    Wonderful memories!

And hey, did you catch the part in the '70 ad about "seating four comfortably"?

    Ha!

That's the truth. I saw an episode of the Rockford Files where Becker and his wife were in the back of Jims Firebird. That must have been one of the most uncomfortable rides ever. I'd be asking for hazard pay.

Got to remember those cars were not built for comfort, they were built for get up and go. Most small or go fast cars, no matter who built them all were uncomfortable in the back seat, moving or not. Seeing these reminds me that I do have a 16mm film about 20 or so minutes long on all the new Pontiac's for 1970. Might be e-baying it soon. 8)

It is virtually impossible for a person my size to even get into the back seat of a '70s-era Firebird. I own one (and have owned several). Pete has, too.

However, I will say this: At least there is a bit of leg room if you can get in. On many "two-plus two" coupes today, there is, literally, no back seat legroom at all unless the driver/front seat passenger scrunch up their seats to the point that the car is undriveable.

    J.Zimm,

Eric is right the back seat is not comfortable for adults, however the front seats are very roomy.

    Henry,

LOL. I remember Jim was stuck back there during one episode in the first season where he get's taken hostage in his own car. Jim Rockford is 6'2" and he did not look too comfortable being stuck back there.
