Sarah Palin and the Founding Fathers

In a questionnaire sent out to Alaskan gubernatorial candidates back in 2006 by the Alaskan Daily News, Ms. Palin's responses were straight-forward, to the point and lacking in any knowledge of our country's history.

One of her responses was to the question of whether the phrase "under God" should remain in 'The Pledge of Allegiance'. She answered without hesitation...she didn't even "blink"....stating that if "under God" was good enough for the founding fathers...it was good enough for her.

I guess Ms. Palin wasn't aware of the fact the "under God" wasn't added to the Pledge (which wasn't written until 1892) until 1954!

Maybe she thought it had been around as long as Earth....ummm...4000 years, right?

    Thought you'd enjoy!

I am no big fan of Barack, but at this point he's infinitely preferable to the prospect of another marginally educated, half-bright religious ideologue who shares the Chimponian lust for empire and war and police state tactics one tired old man away from the presidency.... .

These people are so fact-challenged and intellectually dishonest it's almost impossible to believe it's possible - especially since we're talking about millions of people who seem utterly oblivious to facts and who continue to beeeelieve (often belligerently) in a sort of counterfactual reality as fed to them by their leaders. This business with the so-called "Bridge to Nowhere" is a perfect example. Palin continues to claim she opposed it when it's beyond factual dispute that she supported it. Aggressively. But her supporters (people like Gail) just parrot the party line that she "fought" it.They also don't seem to care that she lied about visiting Iraq (and Ireland) or that she has been shown to have abused her office by appointing several of her high school friends (who lacked anything on their resume to justify it beyond being Friends of Palin) to big-money state offices... etc. etc. etc.

Another example is the white headed cockroach's claim to be opposed to privatizing Social Security. Well, video evidence proves that's false - but the clapping seals out there don't let it affect their view of the "straight talk express." Dito his BS about Iraq - going back to thevery beginning when he parroted the Chimponian BS, including that the war would be short and easily won.

I know politicians have always shaded the truth - but we have arrived at a point where egregious, bald-faced outright lies are told without compunction, shame - or, apparently, consequences.

The only thing that seems to matter to these people is that Palin shares their fundie Christian beliefs and so they see her as a fellow traveler and will do anything to get her in, so that she can help erect a "bible-based" government. They are surely praying for the white headed cockroach to either croak shortly after his election, or to not make it through a second. And worst case, Palin emerges as the default GOP presidential candidate in eight years regardless....

No reply from Gail, of course - because she also believes the Pledge is some icon of the Founding rather than the product of a socialist who came up with it as a means of propagandizing the populace with state-worship.

You are right. Until a couple of years ago I didn't even know that 'under God' had been added. But the lack of information or a mistake there of does not make a bad person. I forget and/or confuse knowledge that I know that I know all the time -- and guess what, buddy? so do you! None of us are brain surgeons, or rocket scientists -- ooops! Did we forget that class? I'll bet I know more about child-rearing than you'll ever learn, did my lack of knowledge in political matters stop me from traipsing up to Washington, DC to get the repeal of NMSL? NO! Did my lack of knowledge of real estate prevent me from getting a prime location right on The Hill at a ridiculously low rent? Once again - NO! Did my Polio condition slow me down one bit? NO, but if I had understood the condition, it would have.

Com' on, you guys are flabbergasting me! I can no longer stand it. I can't decide whether I want to cry or laugh at the preposterous nitpicking going on about this fine woman. I see myself in her, I see the same tenacity in her that I had, I see her being 100 times more than I was, with more training and experience than I had. The good old boys have fail, and Lord help if the nannies get to be in charge, it is time for Sarahcuda to straighten out the government.

"But the lack of information or a mistake there of does not make a bad person."

Did I ever say it did? Notice the lack of precision in your "reasoning" (such as it is). You impute things that weren't said - and argue by changing the subject....

"I forget and/or confuse knowledge that I know that I know all the time..."

    Er, what was that?

"I'll bet I know more about child-rearing than you'll ever learn..."

No doubt. I hope to never have to deal with a screeching brat!

"... did my lack of knowledge in political matters stop me from traipsing up to Washington, DC to get the repeal of NMSL? NO! Did my lack of knowledge of real estate prevent me from getting a prime location right on The Hill at a ridiculously low rent? Once again - NO! Did my Polio condition slow me down one bit? NO, but if I had understood the condition, it would have."

All of which says nothing about the validity of your beliefs on the subject we've been discussing.

" I can't decide whether I want to cry or laugh at the preposterous nitpicking going on about this fine woman."

It isn't nitpicking to point out serial lying. And serial liars, by definition, are not "fine" people.

" it is time for Sarahcuda to straighten out the government."

What a sad, authority-worshipping, Kool Aid guzzling dupe you've become....
