my anti-government / anti-idiot stance run pretty deep, and from early on. Targeted for Audits sequential years – which is illegal. All honest work – that’s the odd thing.)
