Councilman Jailed Speaking Against Red Light Cameras

"Councilman Paul Ford was arrested for confronting Duncanville Mayor David Green over the city's use of red light cameras. Ford ended up hospitalized from injuries sustained during the arrest."

Listen to his interview where he describes his ordeal fighting against red light cameras in his town:

    What was he charged with?

In other news, I hear the Energizer Bunny was arrested! It was charged with battery.

Over here, from examples already on record, it would come under the Anti-terrorism Act I guess.

Actually in Texas there is no law, so when he goes to court he should be aquitted.

However Ken is correct there are "hate speech" laws in places like England where any expression of speech not approved by the "government" is illegal. So sad to see that happen in England which is the home to the Magna Carta the seeds of our 1st Amendment here in the US.

In the USA, they have to say what you're arrested for, which will have a penal code number. How can one be arrested when there is no law or number covering what was done?

You are correct that is the police policy in most juristictions. However some police departments don't play by the rules.

Have you ever seen the movie (the original version) - "Walking Tall"?

    http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0070895/

It's a true story of Buford Pusser who ran for Sheriff since he was tired of his local police department's corruption and his ordeal and personal cost of trying to clean up the corruption. Corrupt police departments don't play by the rules.
