Here is the latest reader question, along with my reply!

Jim asks: My dad has had a Honda CR-V for a couple years now, and I’ve driven it a few times and just love it. The interior space, handling, it’s a great vehicle. I have found I like this category of “crossover” instead of a 4-door or some full-blown SUV. What would you recommend other than a CR-V in this category, if anything? Thanks a lot!

My Reply: Lots of other people like the CR-V, too! It’s one of the most popular medium-small crossovers on the road, for all the reasons you list. It’s space-efficient (typical of Honda vehicles), versatile, reasonably priced, has an excellent reputation for reliability, low depreciation and is just a pleasant vehicle to knock around in.

Its main rival – and also very popular, for the same reasons, is the Toyota RAV4.

You might have a look at one of those, as well the Mazda CX-5, which is another similar (and similarly appealing) crossover in the same general class.

I think you’d be happy with any of these three!
