    The new employment maggots

I know a gal (about 60) who recently lost her husband. A friend gave her a lead for a job at Sam's Club. She goes there, they like her. She then proceeds to do all the jumping through hoops to get some $8 hr job handing out food samples - but she is satisfied. On her first day she learned that she was an employee of a contractor to Sam's Club. Still the first week was OK. She went online to find her schedule for this week - she was scheduled to work one day.

That's right one day. Her employer said that Sam's Club cut back demos, so she wasn't needed for more than one day.

It's obvious that you can't hire someone for one day a week, but you can sucker them, and then do a bait and switch. My friend is now looking for a second job. It's more of the race to the bottom.

    It's really depressing... .

Now, if the "pain" went all around, ok. But the system is vicious because it is designed specifically to further enrich the already rich by squeezing the already struggling (if not poor) for every last possible nickel.

Leaving aside common human decency, this is socially (and thus, politically) explosive.

Some of these vulture capitalists may end up being choked to death with their own entrails....
