It is almost 70 degrees today and nice - so I went to the shop and left my ZRX to get a new set of "dual compound" Michelin Pilots, plus new sprockets and chain... was able to get an appointment with no wait, too!

Can't wait to try these tires out; word is they are the ticket... ;D

The whole deal's about $500... I'll get my receipt and break down the cost of the tires. These are the new Pilots that have the harder compound on the top part that tends to wear faster than the sides on a street bike; they're supposed to wear more evenly and thus last longer... if I get a full year out of them instead of just one season I will be happy and consider it money well spent!

Hi Eric, are those prices before or after adding on taxes? Just wondered as they look a bit cheaper than ours.

Ken.

One nice thing about the US is no VAT!

Total sales tax on everything - the tires and the sprockets and 5 quarts of Synthetic oil I bought in addition - came to $17.55!

Taking (roughly) two dollars to the pound, at around $315, that works out at approximately, 157.50. Looks as though you get them a bit cheaper than we do. I've just checked on a UK tyre dealer site and they are quoting 193 ($386) per pair loose and 230 ($460) fitted on a Ride In/Ride Out basis.

Rider reviews at Review Centre give them 10/10 for Handling, 8.4/10 for Value, Avge Reviewer Rating 9.7/10 and Overall 9.8/10. Seems good to me.
