    Thumbs down Snow!!!

Friday night when I went to bed, it had just started to snow. When I got up, I looked out on a nice snowy scene. We were supposed to get 1 to 3 inches of snow. Monday is mom's 91st birthday so we planned a party for her on Saturday. My sister called and said when my brother-in-law was walking the dog, it looked like 5 inches at least. When I finally forced my back door open, I shoveled a LOT of snow. I went out into the middle of the year away for the house and put a 4 foot measuring stick in the snow. 9 inches with 7 up but the house where the snow was partially blown away from the building. 1-3 inches, yeah right!

Almost exactly the same here... though they did predict it right. We got about 11-12 inches and they said up to 13....

Went snowboarding for a week, got like 2 inches of snow.

Came home Saturday and got like 10 inches.

    Go figure!

It has been a very light snow year for us over here on The High Desert. We had our first snow on November 1st. The most we have had was in December with about 9" at one time. Here we have a dry snow. I guess you folks have a wet type of snow. I was talking to a friend out in Tennessee and he was telling me that they very rarely get snow. They got over nine inches. However, we depend on our snow pack for the coming summer irrigation. So far the Mountains do not have the pack needed. We are at 33% of normal. Hopefully, the next two months will be good snow producers. It also has a lot to do with our fire season too. I live amongst the Forest, where I have a lot of Ponderosa Pines, Jack Pines, and Sugar Pines. We had a real bad Forest Fire back in 2003, we darn near lost our place. Snow packs mean a lot to me. We average about 4' to 6' per year. And if you have the right equipment, it isn't bad.

Here in Southern Illinois, we've been lucky and haven't gotten much snow this winter. Our biggest snow fall so far has only been about 1/2" & was gone the next day for the most part. So keep all the snow you want & keep it where I don't get any. I haven't had to scrape any snow or ice off of my vehicle yet this winter, and I'd like to make it to where this is the one winter, I don't have to do it at all! Yes if you can't tell already, I HATE snow & most importantly the ice that tends to come along with it!

Geeze, it looks like you folks are really going to get hammered this week. Calling for up to 30" in 24 or so hours? The News said 2-3 " per hour. I hope you have your Snow equipment up and running. You're gonna need it. So far on the West Coast, we are at 4200' with a trace on the ground. Just enough to produce sparks from the runners as you're flying down the Trail. Oh well, they say that La Neya will move in either next year, or the year after. Then you guys can look back and have a good Guffaw at us....

This last storm pretty well passed us by in S.W. Indiana. I got maybe an inch on the grass this morning. Out east they got hammered.

Talking The biker and the rookie.

A rookie police officer pulled a biker over for speeding and had the
    following exchange:
. Officer: May I see your driver's license?
. Biker: I don't have one. I had it suspended when I got my 5th DUI.
. Officer: May I see the owner's card for this vehicle?
. Biker: It's not my bike. I stole it.
. Officer: The motorcycle is stolen?
. Biker: That's right. But come to think of it, I think I saw the owner's
card in the tool bag when I was putting my gun in there.
Officer: There's a gun in the tool bag?
. Biker: Yes sir. That's where I put it after I shot and killed the dude who
owns this bike and stuffed his dope in the saddle bags.
. Officer: There's drugs in the saddle bags too?!?!?
. Biker: Yes, sir. Hearing this, the rookie immediately called his captain.
The biker was quickly surrounded by police, and the captain approached the
biker to handle the tense situation:
. Captain: Sir, can I see your license?
. Biker: Sure. Here it is. It was valid.
. Captain: Who's motorcycle is this?
. Biker: It's mine, officer. Here's the registration.
. Captain: Could you slowly open your tool bag so I can see if there's a gun
    in it?
. Biker: Yes, sir, but there's no gun in it. Sure enough, there was nothing
    in the tool bag.
. Captain: Would you mind opening your saddle bags? I was told you said
    there's drugs in them.
. Biker: No problem. The saddle bags were opened; no drugs.
. Captain: I don't understand it. The officer who stopped you said you told
him you didn't have a license, stole this motorcycle, had a gun in the tool
bag, and that there were drugs in the saddle bags.
. Biker: Yeah, I'll bet he told you I was speeding, too.
