    Never ending nano-management

    There's a law against everthing.........

The church ladies in Emily, Minn., are a polite group, so they

aren't likely to grumble -- well, at least not too loudly -- about the state shutting down their kitchen.

But make no mistake, the order to close was a real blow for the volunteers who opened the doors of the Emily Wesleyan Church and the hungry residents who came for a free hot meal each week.
The church ladies like their 20-year-old kitchen just the way it is. It's clean, and the linoleum floor and oak cabinets have charm.
So after serving 7,000 meals during its first year, the Wednesday night dinner is on the back burner while residents in the town of 900 people about 150 miles north of the Twin Cities hold bake sales, pig roasts and concerts to raise $170,000 to buy commercial-grade equipment and make the required improvements.

Regulations, like laws, should be for the guidance of wise men and the blind obedience of fools. It is sad but, unfortunately, a normal sign of the times to see commercially oriented regulations so blindly imposed, by a self seeking 'jobsworth', onto a very charitable community.

The thing is, we take it.

So long as we continue to take it, the government (and all the Maggot Classes associated with it) will continue to give it to us.
