Reader Question: Protesting Dutch Farmers?

Here’s the latest reader question, along with my reply!

Mark asks: I don’t know if you heard, but Dutch farmers are protesting en masse about the new green policies that’ll make their lives difficult, if not impossible. They’ve taken to their tractors, jammed the highways, and are swarming the capital of Holland. I have a simple question: Why don’t we see something similar happening here? Why don’t our farmers jam the Interstates and swarm the state capitals and the national capitol in DC? Where are OUR yellow vests? I can’t believe that the Dutch and French have more guts than we do! Have we gone that soft?

My reply: Yes, I am aware of it. And I think the reason we haven’t seem similar here – yet – is because the “green” oppression isn’t – yet – as severe here as it is there. At the moment, we are merely being mulcted. They are being bankrupted. In France, the Yellow Vest protests arose because ordinary French citizens could no longer afford to drive to work. They faced ruin – for the sake of being “green.” This drove them into the streets.

I expect the same will happen here – especially if they succeed in removing the Orange Man and imposing the Green New Deal. If they do, it’s time to hoist the Jolly Roger, spit on our hands… and you know the rest.

  1. Hi Mark,

With extremely rare exceptions, Napolitano (gone), Stossel (gone) and Tucker (too popular to fire…yet), Faux news has always been on the dark side. Tucker does discuss topics others won’t touch, which is admirable, but his complete ignorance of libertarianism, coupled with his seeming obsession with taking jabs at us, is getting really tiresome. Plus his view of economics is mostly interchangeable with Sanders’ and Warren’s.

    Cheers,
    Jeremy
