Ice storm here flummoxes Land Rover LR4

We got hit with another ice storm last night and the road is a sheet of slickness. Intrepid fool that I am, I decided to try to gimp the 2010 LR4 they just dropped off for me down to the store. About 200 yards out, the LR4 crabbing sideways pretty severely, I decided to be smart - turn the beast around and forget it for a few hours, at least (until the temp rises and some of this crap melts).

Much as I like to throw things in the woods, I didn't want that to happen to the LR4!

Dude, I drove home in the shit last night.

    Nothing like iced mountain roads.

    Requires a super-human attention span.

By the time I get home I'm mentally fried. HA

    No doubt!

I ate some pancakes, took a nap - and am having a cup of coffee to get ready before I try it again... though I'm talking my truck 'sted of the LR4. If I run it off the road, no big deal. Won't hurt nothin' - might put a few (new) dents in it, though... but it's my truck, so if that happens, it's my problem. I'm not taking a chance on the LR4 and having to tell Land Rover I threw their $60,000 SUV in the woods!

Yeah, I don't think they want that vehicle returned with that slogan.

The ice really is not much of a problem, it's the other people on the road that scare me.

I love the hills that require a great running start to make it up, absolutely awesome fun.

No crap about this, my Saturn is the ultimate snow car hands down!

Things seems to be melting a bit today, but there is still a nice sheet of ice on the roads.

I have Blizzacks on all four corners of an AWD vehicle (my XC90). Nothing helps on ice - unless they are studed - which is not allowed. I don't care what kind of compound, sipes, etc - nothing works on ice.

As I told my daughter - it's not about how fast you can go - it's about how quickly you can stop!

Yeah, driving on ice is much like docking a boat.

Never approach the dock faster than you would want to hit it.
