Chimp attack on Iran - and $10 per gallon gas

We appear to be inching ever closer to a military conflict with Iran; the country appears determined to defend itself (including with nuclear weapons, just as Israel does) while we (and Israel) appear just as determined to prevent Iran from being in a position to defend itself in the way that we insist is the "right" of the US and of Israel (but no one else).

The Israelis appear to be worried that once The Chimp is gone (and with a more moderate Obama as president) it will be harder to go after the Iranians "pre-emptively" - which means more pressure to get The Chimp to pull the trigger before the end of the year. Or, failing that, maybe the Israelis will do it themselves. However, the word is that the Israelis lack the overwhelming force (excluding their nukes) to do the job - which means they may resort to nukes for just that reason.

    The consequences will be surreal.

Imagine the result of a nuclear detonation in any area of the Middle East; imagine the economic result of $200 ($400?) per barrel oil... .

It may happen soon, unless the war drums can be silenced and cooler heads prevail.... .

Well, Mr. Bush, his own good se'f, is a tad on the surreal side.

In any case, I don't think this will happen - the Iranian rocket "tests" were nothing more than a response to the earlier Israeli maneuvering.

    Let's hope so.

However, I put nothing - literally - beyond either The Chimp or the Israelis.
