Does the inside of his trunk look like this?
He went and test-drove the V6 Challenger today.
The problem is, he has no garage space for it, the parking lot at work has narrow spaces, and he works at a retail establishment, so there's lots of opportunities for door dings as customers come & go.
More 'cons:' are that the Dodge dealer closest to him is arrogant (and likely to get worse), and the next-closest one (where we were today) is on the Chrysler dealership closing list.
But he really likes the look of it.

I just wish the country - or most of it - would realize that. Unfortunately, about half (Democrats) think state socialism is the answer; another 35 percent (Republicans), corporate fascism. The remainder (Libertarian/nationalist "old school conservatives") get it - but we're in the gunsights of both groups. The Democrats hate us because we're not looking to be led - and aren't interested in leeching off others or in identity group politics. The Republicans hate us because we're wise to their freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee market bullshit on the economic front - and loathe their idiot "born again" religiosity.
My sense of it is that if workers feel resentful toward their employer (legitimately resentful; I make the distinction between that and and the handful of scheisskopfs who are perpetually aggrieved/entitlement minded) then they will not put out their best effort. Just like slavery or serfdom. It's not especially efficient.
The system works best when everyone gets a reasonably square deal. I doubt most assembly line workers, for example, would mind if the CEO gets $5 million annually, if the company is doing well and they are being paid a reasonable wage for the work they do, etc.
We aren't going to get a square deal. Here is a direct quote from Obama's speech on June 1st:
Obama also addressed workers at plants and dealerships who will lose their jobs as part of the restructuring, warning that "more jobs would be lost", and adding they were "making a sacrifice for the next generation." It's "a sacrifice you many not have chose to make, but a sacrifice your are nevertheless called to make so that your children and all of our children can grow up in an Americal that still makes things, that still build cars, that still strives for a better future".
What a joke - strive for a better future - not the people who are getting laid off - not the guy's over 40. Atleast Joe Stalin shot them and put them out of their misery. These people will just go bankrupt, lose their homes, get divorced, etc.
I think we are seeing the end to the middle class, and upward mobility for most Americans.
"I think we are seeing the end to the middle class, and upward mobility for most Americans."
No question.
And, not to be too kooky about it, I believe it is deliberate policy.
The elites who want to control the world understand that a prosperous, independent, well-educated middle class is the major obstacle in the way of their agenda.
What is happening is too systematic, too "always in one direction" to be a coincidence or an accident.
I wonder what was going through the minds of most of the workers who were forced to sit and listen to that two-bit, double-dealing, larcenist, tin-pot, smooth talking demagogue dictator flap his jive-taking jaws. What a joke. With democrat and republican policies in place, the only thing that we will be doing is building bomb shelters, certainly not cars. Those will be outlawed by the time King Obama is coronated for the second time. I would have certainly yelled out a few things during his speech.

Funny you mention the French. I like the French. I never understood American's problem with them. After all, they helped the US in the Revolutionary War. Although they did it for the wrong reasons, I appreciate that.
Americans have been docile for quite a while. I saw that 35 years ago when we passively accepted and kept the 55 mph speed limit for nearly 25 years. 61 percent of the public was in favor of NAFTA back in the early 90s. People of means refused to even attempt to buy American and keep some jobs here. They couldn't see that eventually freeeeeee trade would bite them in the ass.
Back to speaking out, I have a feeling it is because our police (not to mention the secret "service") are a bunch of jack-booted street thugs. I would love for them to arrest me for speaking up. Make it a charge, and I'll jam it down their throat!

It's already here!
I am a 60 yr old self employed software developer, I install my software locally (in the greater Minneapolis area). I come in contact with a lot of 'office' people between the ages of 25 - 40.
Many of the people have some sort of degree (past high school). IMO most of them are incompentent. They can't / won't / refuse to think for themselves. They have no opinions, and seem to be quite content to be stuck in cubicles. Passive.
What's more amazing is that they have degrees or certificates, but appear to have no education, or critical thought.
They are ready for Obama Care, Obama Mobiles, Green anything.
I agree about the French. They are generally educated, cultured people - much more so than the average American yahoo. Yes, they are cynical - but I admire that. None of the absurd, puffed up self-righteous exceptionalism (and accompanying hypocrisy) that is so nauseatingly commonplace among Americans.
As a 60 yr old American I must say that our country has turned into a semi-police state with a law against everything. Somehow 'equal rights' has been turned around to 'equal treatment'. We can treat everyone like shit, because it's "Equal treatment". It's pretty obvious that our government will spend any amount of money on a police chase, risk lives, in order to catch a car thief or shoplifter.
I hope you haven't had to deal with the IRS. This is an organization that will terrorize / threaten you for submitting a form with the wrong date on it. They are mind numbed robots that eforce an IRS code which is 66,000 pages long.
The outsourcing and free trade is an example of the greed. You could also toss in the phrase 'you gotta be competitive'.
This country has gone to hell. IMO it's gonna take a problem of biblical proportions to wake up the masses.
