More than half the nation’s governors — 27 states — say they oppose letting Syrian refugees into their states, although the final say on this contentious immigration issue will fall to the federal government.

States protesting the admission of refugees range from Alabama and Georgia, to Texas and Arizona, to Michigan and Illinois, to Maine and New Hampshire. Among these 27 states, all but one have Republican governors.

The announcements came after authorities revealed that at least one of the suspects believed to be involved in the Paris terrorist attacks entered Europe among the current wave of Syrian refugees. He had falsely identified himself as a Syrian named Ahmad al Muhammad and was allowed to enter Greece in early October.

Some leaders say they either oppose taking in any Syrian refugees being relocated as part of a national program or asked that they be particularly scrutinized as potential security threats.

Only 1,500 Syrian refugees have been accepted into the United States since 2011, but the Obama administration announced in September that 10,000 Syrians will be allowed entry next year.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations said Monday, “Defeating ISIS involves projecting American ideals to the world. Governors who reject those fleeing war and persecution abandon our ideals and instead project our fears to the world.”

Authority over admitting refugees to the country, though, rests with the federal government — not with the states — though individual states can make the acceptance process much more difficult, experts said.

American University law professor Stephen I. Vladeck put it this way: “Legally, states have no authority to do anything because the question of who should be allowed in this country is one that the Constitution commits to the federal government.” But Vladeck noted that without the state’s participation, the federal government would have a much more arduous task.

“So a state can’t say it is legally objecting, but it can refuse to cooperate, which makes thing much more difficult.”

Is shunning refugees the answer to terror?

Kevin Appleby, director of migration policy at the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, said one tactic states could use would be to cut their own funding in areas such as resettling refugees. The conference is the largest refugee resettlement organization in the country.

But “when push comes to shove, the federal government has both the plenary power and the power of the 1980 Refugee Act to place refugees anywhere in the country,” Appleby said.

More than 250,000 people have died since the violence broke out in Syria in 2011, and at least 11 million people in the country of 22 million have fled their homes. Syrians are now the world’s largest refugee population, according to the United Nations. Most are struggling to find safe haven in Europe.

In announcing that his state would not accept any Syrian refugees, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott tweeted Monday on his personal account, “I demand the U.S. act similarly,” he said. “Security comes first.”

In a letter to President Barack Obama, Abbott said “American humanitarian compassion could be exploited to expose Americans to similar deadly danger,” referring to Friday’s deadly attacks in Paris.

In a statement from Georgia’s governor, Republican Nathan Deal, he said Georgia will not accept Syrian refugees “until the federal government and Congress conducts a thorough review of current screening procedures and background checks.”

  1. In France, conspiracy theories are to be completely banned.
    http://www.voltairenet.org/article187030.html

What is a conspiracy theory, under French law?

“an ’alternative’ narrative that claims to significantly upset the knowledge we have of an event and therefore competes with the “version” which is commonly accepted, stigmatized by the conspirator as “official.”

Who are the criminal conspiracy theorists in France, or in outside agitator nations, especially the U.S.?

“It’s consists of members of a heterogeneous movement, heavily entangled with the Holocaust denial movement, and which combines admirers of Hugo Chavez and fans of Vladimir Putin.

An underworld that consist of former left-wing activists or extreme leftists, former “malcontents”, sovereignists, revolutionary nationalists, ultra-nationalists, nostalgists of the Third Reich, anti-vaccination activists, supporters of drawing straws, September 11th revisionists, anti-Zionists, Afrocentricists, survivalists, followers of “alternative medicine”, agents of influence of the Iranian regime, Bacharists, and Catholic or Islamic fundamentalists”.

What are the political ideas of “conspiracy theorists” according to the new legislation.

After these appetizers, the Fondation Jean-Jaurès comes to the heart of the debate, that of political ideas. It defines those of the “conspiracy theorists” thus:

What are the prohibited political ideas of these conspirators, according to the text of the law?

    Any rhetoric that includes “the erasure of any distinction in kind between liberal democracies and authoritarian regimes (deemed more “totalitarian” than the worst of totalitarianism)”;

    – “Any opposition to any anti-racist legislation under the pretext of defending “freedom of expression”;

    – “Any rejection of the relevance of the left-right divide, or saying the real divide is the one between” the system “(or” Empire “or the” oligarchy “) and those who resist it”;

    – “the idea that Zionism is a project of world domination.”

In 2008, Cass Sunstein, an adviser to President Barack Obama and husband of the US Ambassador to the UN, had written a similar note, with similar goals to what is now to be the text of a new French law.

Cass wrote not so long ago:

“We can easily imagine a series of possible answers to combat unfavorable and inciting narratives.
    – 1. The government can ban conspiracy theories.
    – 2. The government could impose some kind of tax, financial or otherwise, on those who disseminate such theories.
    – 3. The government could engage in a contrary discourse to discredit conspiracy theories.
    – 4. The government could initiate credible private parties to engage in a discourse against conspiracy theories.
    – 5. The government could engage in informal communication with third parties and encourage them. “

  2. The Council on American-Islamic Relations said Monday, “Defeating ISIS involves projecting American ideals to the world. Governors who reject those fleeing war and persecution abandon our ideals and instead project our fears to the world.”

Funny, THE terrorist group in the USA wants us to “project[…] American ideals to the world.” What’s THE problem they have with us? We’re “corrupting their values,” by “projecting American ideals to the world.”

We have an enemy who has sworn to destroy us.
We have an ethnic and religious background, with corresponding dress, coming from specific geographic locations, whose religious books tell them to kill the infidels (everyone not of the correct sect), to rape, murder, enslave; make war on the non-believers, unless it’s not advantageous; to use war as a means to convert, even when fleeing from war – the Faithful leave with the refugees, to spread the Word of Allah; when they are “oppressed” by the host country, because the host country doesn’t want to be Muslim – THEN they scream oppression, and are supposed to go to war because their God is being Oppressed!

GODDAMN IT, PEOPLE, do NOT open the borders to the enemy. This is the rough equivalent of importing Japanese spies to mainland USA during WW2, handing them a camera and a radio, and telling them to go have fun photographing the military bases.

CAIR needs to be eliminated. they are merely propaganda agents – who now control the past, via “vetting” our history books (MacMillan and McGraw-Hill come to mind.)
No bad mention of Islam allowed. No “Shores of Tripoli” or Crusades, I suppose.
And no tolerance from them to us – unless they’re in the minority. If they achieve dominance in numbers, we’ll be in a war zone. E.G., Saudi Arabia with the “Morality Police.” Removing makeup from a woman’s face – with razor blades. Cutting off a thief’s hand, even if he’s stealing food to survive.

Hell, check out the transformation of Iran and Iraq, from about the 70s to now. they’ve regressed to the stone age, and these animals wish us to share their misery…
    NO. MORE. TOLERANCE.

You don’t drink poison. Don’t nurse a pit viper back to health. Don’t carry the scorpion across the stream on your back.

  3. Complying with face covering ban in France : she takes off her niqab live!
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZAMx5yomJXg

    French ban on face covering

The French ban on face covering (Loi interdisant la dissimulation du visage dans l’espace public), is an act prohibiting concealment of the face in public spaces.

This act of parliament resulted in the ban on the wearing of face-covering headgear, including masks, helmets, balaclava, niqābs and other veils covering the face in public places, except under specified circumstances.

The ban also applies to the burqa, a full-body covering, if it covers the face. Consequently, full body costumes and Zentais (skin-tight garments covering entire body) were banned.

The key argument supporting this proposal is that face-coverings prevent the clear identification of a person, which is both a security risk, and a social hindrance within a society which relies on facial recognition and expression in communication. The key argument against the ban is that it encroaches on individual freedoms.

The law imposes a fine of up to €150, and/or participation in citizenship education, for those who violate the law.

The bill also penalizes, with a fine of €30,000 and one year in prison, anyone who forces (by violence, threats, or abuse of power) another to wear face coverings; these penalties may be doubled if the victim is under the age of 18.

As a result of the law, the only exceptions to a woman wearing a niqāb in public will be if she is travelling in a private car or worshiping in a religious place.

There are six million Muslims in France, fewer than 2,000 are thought to fully cover their faces with a veil.

The wearing of all conspicuous religious symbols in public schools was previously banned in 2004 by a different law, the French law on secularity and conspicuous religious symbols in schools.

This affected the wearing of Islamic veils and headscarves in schools, as well as turbans and other distinctive items of dress.

Soviet oppression or Religious oppression, you are free to choose from the official choices.

In Canada, you can get 10 years in prison for wearing a mask

After several high profile protests, the Canadian Parliament introduced Bill C-309, which bans the wearing of masks during a riot or other unlawful assembly. The bill became law on June 19, 2013. Those convicted of it face up to 10 years in prison.

  4. Muslims Stoning Christians in Dearborn, Michigan in 2012
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBaTVwIJH-E

During the June 2012 Arab International Festival held in Dearborn, Michigan, a group of Christian evangelists were pelted with stones, bottles, and debris by Muslim youths while deputies from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office stood idly by, allowing the criminal assault to take place.

Many of the Christians were bloodied by the attack. When Ruben Israel, the leader of the Christian group, asked the law enforcement officers present to step in and enforce the criminal law so that the Christians could exercise their right to freedom of speech, Israel was given the option of either leaving the festival or facing arrest.

Law enforcement officers were present and made the conscious choice to allow the Muslim mob to silence the Christian speakers through violence. Indeed, the video of the incident looks like something you would see in the Middle East, not in the United States.

While it is shocking to see video of Christians being stoned in the United States for criticizing Islam, it is not necessarily surprising that this incident occurred in Dearborn, Michigan, a city where the mayor and law enforcement have consistently violated Christians’ free speech rights in favor of appeasing a large Muslim population and where, in line with the Islamic legal dictates of sharia, the Christian Gospel is treated as criminally offensive speech, and violence ‘for the sake of Allah’ is reinforced by arresting or removing the Christians.

What you are witnessing on the video is the enforcement of sharia by a hostile mob and law enforcement aiding and abetting.

If the 1.7 billion Muslims mainly in the Petro-Dollar nations aren’t to be considered protected useful idiots by the US/UK/UN ruling triumvirate, then I don’t know who else could be.

Jewish people gave Christians most of their books for freeeee. Then they gave again to the Muslims. It’s all Jews in the New Testament except Paul(or is he a Jew?). No such thing as free lunch though, right?

The Koran mentions Jesus and all the prophets from the old testament. Once again, they’re just Jews, but “new and improved Jews.” (disclaimer, I’m no Rhode Scholar, might be playing loose with things a bit.)

  5. Just send them to Mexico where they will walk across the border.
    We have violent Mexicartels here.
We worry about a few thousand refugees, but not about a few million illegal immigrants?

    • Paris is in the minds of the populace. And I think it is a political move. Like you said, they could get in through either of our neighbors, plus, all it takes is one contiguous state to allow them in, then the opposition of the others doesn’t matter.
