Well, bear in mind that Alexander Cockburn once (maybe still does) wrote for The Nation.

Which doesn't necessarily invalidate his attack on McSame in any way!Originally Posted by jdm

He'd have never gotten into Annapolis (and barely made it out). He crashed several planes before being shot down - and (correct me if I misinformed) but had his last name not been McSame and his father not an active admiral at the time, he'd have been washed out as a pilot long before he ever had a chance to be shot down.
But even if none of this were the case; even if he had been the greatest ace who ever lived and a man of astonishing courage, it doesn't mean he's fit to be president. Physical courage and moral courage are not inextricably bound together; Hitler, for example, was an exceptionally brave front line soldier. Yet we know what sort of human being he was. And the fact that one is brave doesn't mean one is necessarily smart, either.
Etc.
McCain is lame - just like the GOP.
Both need to be retired....
I once was given a subscription to The Nation and it seemed to me that the only way a fact ever found its way into that fish wrap was through editorial neglect.
Bit of info: Cockburn pronounces his name KO-burn.
