I just drove from Fort Lauderdale to New Orleans. It takes ~15 hours, with 3 stops for gas, more stops for coffee, for getting rid of the coffee, and a catnap or two. Lots of time to think.
For parts of that trip, I'd be okay with linking up and letting someone else, or a computer, drive the car.

Unfortunately (in my opinion - based on the facts of ever-increasing population and ever-more-congested roads) it is inevitable.

I'm always torn on this subject
I see the benefits. I understand WHY driverless cars are a good idea...
but I guess I'm just stubborn and set in my ways, 'cause dammit I LIKE driving!
My hope is, there will be special "automated" lanes (like HOV around here) that you can only get onto/use in one of these.

I, too, like driving - but the massive growth in population (20 million in the past decade alone!) and congested roads is making it more of a chore than a joy. When I was in NoVa, for example, it got to the point that it didn't much matter whether I had a Corvette or a minivan; as soon as you left the neighborhood, you were stuck staring at the bumper of the slow-mo' ahead of you. You might get 50 yards or so of room every once in awhile - but mostly, it was just an exercise in futility....
PS - Had the old Kz out yesterday (warm weather); the sweet spot is around 90 mph... and it's free and clear running all the way to the horizon!
