US$20 billion, for air-conditioning? - what a load of pussies. Our troops don't even have air conditioning at home base let alone on active service. Back in the day, when I was in the RAF, even having a battledress tunic button undone was enough to be put on a charge, for being improperly dressed, no matter what the temperature. Air-conditioning was unheard of, mind you, in the Middle East, we did leave the windows open.

The US military consumes a staggering percentage of the total US fuel consumption. Their consumption will not be challenged just like the military's pollution isn't. It's exempt. All those who are part of, close to, or influence government get to use more and pollute more.

Over time it appears more and more that environmentalism is an expression of social darwinism.

Add to this the fact that whenever they want new equipment, they simply throw away or steal the old equipment because they know they "need" the equipment and, according to them, there is an infinite amount of money available to replace the equipment.
