    Eric - it was 1958.

    But it sure looks wonderful, compared to today.

    I can remember flying in the '70s - it was still both enjoyable and even a bit exotic. Nothing like the cattle car Third World Experience it is today....

    OK, one 'improvement' they've made in air travel that I really like: They banned smoking on the planes.

    Perhaps you also recall the expense of your flight in the 70s? As fare costs dropped travel increased, so the airplane of today is akin to the Greyhound bus of back then.

    Here, at London Croydon Airport, one of our latest airliners is being readied for a long distance flight all the way to Paris, France, a distance of over one hundred miles. Ah, the joys of modern, luxury, air travel bringing the European continent to within a days travel from our shores.
