What they don't tell you about Biodiesel

Biodiesel acts as a powerful solvent, and it is strong enough to break down micro organisms. When biodiesel is added to the fuel tank of a vehicle that has only been run on #2 diesel it breaks down the algae that has grown in the fuel tank over the years and sends it to the fuel filters. The fuel filters plug with algae and the vehicle will suffer severely decreased performance until it does not run at all.

With some states mandating that B2 biodiesel be sold at all fuel stations (just like 10 percent ethanol) a major logistics problem could be on the way. All of the trucks that have never run biodiesel will have problems with filter plugging. Plus, all of the big underground tanks at fuel stations will most likely have problems with algae breakdown and have their filters plug as well.

What a pain in the ass.

Damn... an expensive pain in the ass, too. As with the urea (and higher cost ULS fuel) these costs will flow down the line to consumer goods, since most consumer goods are shipped by truck... and most commercial trucks are... diesels.
