Tom writes: Your article the other day about the Glendale Sadists (here) is a perfect example of why we left “the land of the fee and the home of the slave,” never to return. Thank you so much for bringing this outrage to light.

My reply: I think it’s important to try, while it is still possible. It may be futile – a majority of Americans appear to be indifferent to the gradual (but noticeably accelerating) transformation of the United States into an overt authoritarian police state – but I wonder.
And it’s why I italicized “appear.”
We get a general impression, a lay of the land, from . . . the mainstream press. Even online, the narrative is tightly controlled by a few huge enterprises such that we may have the wrong impression about what a majority of Americans actually think.
As an example: Trump won – and his approval ratings are going up. If you viewed things from the mainstream media perspective you’d have thought Hillary was inevitable – as intended. And – currently – that the country loathes the Orange Man.
To be clear, I am not touting Trump; just using him – his success – to make the point that things may not be as they seem.
Regardless, I feel obliged to give it a go – if only because I am contumacious by nature!

Good on you, Tom! -For having the sense to flee this shit-hole of a country. I hope to be doing so too, in the very near future. It’s ludicrous to stay here while expecting to having any semblance of liberty or privacy. It’s not just the government that we are up against; it’s the people- who are getting the government they deserve; the government they choose, time and time again, because not only do the majority of Americans no longer care about liberty; they no longer even know what liberty is.
They think this is liberty- but the old adage applies: “None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free”.
