Yep; typical.
One standard for them - another for us.
In fact the standard for them ought to be much higher for them than for us. After all, with greater power (ought to come) greater responsibilities...

Automatic rifle left on the trunk lid of a police cruiser.
I doubt the cop responsible will face any penalty let alone charges.

I noticed it said they will "monitor" the situation. Nothing was said about disciplining the idiot officers that left the weapon there. The old double standard.
Well, what was he supposed to do with it. It would be far too difficult to carry two coffees, four burgers and eight jam do'nuts as well as an auto popgun. Besides, would they have let him in McDonuts carrying a rifle?
p.s. If he had done that in London our crims would have 'disappeared' that rifle in about two seconds flat.

The child and the parents will be arrested. The child will be put into "the system".
If I saw a rifle on a police cruiser like that in person I would think it was a "bait-car" situation designed to put people into prison and jack up the weapons arrests to "justify" more gun control. (like the ATF has been doing lately)
