It sure seems to be the case.

There's no principled opposition to unlimited government; just "big government," which is Republican code for liberal-left government.

Republicans - and the Tea Party - don't object (indeed, they support) their brand of big government, as manifested in the wars for empire and the military industrial complex, corporatism. They are perhaps even more worshipful of the state than left-liberals, which takes the form of garish public expressions of patriotism, including constant flag-waving and singing of treacly anthems such as "I'm proud to be an American" (barf!).

The Tea Party sends out e-mails urging the rank and file to support Republican pols; the rallies seem to be mostly cheer-fests (and fundraisers) for Republican office-seekers.
