Smile Best bang for buck shotgun?

Aight, I am in the market for another G-unit.

What do you guys think is the best shotgun for the money.

    Must have:

    1. two barrels (side by side)
    2. pump action
    3. around $500
    4. able to hold a lot of rounds

Do you want this for sporting or home defense purposes?

If the latter, the Mossberg Persuader (seriously!) might fill the bill. Combat style (no choke) 12 gauge pump action with high-capacity magazine and optional pistol grips. It's a mean SOB.... and it's around $300 last time I checked.

I don't sport shoot. All my weapons are for home defense.

    Checking out the Persuader now.

A side-by-side (a double, sometimes called a coach gun) does not have a pump action.

But yes, the Mossberg Defender 500 is an excellent buy.

You should be aware that California has odd & restrictive laws on firearm possession. Firearms manufacturers have to pay extra money (a LOT of extra money) to get their guns 'certified' for the California market plus send in ~20 samples for the CA firearms bureaucrats to hold onto.

Depending on how you feel about the California criminal justice system, you might be better off buying in Nevada -- more selection and cheaper. Note that this only applies for long guns, as they're adjacent states. Does not apply to pistols (I'm assuming you're an official resident of California)

I also seem to recall you live in San Francisco? I think they have an even more restrictive set of laws (outright ban, I'm thinking). If you want to defend yourself & you live in SF -- move somewhere else.

Aight, I am calling around tomorrow to locate one to touch and hold. That is one bad ass looking weapon.

I didn't know double barrels didn't have pump action, but now that I think about it, it make perfect sense.

Dude, things are not going to get better in America for a long time. It's my duty to get geared up.

    I agree.

Whatever extra money I have is being spent on tangible, useful assets - land, ammunition/supplies/equipment. No more IRA/401k "ownership society" BS for me. That stuff is going to be completely worthless soon; better to get what I can out of it and make some use of it.

We are both very lucky, though, in the most important way: We don't live in an urban/suburban area. Those people are doomed. We have a shot, at least.

Right! Dude, I called today and that gun is $360 or so. I am going down there this week to check it out in person. I called around too, I have a buddy with one and he likes it.

I am almost sold on it. Just need to touch it now.

    Oh on the 401K bit..

I have been putting 10% of my salary into my 401k.

Every two weeks it has been going down by $75.

What I mean is, say I have $100 in there then I add $10 every month (or $5 a week).

Well I would think it should go up at least by the amount I add, but that is not the case.

When I am expecting to see $105, I am actually seeing $92.50. It's a mess.

I remember as a kid, about 8 or 9, my grandfather had a rule that if you were big enough, you were old enough. One day he had his double barreled 10 gauge out and I asked if I could shoot it. Grampa never asked question, he would look at you and decide if you wanted to try something.

I was barely able to hold it up because of my short arms and the long barrels. Being the head strong child I was, I managed to pull both triggers at once and I had the stock about 6 inches from my shoulder. Bad move. I clearly remember laying on the ground looking up at the clouds and grampa leaned over and said "I'll bet you won't do that again!".
    Honk if you love Jesus.

Text if you want to meet him.
