I have a buddy on another forum looking for some cycle gas tank cleaner.

Has anyone ever used KBS Cycle Tank Sealer Kit?

Inside of the tank is nasty, outside is straight.

If this stuff is the same as Kreme (sp?) it works great. I have used these products on old bike tanks many times. The stuff looks like skim milk; you wash it around the inside of the tank and it coats/seals the metal so that rust doesn't flake off into the fuel (and inhibits new rust from forming). It's a great way to seal/save an old tank....

A small tip, if the inside of the tank is a bit rusty (and there is no commercial cleaning facility nearby) clean it out by putting a couple of handsful of small glass marbles (or something similar) in the tank and give it a prolonged shaking to remove all the loose bits of rust. Then thoroughly, very thoroughly, clean out and dry the tank, and then apply the treatment. Ideally the inside of the tank could be commercially
bead blasted, it is vital to clean out all residue after the process.

Put a cup of buckshot in the tank and cap it. Pack it tightly in towels inside your clothes dryer and let it run for a while. That will clean the inside of the tank.

I have had problems with Kreem coming loose and becoming a blob in the tank.

That is a new one for me!

Have you done this yourself? Assuming the towels protect the tank from being banged up, I wonder about the consequences for the dryer. A big, lumpy (and fairly heavy) bundle might send it to an early grave...

As long as the tank is well padded and in the center of the dryer all is well. Of course you twist the heat to the lowest setting.
