    GPS testing in southeast USA

At various times during January & February, the US Department of Defense will be testing their GPS selective availability system in an area centered around southeast Georgia. The affected area extends into Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Alabama.

The GPS selective availability system is intended to reduce the usefulness of the Global Positioning System to an enemy in times of war.

Since many cars (and cellphones, etc.) now have GPS receivers, you shouldn't rely on them for navigation purposes during this time period. Your nav system could route you through forests, buildings, over cliffs, etc. so pay attention to where you are and where you're going (like you ought to be, anyway).
