I would have turned Dr. Robinson into his own personal orbital vehicle for the trouble he cause the rest of the crew.
Day 1: Dr. Robinson causes us to go off course and leave the known galaxy.
Day 2: Dr. Robinson is becoming more and more annoying with his constant scheming and whining.
Day 3: Dr. Robinson is no longer on board the Jupiter 2 -- the crew decided that he could make it home on his own.

Been too long since I've (thankfully) seen that show.
The remake they did a few years ago was truly awful -- lots of special effects, no real purpose.
