    Garage cleaning

These guys will do it for free!

    http://www.freegaragecleaning.com/index2.php

What they do is come out, do an assessment to identify stuff that shouldn't go, and then show up with a truck and take all the rest at no charge.

They'll take your stuff back to their warehouse for sorting -- they'll pull out anything that's potentially recyclable (paper, carboard, plastic, and metal). The rest they put up for sale on eBay and Craigslist.

Pretty cool idea. Wish I'd thought of it.

    Pah.

Everything in my garage is priceless including the cans and bottles of touch up paint which have not matched anything I own in 20 years.

I must agree with John. Everything in my garage that is dusty is either an artifact or a heirloom.

I see lots of older/not-so-informed people getting the short end of the stick.

That old junk over there? Oh, it's hardly worth anything - we'll take it and get it out of your way...

Next day, the rare and valuable air cleaner assembly for a '69 Z-28 shows up on eBay for $1,500.

    Execellent, thank you.

I shall make some labels reading Artifacts and Heirlooms and post them this afternoon.

I know a guy that has been living off doing this sort of thing for over 20 years. He owns a huge house and a shet load of property. He is doing very well for himself. Like Eric said.. watch out!

I think the thing that makes this business work so well is the availability of internet auction/sale sites. Before, dom's guy would have to set up a brick & mortar store to sell the items worth selling. Now they can do it out of a non-descript industrial building with low rent & expenses

Yeah, at first my guy was doing the "brick and mortar" deal (had a store on skyline drive in Virginia) for the first half, the past 10 years he has been selling all the stuff on ebay.

    Edit:

Matter of fact I just found his site:
