2007 Dodge

2007 Dodge Caliber

A new compact crossover sedan, the Caliber replaces the Neon in Dodge's lineup as the automaker's entry-level model. Caliber is available in either front-wheel-drive or with all-wheel-drive and in base SE, SXT, sport-themed R/T and high-performance SRT-4 trim levels. The standard engine is a 1.8 liter, 148 horsepower four-cylinder engine; a larger, more powerful 2.0 liter, 158 horsepower available as a step-up option. R/T versions come with a 2.4 liter, 174 horsepower four-cylinder engine, sport-tuned suspension and other upgrades. The high-performance SRT-4 has a 300 horsepower, turbocharged 2.4 liter engine with a six-speed manual gearbox, limited slip axle and other performance upgrades. It is capable of reaching 60 mph in under six seconds and is one of the most powerful cars in its class. SE, SXT and R/T Calibers offer either a standard five-speed manual or CVT with AutoStick manual control (R/T models). All trims get side-curtain air bags, an inflatable knee blocker protection system for the driver, AM/FM single-disc CD stereo with auxiliary audio input jack, 15-inch wheels and rear wiper. Optionally available is a nine-speaker Boston Acoustics premium sound system with subwoofer that includes two articulating speakers packaged in the liftgate. When the liftgate is open, the speakers can swing down to face rearward for tailgating parties.

2007 Dodge Nitro

An all-new model for Dodge, the Nitro is a mid-sized, five-passenger, four-door SUV with aggressively macho styling cues. Standard features include a fold-flat, first-row passenger seat and second-row seats with a variety of loading options. The available load 'n go cargo floor slides 18 inches rearward to facilitate loading and unloading -- and holds up to 400 pounds. The '07 Nitro comes in SXT, SLT and high-performance R/T trim levels. The standard engine is a 210 horsepower, 3.7 liter V-6, with a 260 horsepower 4-liter V-6 the step-up option. The 3.7 liter engine comes standard with a six-speed manual transmission; a five-speed automatic is optional. Nitros with the 4.0 liter engine get a five-speed automatic. The Nitro can be ordered in rear-wheel-drive, full-time four-wheel-drive or part-time four-wheel-drive configurations. Air conditioning, traction control and Dodge's Electronic Roll Mitigation stability system are standard equipment. Wheel sizes range from 16 inches on the standard model to available 20-inch rims on the SLT and R/T. Optional equipment includes heated leather seats, MyGIG Multimedia Infotainment System with AM/FM stereo with CD/DVD/MP3 and full-screen touch screen DVD navigation system and Sirius satellite radio.

2007 Dodge Caravan

The Caravan and extended-wheelbase Grand Caravan minivans get two new exterior color offerings for 2007 -- Modern Blue Pearl Coat and Marine Blue Pearl Coat. It is otherwise unchanged from 2006, when the "Stow-And-Go" seating configuration became standard for extended-wheelbase versions; both second and third row seats that fold completely into the floor with this feature. A 2.4 liter,150-horsepower four-cylinder engine is standard in base SE models. The SXT standard wheelbase model gets a 170 horsepower, 3.3 liter V-6. SXT extended wheelbase trims get a 200-horsepower 3.8-liter V-6. All powertrains are mated to a four-speed AutoStick automatic transmission. Standard safety equipment includes dual stage driver and passenger air bags, a driver?s side inflatable knee bolster and belt-minder buzzer. Traction and stability control, as well as full-row curtain air bags and anti-locks brakes are available on higher trim models or as separate options. A power rear liftgate, rear back-up warning system, DVD navigation, rear-seat entertainment system with wireless headphones, premium Infinity Acoustic eight-speaker audio system, three-zone climate control, a removable center console, heated leather seats, Touring suspension package and trailer tow package with load-leveling and height control are among the many available options.

2007 Dodge Charger

The Charger sedan now offers a smaller, more fuel-efficient 2.7 liter, 190 horsepower V-6 on SE models (the 3.5 liter, 250 horsepower V-6 continues as standard equipment). Two additional models join the model lineup, too -- SXT and R/T with all-wheel drive (AWD). Other changes/upgrades for '07 include eight new exterior colors, a new decklid spoiler option and available 18-inch rims for SXT models, standard Sirius satellite radio for R/T models and new 20-inch chrome-plated wheels and 245/45ZR20 all-season performance tires for Chargers with the Daytona R/T package. The 5.7 liter Hemi V-8 remains the standard engine in the R/T, offering 340 horsepower and six-second 0-60 capability. AWD may now be ordered with the R/T and Hemi engine as well. All versions get air conditioning, traction and stability control with ABS and Brake Assist, as well as a tilt and telescoping steering column, AM/FM stereo with CD player and auxiliary iPod jack and remote keyless entry. The limited-production Daytona R/T variant continues with a 350-horsepower version of the 5.7 liter V-8, along with a stiffer suspension, unique styling cues, 3.5 inch exhaust tips and exclusive paint treatments. At the top of the food chain is the SRT8 version, which comes with a specially modified 6.1-liter HEMI V-8 that produces 425 horsepower -- enough to propel the five-passenger wagon from zero-to-60 mph in around five seconds. TorRed exterior paint is available on this model for 2007, as well as a new Super Bee Special Edition ? with Detonator Yellow finish. Options include a performance handling package, heated seats, a rear-seat DVD entertainment system and Bluetooth wireless connection system for cell phones.

2007 Dodge Dakota

Revised in '05, the mid-sized Dakota receives minor tweaks for 2007 -- including a newly standard dual position tailgate and new-for-'07 Brilliant Black and Electric Blue paint. The optional 4.7 liter V-8 offers E85/flex-fuel capability, the standard 3.7 liter V-6 gets drive-by-wire throttle control, 18-inch wheels are optional on SLT and Laramie models, turn signals get automatic "three blink" function and a new chrome accent package is available for the SLT and Laramie models. It adds chrome tubular side steps, fuel filler door, hood deflector and exhaust tip. The Dakota comes in rear- and four-wheel-drive models and offers a choice of two-door, five-passenger Club Cab with six-foot, six-inch bed and four-door, six-passenger Quad Cab versions with a shorter, five-foot, three-inch bed. The base engine remains a 3.7-liter V-6 that generates 210 horsepower and 235 lb-ft of torque. The optional 4.7-liter Magnum V-8 generates 230 horsepower. A five-speed manual transmission is standard across the line, while a choice of four- and five-speed automatic gearboxes is also available. The five-speed automatic includes a unique dual-ratio second gear for better power management in towing, passing, and grade-change situations. Max tow rating is 7,150 pounds.

2007 Dodge Durango

The Durango SUV gets restyled for 2007, with updated front and rear end treatments, new-design rearview mirrors, body-side moldings and updated interior with optional quad bucket seats (rear seats are heated when heated front seats are ordered) available on SLT and Limited models, standard 115-volt power inverter on models equipped with rear air conditioning, a new electronic vehicle information center for the overhead console, E85/flex-fuel capability for the optional 4.7 liter, 235 horsepower V-8, standard tire pressure monitor and newly available 20-inch wheels for both SLT and Limited trim levels. Side-impact air bags are now standard and Ultrasonic rear park assist is standard on Limited and optionally available on SLT. The standard engine remains the 210-horsepower, 3.7 liter V-6. The 5.7 liter Hemi V-8 returns as the Durango's top power plant, offering 330 horsepower and 375 lb.-ft. of torque. The Hemi engine is mated to a five-speed automatic transmission and is available on the 2007 Dodge Durango SLT, Adventurer and Limited models. Durango offers third row seating, 102.4 cubic feet of cargo volume and a max tow rating is 8,950 pounds.

2007 Dodge Magnum/SRT-8

Sharing platforms and powertrains with the Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger sedans, the Magnum wagon strikes an inimitable pose with its wide track and sharply tapered roofline. For 2007, Magnums equipped with the optional 5.7 liter Hemi V-8 can be upgraded with a Road/Track Performance Group that includes performance-tuned suspension, braking and steering, 20-inch chrome-clad wheels and 245/45ZR20 all-season performance tires. R/T models also get standard Sirius satellite radio and all trims get an automatic oil change alert system and sunscreen privacy glass. Eight new colors are available, too -- including TorRed. Base SE (and rear-wheel-drive-only) Magnums have a 2.7 liter V-6 rated at 190 horsepower; next up is a 3.5 liter V-6 and 250 horsepower -- available in the mid-level STX and with or without all-wheel-drive. Both V-6 engines come with four-speed automatic transmissions. The 5.7 liter Hemi V-8 offers 340 horsepower in R/T models and comes with a five-speed automatic and Multi-displacement cylinder deactivation technology to improve fuel efficiency. AWD is available with the V-8 and also gets you 19-inch wheels. Last year, an SRT-8 version of the Magnum became available with a 6.1 liter V-8 and 425 horsepower. It carries over into 2007 unchanged and comes with 20-inch rims, sport-tuned suspension and other chassis and trim/appearance upgrades. A back seat DVD entertainment system with Kicker Mobile Surround Sound is available SRT-8 models for 2007.

2007 Dodge Ram

Dodge's boldly styled, full-size pickup line is updated for 2007 with standard stain resistant/odor resistant, anti-static seat fabric incorporated into vehicles with cloth seats, E85/flex-fuel capability is now offered with the 4.7 liter V-8, and stability control has been added to the options list, in addition to remote start and new-design one-touch, three-blink turn signals. The Ram comes in light-duty 1500, and heavy-duty 2500 and 3500 versions, with a choice of regular and four-door Quad Cab body styles and ST, SLT, Laramie and Sport trim lines. A four-door Mega Cab models boast the largest pickup passenger compartments available in the market. At 111 inches long, the Mega Cab offers plenty of room to seat six adult passengers and includes the first reclining rear seats available in a pickup. There's also about 7.6 cubic feet of covered storage behind the rear seats and a 24.9 square-foot flat load floor; the rear seats also split-fold and move forward for added cargo flexibility. Light-duty Rams come standard with a 215-horsepower 3.7-liter V-6 engine and can be alternatively fitted with a 4.7-liter V-8 that produces 235 horses and 300 lb-ft of torque. Heavy-duty models offer a choice of a 345 horsepower 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 gasoline engine or a 5.9-liter Cummins turbodiesel V-8 that provides 460 lbs.-ft of torque. A Multi-Displacement System that shuts down half the cylinders when conditions warrant to save fuel is standard with the 5.7 liter Hemi engine. A TRX4 Off-Road model features 17-inch wheels and off-road tires, painted monotube shocks, tow hooks, skid plates and a limited-slip differential. A high-performance Ram SRT-10 edition offers a 500-horsepower version of the 8.3-liter V-10 engine that's also found in the Viper supercar. Power adjustable pedals, a navigation system, and DVD entertainment array are among the available options.

2007 Dodge Sprinter

While most Dodge Sprinters are sold as commercial vehicles (it is also sold in the U.S. by Freightliner), this tall-design van, built in Europe by Mercedes-Benz, is also available in passenger versions. It rides on a choice of three wheelbases and offers two roof heights. A 64-inch stature is standard while a 73-inch roof - tall enough for six-footers to stand erect - comes with the high-roof model. The Sprinter is powered by a fuel-efficient 154-horsepower in-line-five-cylinder turbodiesel engine and offers seating for as many as 10 passengers. An Electronic Stability Program is included on 2500 and 3500 models. Air conditioning and a cassette stereo come standard, as do up to 12 cupholders. Most options are aimed at heavy-duty fleet-type use, though a CD player, rear heater, and a manual-tilting sunroof are offered. No information on changes or updates to the Sprinter for 2007 was available at the time of this writing.

Viper SRT-10

At the time of this writing there was no word on any changes or updates to Dodge's V-10 supercar. Last year, Viper got a new fixed-roof coupe companion with a sloping "double bubble" shaped roofline. The Viper coupe shares only its front fascia and signature crosshairs grille, scooped front fenders, hood, and doors with the convertible. Unique rear-end styling features wrap-around tail lamps, along with a special windshield surround, door side glass, rear fascia, and quarter panels. Both versions come powered by an 8.3-liter V-10 engine that generates 500-horsepower and 525 lb-ft of torque, channeled to the rear wheels via a six-speed-manual transmission. Zero-to-60 times clock in at less than four seconds. A race-ready suspension along with four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes and an anti-slip differential are standard.
