    An interesting quote about jobs

For as soon as labor is distributed each man has a particular and exclusive sphere form which he cannot escape. He is a hunter, fisherman, a shepherd, or a critical critic, and must remain so if he does not want to lose his means of livelihood; while in a communist society, where nobody has one exclusive sphere of activity, but each can become accomplished in any branch he wishes, society regulates the general production and thus makes it possible for one to do one thing today and another tomorrow to hunt in the morning, to fish in the evening, to criticize after dinner just as I have in mind, without ever becoming hunter, fisherman, shepherd, or critic. Karl Marx
While I disagree with communist philosphers, I found this quote interesting.

As Eric's byline for this section

transformation of the country into a corporatist-socialist authoritarian gulag.

This is exactly what I have experienced for 9 months of unemployment. The corporations control the employees by making the jobs so narrow, so specific in experience, they do not consider intelligence, track record, or education, or life experiences. They effectively lock the person into the job.

Yes - and once you're over 40, you're "old" compared with the 20-somethings, who are favored in hiring because they are happy with lower pay/no benefits, are more malleable and accepting of the suffocating and demeaning modern workplace outrages that are now commonplace, cost leass, heath insurance wise, etc. etc.
