Here's a picture of the load-bearing section of wall I just rebuilt. It was (previously) on the Sexual Chocolate side. A single 2x4 on the left (by the brick wall) supported the weight of the big joist above. Yeah. Not cool. I tripled that (glued and screwed) on both sides, with 2x4 tie-ins above. It is now White and Right!
The sides will be drywalled but the currently open portion will be left open as a pass-through for daylight, to make the room look/feel more open. It could also be a place for built-in shelves. I haven't decided yet.
Today, I am de-paneling the kitchen.... more to come!
