A lot of the stuff I use gets RTV as the covers are beat up. Being an RV, not Jimmy Joe's beater that he drank a lot of beer while he was working on it, your covers should be straight. If the surfaces are clean and straight, it ought to seal pretty well.
One tip I'll pass on for future use, in tight areas or heavy parts like an intake manifold, I'll get some all thread rod the same thread as the bolts. Then I'll make some short studs to lower the cover or intake on and slide straight down. This keeps the parts from moving around while you install the rest of the bolts. Just thread them in a little with your fingers and when the rest of the bolts are in, swap bolts for the studs and you'll have a nice clean installation.
